Hey! I think its a cool idea. However:

for a 3 v 3 tourney, do we have enough players? 6 hours may be a bit short for that many things from experience.

took part in a couple of 32 man tournaments and easily took 2 to 2.5 hours.

If its gonna be team, and the third event its probably going to take about 7-8 hours.

Unless you want it to be single elimination for both its fine. Still thats a bit harsh /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Hi All,

This is my 2nd post on VFDC, lol. I am the mysterious guy that will be holding a tournament for VFers in Singapore, on a tentative date in late May and early June. As this will be a grand gathering for VFers after 4 years. * I am not sure when was the last date we had one *. So it's high time the VF community gets together to have fun and learn what it takes to truly bring out their skills for everyone to experience. In order for this happen, I need the commitment from you guys. The costs of the whole event and food will be shared evenly among all the VFers, so right now. On this post, I just a need show of posts as to who will be interested to have this going, as I have already got the plan schedule started on this. Events for the day , if time permits, it will be 6 hours and will feature :

1 on 1 Matchup (Depending on group size, this is done by a controlled voting system)
3 on 3 Matchup (Depending on group size, you can choose your team mates except for the Top Tier Players)
Dream Team vs The Whole VF community Matchup (This sounds ridiculous, but it's top 3 players vs everyone in VF community.)

That's all for now, more news will be posted by me in future to keep you all updated on this. Thank you all and I hope to see everyone committed to make this a reality.

Thanks Remy for the info. I guess we will have a discussion again on the timing of the tournaments once we know approximately how many people are going to be in it ? But most likely we will be looking at a more than 15 man competition here, so I have to agree with you that it is going to take longer hours. As there might be an issue here, the longer we play, the more money we have to chip in to book the room for the event, so I am working this out at the moment. As for the elimination rules, let's see how many people are going to be in this and we decide if we want to do single elimination or something else. I have to agree single elimination is abit harsh. Unless any of you guys have any idea where is a good place to rent a room for this event. Two solutions I have came out so far.

1) Hold it at someone's place (Need to cater at least 15-20
people, and also able to have white walls for projection).
2) Rent a function room for the whole day, and a budget below
$400.

If we want to play longer hours, it will be cheaper if we have more people involved. So any suggestions now will be good for further plans.

You might want to consider just holding the tournament at,

Cineleisure:
12 hours x 2 stations x 8 bucks(iirc) = $192

12 hours is really a worst case scenario, the VS league did 2 double-elimination 1v1 tournaments in under 8 hours.

or

Arcade:
Formula For Double Elimination
Player x 2 - 2 = Matches

Therefore,
8 x 2 - 2 = 14 Matches x 2 coins + 1 coin = 29 credits = $14.50
16 x 2 - 2 = 30 Matches x 2 coins + 1 coin = 61 credits = $30.50

I'm assuming that each match starts with a fresh batch of coins and the extra 1 coin is a buffer for that last match in case the winner bracket player lost as he is entitled another shot.

I'm betting with watever funds i've got left in my posb bank account that driftsilencer will win.

Cineleisure is definitely a no no. The setups has xbox signals to TV lags.

I will have surprise for Mr DriftSilencer if he turns up for the tourni haha. Good luck!. Updates guys, VF5 gathering is not just only a gathering, it's also a tournament, so play your best. Game will be played on Ver C, xbox version, due to popular demand *Sorry ps3-ers, we are outnumbered.* The venue for now will be held at SAFRA Toa Payoh, pretty grand place enough to hold the tournament as I have viewed the place myself. The price is still reasonable if more people join in for the event. So spread the word!

Venue : SAFRA Toa Payoh (Tentative depend on response)
Costs : $250 for 4 hours, additional $50 dollars per hour after first 4 hours
(Includes projector, white screen and sound system, plus mic for the commentator, haha). Remember, the price includes all the equipment we need for tournament.
Game Setups : 3 xboxes, need 4 modded VSHG sticks, 2 normal x-box sticks. (2 xboxes will be used to run the competition, one extra is for practice while waiting, this ensures everyone has maximum play time)
Video Setups : 2 projectors on screen, one LCD monitor
Audio Setups : 1 Sound System For Projector, other 2 PC Speakers.
Transport Setup : Need a car from someone to help carry the equipment.

We need to get people who don't come up on this forums at all or often, such as DeLune !! , James, Kenneth, Shun02?, Ron, Uncle Wolf etc... Specky guy playing Akira , Derrick (Ahem...)and names I haven't mentioned here. I will find alternate ways to make sure the news of the gathering get to everyone.
