I just ordered two Hori RAPs from play-asia.com. They should be here by this time next week. Hopefully. I am going to play with them for a few weeks and see how I like them before I start modding out the buttons.

Ahh, recently purchased VF4:Evo and I pretty much gotten to like it. Anyway I can't order joysticks online and I was wondering if you can reccomand me a decent stick that is found in most gaming stores? (under 60 bucks)
-gamestop I believe only gave me one choice of an arcade stick: Universal Ultimate Fighting Stick

Chai: you are lucky for many reasons, most stemming from the fact that you live in NYC:
    1) there are import stores in NYC which will stock decent to good sticks at their place more than likely, and you will be able to get prolly
    2) there is an FT machine there, find it, play it, love it
    3) well, those are the main things, but there are hot women there.

plz dear God, don't buy that stick, you will make jesus cry, maybe another NYC player will come on and say something about more specifically where you can get one, but wait until then, or go find that FT machine, and take over the world

The stick looks good but that can be deceiving. It has convex buttons which I think is a plus. It says its wireless. I'd hope there was no input lag at all. VF is very frame specific, you would hate it if the wireless connection would mess during a move or middle of a combo. The price is right though. I doubt you could find better for that price.

I bought a Real Arcade Universal from Pelican and one of the connectors snapped off inside after a month of moderate use. STAY AWAY FROM PELICAN PRODUCTS!

I'm using the Tekken 5 stick right now which I'm content with. You can only get it by buying the Tekken 5 Ultimate Collectors Edition

    about this Stick
If it's a decent(pricewise, built and lifespan) joystick and could be found in one of those places you guys reccomended me sure. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

1.) I guess I'll need to wander around downtown abit for the odd import japanese stores... or "Pon Shop" or "Garage Sale"
    2.)Awesome! but since I suck I'll just watch. /versus/images/graemlins/tear.gif
3.) Of course I would know, I'm one of them j/k. Hot girls don't play at arcades. :p Unless it's something mainstream like ddr methinks I onno, whatever. Sad thing is I only played VF4 once in an arcade in the summer of 2002 at a bowling center. VF4 and VF4:Evo all at home.(please don't stone me!)

-I know, I know about the pelican. I lurked here before, I'll stay a mile away from it.

Thank you guys for being really helpful and not stoning me on my ignorance on sticks and playing VF4:FT(or VF in general) in NYC /versus/images/graemlins/lol.gif

    Re: Incompatible Arcade Stick

Currently, I think these are your best options:
    http://www.hori.jp/products/ps2/controller/realarc_pro_s/
the one you mentioned is decent but I highly recommend saving up for a quality stick. Ofcourse, you can't get any better than Catch22 sticks but I hear he's hard to reach lately. Good luck

funny you should mention the SE / SA, if you didn't preorder or know someone who knows someone who has one to sell, your are pretty well fucked as far as the SE / SA go, the basic HRAP you can still find it, but those are "collectors items" now

    Re: Incompatible Arcade Stick

I guess the feasible option would be to purchase a basic RAP. The joystick was sanwa I believe so it shouldn't be a problem. You may want to replace the buttons with sanwa/seimitsu though. I think I saw a few BRAP on Ebay for appx $110.

I've got a RAP, with no sanwa buttons, but it works fine for VF and Tekken for me, my movement on both games has improved loads since I've had it, although it took me a while to get used to the slightly smaller buttons (compared to a Namco or SC2 stick). It cost me 100 quid (actually £100.77 to be exaxt) but was worth every penny. I would still like some sanwa buttons and a stick for 'completion'.

I recommend a Namco stick for travelling purposes though. Although there'll like gold dust TBH.

    keep checking play-asia.com

My wife set it to notify her when my arcade sticks came in. Low and behold, a few weeks later I come home to find that she ordered them for my b-day. They are back-ordered atm, but i'm sure they will be back in stock in a few days.

    Arcade wiring

I'm working on an arcade machine at the moment (for playing old arcade games through xmame), and I'd love to wire up a PS2 as well. Anyone know where I could find schematics for such a setup? Is it doable, voltage wise that is, or do I need to convert power levels? I've got the PC ps2 port wiring done, but need more info on the PS2 connector part.

I'm just wondering if anybody knows how this stick performs:

    http://ign.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=4159727

I just got the game so i don't need anything too high-end, just something that will let me play better than the d-pad. I'm trying to be as conservative as possible with my money since i'm saving up for a new PC, so i figure if it's not really necessary i might as well save myself 30 bucks.

I was also looking at this because i figure if i can get 2 sticks for cheap, a friend and i could both use one while playing against each other so that there would be a more even "playing field" (i know it says gamecube, but it works for all 3 systems)

I have the same Nuby Stick, except with a Soul Calibur II design. It's alright I guess, as a starter stick. It's deffinetly not the best though, I got mine for $20Cdn, and there's something about the brand name 'Nuby' that bothers me/versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif. But if you're just looking for something cheap just to get used stick, I'd recommend that first one. The second one looks a bit too small. In the future I'd like to get a better stick in the future, maybe a hori stick, but they're out of my price range at the moment.

Hey, if you can still find a Tekken 5 sp pack. You'll get a decent hori stick with the game. See if these are available in any EBgames or Gamestops near you - or you could try ebay?

nigga, you are out yo damn mind if you think the nuby stick is anything better than a paper weight. It's based off the Pelican design, it practically reeks of suck, get the VF4 Evo stick, that shite is pretty cheap if you can find it, get a T5 stick, can be found pretty cheap, but that POS is horrible, and no I am not saying because I am enbittered, I am saying because I am a fan of high quality products, it'll be worth the investement, I GUARANTEE IT, but for the love of Jesus, just say no to the Nuby / Pelican.
