Okay, that namco stick is looking good... has anyone had any bad experiences with this stick? It's for PS1, but I am pretty sure that doenst make a difference, right?

Also, is there any way this could plug into a PC for Mame?

I have the SC2 stick that I use to play VF and SF, the stick is actually pretty decent, it hasnt broken on me yet and I've had it for about 5 months now. So its a good choice if you cant afford the RPA stick. My friend Fury has one of those Namco sticks, but he mostly plays SC2 and Tekken. He's had to swapp buttons and shafts, but he's had it for years, actually I think since TTT came out. I actually want to try the RPA stick, but it looks huge, and its about 80 bucks not including shipping. I was wondering how that stick feels?

Well, Siyko, you've seen my namco stick. Works fine on ps2 and I use mine on my PC as well (via magic box) to play any mame/other emu games.

I can highly recommend the stick.. if you can find one /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Failing that, if I were to purchase an all purpose stick it would be the Hori Real Arcade pro.

yea i figured as such. i just wondered if you might of haxed ur stick so it would work on ps2 =P

i ordered the namco, less than $70 after shipping, meh... not too bad.

RAS would have been nice, but after shipping its like $150. That's just too much.

Also, may I say that toysnjoys.com is very shady, and i feel unsafe giving them my credit card info x_x

    <<looks for magic box>>

The only thing that's been haxed is the paint job underneath where your hands rest /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Great stick if you can find one, but again I'd probably go with the Real Arcade Pro for the maintainability aspect.

PC Joybox 3in1 is what I use to hook up my console controllers to my PC. When I bought it, it was called a magic box.

You could also try what Sanjuro and I did, and modify a Dreamcast stick. Soldering irons and a junk controller aren't much, and my friend just got a DC stick for $20 after shipping. Not too shabby, and it only takes about an hour and a half of soldering work to come out with a nice stick. Mine's performing superbly. Besides, I think the hands-on elements gives the stick a little more character.

As I recall, you were SPoDing Aoi as I was dickdeep in microswitches /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif...and as far as the functionality of the stick, all I know is Jeff's knee works just fine with it /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Bullshit aside, the dreamcast stick (grey base, green buttons) takes a little adjustment if you're used to the evo/vf4/namco sticks, but not much. I also found it to work much better from the lap than the evo (et al) sticks...the base is a tad larger.

We've had 3 namco sticks at the house. One I've handed down to the young'un & it's working fine afaik...another was stolen at evo2k4 & it's probably bringing much joy to it's new (cocksucking) owner...the third has a whack ([G]) button, though I haven't caught wind of this being a widespread problem ala evo sticks. I've scooped all my namco sticks from ebay for between $45 & $65 & they've proved pretty damn pristine by "baton rouge style" standards...but knowing that toysnjoys has new ones, I'd opt to make that phone call to hawaii if a namco stick were in my future...I my first two vf4 sticks from them a couple years ago without too much incident...they took awhile to get my second one as they weren't in stock but floated me a free game to compensate for the wait (I didn't even raise a stink even).

Those 3 extra buttons Siyko needs might push back completion of the death star.

    grrrr

ToysnJoys has decieved me. Apparently in Hawaii, their definition of 'ships in 3-5 days' is more like our definition of 'back order', and their phrase 'sent an email' is better described as 'didnt send an email'.

So, I'm tempted to cancel the order if I can find that stick somewhere else instead of waiting the 2+ weeks from them. They havent charged me yet (or so they say.... may mean something else to them).....

but Google is failling left and right. RAS is simply out of my price range, as much as I would like to have one, it is over twice the price of this already semi-heavy investment.

    I rate this adventure meh/10.

BTW, modding a stick would work, if I had a stick that had more than 3 buttons to begin with. And I don't trust my craftmanship nearly enough to build my own, as nice as that would be.

Meh... looks like I am at the mercy of the internet.

Im sorry about toysnjoys, when I ordered from them it didnt seem so bad. I feel really bad about this. when I had ordered from them is took about 4 days to get to me. /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

dont feel bad about it, its just an annoyance. Nobody else seemed to have the same stick, and shipping isn't too expensive, so theres no real harm in waiting a little while.

