Good to hear Pai impressions, and that she seems good. I was pretty excited when she was announced.

Honestly I think all the VF characters are good. I'd like to play Akira, but DOA is a very heavy combo string based game in my opinion. I think having multiple strings you can cycle through to confuse your opponent is the best way to go and the reason why I will main Pai. Akira isn't heavy on strings. :( When I played Akira at summer jam I always felt locked down because he could only squeeze like 1 or 2 moves in between strings. Also openings to go big seem far and slim and will probably get tighter as players develop. Unless your a good guesser like AdamYUKI, Chief Flash and GT I don't think Akira will be a good character for anyone. I tell you this though... that fucker hits harder in DOA than he does in FS. My god his damage output is through the roof lol

While I can't play Akira I will play Kokoro as a secondary. She is very close to Akira in terms of moves sets anyway and she has decent strings for mix ups.

can't wait, picking this sum bitch up at midnight tonight. I'll still play some VFFS on and off but with the online being a ghost town i'll definitely be focusing much more on DOA5 and will continue beating down fools there with a different effiminate blond blue-eyed pretty boy ;)

After seeing how long TTT2 finals take and just matches in general can take I'm leaning more towards this game as something else 3D to play.

This here is what I'll be hitting people with come tomorrow. My Pai will need a partner afterall.

I wanted to get this game so bad, but waiting for an all clear on the online before deciding.

There's enough games with good online that I'm not going to play one that is bad (KOF excepted since I have a soft spot for them)

    Thanx Zero-Chan,

nice write up. After reading others, I was falling on the side of not buying this game, after reading yours, I'll probably pick it up today.

But do you really think the graphics are better than Soul Calibur V? SC normally gets my vote when it comes to visuals, the thought that DOA 5 even comes close, justifies purchase for me.

It's funny- but I was swayed in the other direction- to at least right now pass on this game, though some of this is also the netcode impressions, and hearing of some major issues that need patching.

Console fighters always seem to have these major issues if they aren't beta tested in the arcade.

Just messed with around with Akira and had more fun. Still trying to unlock Pai, but not sure if this game is gonna pan out for me once I sit down with it. They did some right things with it but I the end it's still DOA, so yeah...

Graphically it eats SCV and everything currently out imo. The game is fun I just hope the net code doesn't send it to an early grave. I haven't been hearing good things about the net code, but I heard a patch was released day one to address some things. Hopefully it got better. I haven't online yet and probably won't until tomorrow. I'm still trying to come up with a battle plan for the characters I'll be using. Plus I don't have all there moves memorized.

I played a set of 5 online and it felt fine to me. I think judging online pre-release is the wrong way to go. They almost always patch that shit day 1 and fix the problems.

PS3 rev has some horrible stutter issues mid match offline. I'd recommend 360 all of the way.
