Back then, there were a number of loopholes... For example, the qualifier rounds (which were on an individual arcade level) players who lost in the qualifiers in 1 arcade were able to take part again by "double" registering with another arcade, and then making it into the final tourney even though the rules specifically said that you can only register with 1 arcade.

Of course, to give the organizers the benefit of doubt, Singapore didn't really have many tournaments that was on a "national" level in those days, so experience in organizing tournaments on that scale were pretty hard to come by. I'd expect that WCG probably won't have that happening naturally.

What I am more concerned with is the erm.... "quality". The old birds will definitely remember the winner of that tournament! (Sorry to dig out old memories guys...) though I'd say he's come a long way in the few odd times I got to play him during VF4.

How does the selection work in WCG anyway out of interest ? A round robin system ? (I'm sure its somewhere in WCG, but I'm just too bleeding lazy to dig it out and read it!)

How about me?! I was a Singaporean PR back then but the tournament organizers kicked me out because they "thought" I was Japanese and so didn't notify me when the time of the tournament changed.

So by the time I arrived it was already over and I had registered at only one arcade. Of course I proceeded to beat the winner three times in a row after...

Now I'm no longer a PR and cannot participate, xianz...

Lol. Wow.

Anyway, I don't think Malaysia will have a VF5 qualifier. AFAIK they didn't have a Malaysian qualifier for DOA either. Awesome!

So thats what happened! We always did wonder why some of the other guys didn't take part... Well, like I said, it could have been handled better...

usually play at bugis on fri/sat nights.
just wondering if seraphim's event is still on? would be interested to join too, if date permits.

on another note! anyone organizes VF5 home gatherings?