If it's a comfort-but probably not since your the one in stickshit- thx 2 your post I got the luminous idea of typing in Arcade Sticki on google 2 find a new stick since my TTT hori is beginning to crumble & I've only modified it with stickers yet /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

My luck couldn't be any bigger when I found a brand new Namco Arcade stick for 30 euro on a local vending site...but it went down like having a cold shower when the guy told me he sold it 3 weeks ago...
But I must have had luck potions that night when my luck went skyhigh the next day when I found ANOTHER BRAND NEW Namco Stick from a guy who closed down his gamestore.

And so be it that I'm playing an f**** great stick-ok it's no Sanwa but I'm going to play it to death before modding it, which can also be fairly easy done according to the Hattori Hanzo of the ARCstick: Catch22 (is he & his site still alive???)
So moral of the story is: move out to a small country (like Belgium) click your tiny country on the google site & find that cheap quality stick, it's the clearest I can be

Not replying to anyone in particular, just want to share my experience of trying to get a HORI VF4 EVO stick, for those still wanting such a stick.

I first priced around and found the lowest was $58 (probably something lower out there, I know I am an idiot in advance) at theRage.com... Well, I ordered (September 19) and waited for about 3 weeks and nothing came. I tried to contact them on their onsite message center and then tried emailing them. After another week they finally responded: "Order cancelled. We sent you an email September 22. "
"We sent you an email" = we did not send at damn thing. So I went back to ncsxshop.com, and it was also $58. I ordered this recent Monday and got it yesterday, on Friday! The shit came with next day air packaging and I paid ground shipping! lol
Maybe they all come like that, but it did come much faster than I anticipated. Good condition stick, punch button sticks just a tad, but that’s about it.

    Hope this helps!

    Ja.

I ordered the VF4 Evo stick from Toysnjoys...what a mistake that was! They sent me the SC2 stick and charged me for the price of the VF4 Evo stick. Their customer service is the worst I have EVER come across and I do ALOT of shopping on the internet. I had to become aggressive before they could be bothered to respond. Since I'm in the UK shipping cost me approx. $35 dollars so it will cost me alot to send it back.
However, I have gathered from this thread that the SC2 stick is actually the better option of the two.

    Re: Looking for an stick...

Well, after numerous solder fixes, I think my old Namco stick is about toast. It surely wont survive another game, its failed on me many times. (Though its been through a few generations of fighters, so cant say the stick is at fault) Also, its native PS1 build leads to problems with various adapters for Xbox compatibility.

So its time for a new stick.

Id simply go for the SCII stick, but like all built for a game sticks, its lacking compatability buttons.

So its boiled down to the Hori Fighting Stick 2, and the Hori Real Arcade Pro. Both seem to feature a number of bells and whistles that one really doesnt need. The lower cost and average size of the FS2 has me interested. However, Myke, when you said you prefer the Arcade Pro because of maintainability it causes me to ask the following. How are the buttons mounted in the FS2 vs the Arcade pro? Is the FS2 soldered to the board like on the Soul Calibur stick. Or are they clip on wires like in the old AgeTec Dreamcast stick? The wires are far better for both relyability and maintainability. I also notice Hori has another Real Arcade Pro coming for Capcom Fighting Jam (same stick, new graphics on the face and colored buttons). Can the face plate be removed to add like a print out of some personalized graphics to spice up the Arcade Pro? (not that the mirror finish is bad or antyhing though)

Thanks for any information on the matter.

    Re: Looking for an stick...

just thought i'd post my conclusion here...

after the first week with no information, and toysnjoys saying they decided to move it to back order, i decided to wait it out. Two weeks later, no information, nothing. I called, they said they will have it within the week. I said thats fine, slightly annoyed, but decided to wait it out.

3 weeks after that, still nothing. I called back, and they said they canceled my order for me, because they didnt know when they would get it. Argh. So now I need a new stick... the RAS is looking nice, but i really would hate to pay that much shipping. Anyone have any ideas?

Just received two RAS's from play asia. I ordered on a Saturday & it was on my doorstep Tuesday (last). Worth it? Probably not...but if ever you've wanted to be involved in something magical, ordering UPS international express ain't the worst you could do.
