lol i was being sarcastic... /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You probably already know that if you hit [P]+[G] after your [P] get reversed by Vane's [P] reversal, you can avoid the down attack and recover standing.

But if you hit [P]+[G] extremely early (think Tekken's chickens), you'll flip out (lol) before she does the arm snap and only take like 20 points of damage.

Let's not forget VF's only pure chicken, Pai's vs Pai only reversal reversal. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    Re: Hi.

This has turned out to be a funny thread...All of this because some one complained about reversing rising attacks in Doa3. Aoi is the best at it...Atleast I think, I need to play evo some more to verify.

Heh, yeah. Fuck - if someone was to win on that move in a tourney.... we'd have people running around screaming haxxorz like chickens. Still - it proves that you could implement chickens in VF (wouldn't be no point though as reversals aren't strong and pretty hard framewindow) and that there already is one (which is nice when a Tekkenhead claims that there isn't). All in all - the rarest move to see in the game - that would be it?

    Wuh?

This post confuses me. But I guess I will try to answer the origional question

Aoi is definitely a good counter character. If you have good Yomi she is perfect for reversing begginer to intermediate people. Against good vf players though it grows very hard. The objective for a good Aoi player IMHO is to outwit your opponent using her whole movelist. No move is to be spared /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

On the other hand, Akira is a very fun character to reverse and sabiki / inashi with. If your good at recognizing complex fighters patterns you can do real good with his [4][P]+[K]+[G] . People dont usually expect Akira players to maximize on his reversals as much as they expect for him to maximize on his crazy floaters / byakko . Well thats just my take on the situation. I don't play Pai yet so I cant say anything for her reversal game

    Re: Wuh?

I'm still a scrub, but Aoi was my first character that I've learned to play-

The big diff between Aoi and the other reversal chars (Akira, Pai, Vanessa) as far as reversals goes, is that Aoi can reverse crescent attacks and shoulders and stuff that the others can't reverse. This has more implications than one might initially think. I think this has been mentioned before in some Aoi thread, but this basically means that Aoi can do fairly safely do Reversal & throw escapes, as opposed to Evade & throw escapes that others do. You should still do the ETE or EDTEG or whatever your skills allow you every now and then, but the reversal throw escapes are nice in that they'll get the crescents that evades will not. There's no point for the other chars to do this, since their reversal abilities don't give them any benefit over a plain ETE et al. And then there's the YY. Now YY does not reverse the crescents and shoulders and stuff, but it works on two levels, and it's got that kick ass dodge, and liberal timing, and it's got a kick arse canned crumple move. This means that you can do dodge throw escapes with the YY, on top of the above reverse throw escape option. It's sort of like Goh's dodge sweep, but better, imho. And when someone throws Aoi while she's dodging, it'll always be a side throw, so you only need to enter a single throw escape direction. So YY dodges, and it's a pretty much guarateed throw escape, and you have the option of the canned crumple attack. KICK ARSE, huh. The thing is, depending on which direction you dodge, it's a diff side throw, and honestly, it's been a while since I've played Aoi, and I forget. Just do a search, I suppose, or check it out in the PS2. YY has some serious options.

However, despite all this, most of your damage does not come from reversals. Rather it's from her sabakis/crumples, and guard canceling into throws. Like others said, you gotta use all of her moves. I can't think of any of Aoi's moves that are truly useless. But even if you never actually get to reverse anybody, the threat of that reversal is what's in their minds, and that works well enough. It's kinda like when you are playing Zangief in SF2- you may never actually get a SPD in a round, but the threat of the SPD itself makes your opponents wary, making them make mistakes.

    All imhScrubbyO.
