Configuration A (in the control edit menu of the evo disk) is the one you want for your stick.

In addition to the link already posted, the evo disk also has a guide to the vf terms used on the disk. Sometimes the terms are similar to or the same as the ones used here, sometimes not. Dig in and enjoy.

Hey did anyone checkout this new Hori Stick http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-m-70-4ra-4-7.html

I have this stick (Fighting Stick 2 for PS2) as my stick for VF4EVO, as well as for Hyper SF2, Psyvariar, R-Type Final, etc. Although there is some noticable room for improvement (hitting buttons simultaneously is harder than it should be for some reason), it is generally good for VF4EVO, and fun to use.

Hori is releasing another cool new model (Real Arcade Pro) very soon, which uses even more expensive parts (Sanwa?).

    what's better?
    1)Old Yellow Tekken Namco Stick
    2)Soul Calibur II Stick
    3)Tekken 4 Stick
I'm guessing they're all about the same....I tried finding out prices and they're all about the same price with Tekken 4 Stick being $10 more...maybe b/c of rarity?
I'm also gonna take a shot in the dark and say the old yellow namco stick is the best? I've seen many people using this stick, including Ryan Hart, but he has the color changed to red (for whatever reasons unknown)...
    any suggestions?

    Re: Evo Sticks

I am about to buy my very first arcade stick and I need help. I have been reading various threads and I have picked up several ideas. However, the thread is so old I don't know how much of it is still accurate. I have a few simple questions.

    1. Should I avoid all things made by Pelican?
    2. Should sacrifice and buy a stick made by Hori?
    3. Does the size of the Hori Real Arcade Pro Stick become a problem?
    4. Will need a table or desk to rest my stick on while I play, or will it be comfortable in my lap?
    5. Is it realistic to search for a "Catch 22" stick?
    6. If you had to recommend one stick for under $100, what would you recommend?

    1. Yes.
    2. Yes.
    3. In my experience, no. It is still viable to hold the stick in your lap, although I reocommend a table for any stick.
    4. See above.
    5. Catch's sticks are great, but the Real Arcade Pro has essentially the same parts.
    6. Build your own, or buy something made by Hori. Keep in mind that Hori's other sticks are decent, but their longevity is questionable.

    Incompatible Arcade Stick

I purchased an arcade stick the other day. When I plugged it into my PS2 the other day it would not work. I mean the PS2 did not even know it was there. So I took it back and got another one. Before I left the second time I had them test it. They plugged it up, put VF4:Evo in the slot, and began playing with it. So when I took the stick home, I plugged it up, put VF4:Evo in the tray; and the stick did not work. It did not even recognize that the stick was there.

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I know the slots work because my D-Pads work without a problem. I know the stick works because I saw it work. It appears to be a compatibility issue.

The stick is a Pelican Real Arcade Universal. I know, I posted a question asking if I should buy anything from Pelican. A responder answered saying "no" at the exact time that I was at the store.

I am going to take it back. I guess I will have to wait until I get a good stick shipped in from Japan. But the compatibility issue has me afraid I may have a similar problem with other Arcade sticks as well. If I have it shipped in from Japan it won't be so easy to get my money back.

Has anyone else had this problem. If so, please tell me how you solved it. I have a new model PS2 if that has anything to do with it.

Holy shit man, that sucks. There shouldnt be a compatiblity issue. All playstation accessories are universal, but hey thats what you get for buying a damn pelican stick, first and last mistake.

You're right. People say "Pelican sucks" for a reason.

    Toys in the Attic

I just moved into my new apartment not too long ago, and my roommate and I finally got up the courage to explore our attic. Unfortunately, we didn't discover ANY black magic tomes bound in human flesh, but we did find a really nice Dreamcast stick (and a lot of porn).

Now, my question: is there a way to convert a DC stick to work for a PS2? I searched all over the web but I couldn't find an adapter. I was wondering if there's a way I could create some sort of Frankenstein monster by splicing a PS2 controller plug onto the stick's normal cord... any information or assistance would be much appreciated. Gracias.

Unfortunately you need twelve black magic tomes bound in human flesh and a complete Hustler collection for that.

It's actually much simpler than you think. Tear out the brains of the stick and tear out the brains of a third party PS controller. Solder. Voila.

No NO, dont take appart that dreamcast stick, those sticks are very rare now, I've been looking to buy one for a very long time. There should be an adapter to buy for it /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    Re: Toys in the Attic

Couple weeks ago I get a PM.

"Say bro...fix my stick I'll let you put it in my girlfriend."

And I'm thinking...why would I want to put a perfectly good dreamcast stick in your girlfriend? Can she even crouch dash? I mean...I won't even call a bitch back if she can't at least box step.

But I ignore my reservations and agree to help the illustrious Senor Offbrand in his quest of a second joystick for to embarrass and humiliate his roommates and friends at Tulane.

"So now you're saying she can ECD? I'll give her a looksee."

Seems God wanted Sean to have a second stick as well...He sent Hurricane Ivan to the Gulf of Mexico & my brother, dreamcast stick & madkatz pad in tow, just down the road to our folk's house in beautiful Brusly, LA.

"We're here all weekend, can you perform your services?"

So I get over there and sure enough, ain't no goddamned minamivagina'd teenage girls in trouble to be found nowhere...just my brother and his friend and my other brother and looks of wonder and doubt.

"I don't know if this is gonna work. If it does, it'll be a pain in the ass and take a long time. Fucker!"

So I sit to frankenstein a controller & OBTampon and his Aoi playing pal retire to the back for some VF. I must admit no small amount of glee in hearing Aoi Xena yodel all over Akira for match after match while the faggot ass Dolphins (btw, now and forever...fuck the Dolphins!) inspired faster and faster precision soldering. 90 minutes later, as Llany promised, Viola...magically new and perfectly working ps2 joystick.

    Anyone can do this.

    No shit.

    Anyone.

Thanks Llany & anyone else who's ever offered joystick modding advice in the history of the world.

And Sean, you still owe me summa that magic pussy you promised!

A day later, and I'm still amazed. The stick is spectacular, even if one of the primary buttons is mapped as select. Indeed, you too can find an old busted stick in your attic and convert it. Of course, only Sanjuro can win a lady's affections with his electrical engineering finesse. Well... only if you count that Goh chick, so far. /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I'll work on fulfilling that promise though, cross my heart! I'll be damned if any of our honored and venerable clan isn't bringing home something highly illegal to poke on. Oh yes.

Is the select button giving you problems...I can map another button as select if that's a real issue.

    Goh was Icecold's, not mine.

    18 & over only please.

    Looking for an stick...

any reccomendations for a nice quality stick with 6+ buttons? My VF stick is a goner, and I'd like to be able to play other games with my next one.

I remember the old grey/yellow namco stick felt and played fine and seemd to last a long time... but google has betrayed me and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Anyone have a reccomendation?
