No, he's saying he didn't hold because (1) his opponent expected him to hold, (2) holding leaves you at -35 at any attack level you didn't hold in and -17 at the same level, (3) he ran the chance of being thrown during his hold state meaning being thrown at a 150% revision to thee throw typically costing him 80 to 140 points of health. Staying in stun can mean you recover faster than holding and you're invulnerable to throws. If you get hit while holding you are still extending threshold. It's not a get out of jail free card once you're playing an experienced player.

Although that is what I meant, you've worded it so much better than any of my best attempts! Thanks.

I'm still not seeing the advantage here.

Let's say my opponent knew that I was going to hold mid K, he does his stun, I hold mid K, but instead because he knew it did a low poke that extends the stun: result I'm still in stun.

Let's say I suspected my opponent may attempt a throw because he thinks I will attempt a hold. So therefore, I get stunned, I don't attempt a hold, my opponent sees me not holding, and continues with another poke: result I'm still in stun.

And then there is stagger escape. Its success is dependent on how quickly I can enter the command, the frames from the move that stunned me, and the frames from the follow up move my opponent may do. My opponent may wait it out and see me stagger escape and just throw me at the end of it. It won't be a 150% damage throw, but still life gone. Or my opponent can continue to do quick strikes that will beat out the stagger escape anyway and still continue the stun. Result I'm still in stun or eating a throw or (best case) still on defense.

At what point does the defender have either an advantage or a way out? It seems in DOA you can either eat damage, or attempt to Yomi your opponent and eat slightly less damage. Or guess correctly with the hold system and stop his attack flow...

^Nice vids there! I'm really liking that tutorial mode and combo challenge they've got! And that retro music option they have now is superb!!!

Here's a tag match of Kokoro and Pai Vs Tina and Bass:

I guess it depends on what your opponent decides to do. Honestly, I'd rather eat a hi-counter throw than a critical burst and get juggled.

I wasn't sure where else to post this aside from making a whole new thread just to answer one question but according to this link, Sarah is a CEO of her family's conglomerate? I never heard this?? We really got to have some story mode or something for future VF's. http://deadoralive.wikia.com/wiki/Sarah_Bryant

Would really love to know when the Bryant family started a conglomerate. As Sarah has officially been a college student since the early 90s and Jacky has been a race car driver.

Can't take anything posted on a wiki too seriously however. Anyone at anytime can just walk by and change it.

I wonder...would it be possible to start a sub-forum on here for us VF-ers playing DOA too...Or at the least, matchmaking/GGs threads in PSN network?

Doesn't seem a good idea to me. Why not use an actual DoA website for DoA matchmaking?

have to agree even though the 2 most popular sites on DOA ain't that great.
Also, i been looking into ultimate more and....its making me think more and more about getting core fighters as it doesn't seem like its really "fixing" its problems it had in DOA

That's true, but my idea was to bring together the other VF-ers who are into DOA. It could be a little home here to bridge the gap between the two communities and possibly serve as a starting point for other VF-ers that may be getting interested in DOA.

You know that actually is an interesting idea.

I think the place for DOA content is on a DOA website. There is already a DOA thread that pops up from time-to-time. Let that be enough.

What's not so great about the DOA sites? While I'm not on FSD as much as I am here I think the site is fine and managed well. The other site out of the 2 you are referring to I can't speak on since I'm not sure what it is. Doacentral?
