I may have another one for you: cadorna

Thing is, he didn't drop on me mid-game, but I got disconnected from the game about 10 seconds after I challenged him (he didn't even press "A" to start the game). It could have just been XBL burping and knocking us out of the session, but when you consider this guy has played upwards of 900 games and is still only 2nd dan, it makes you wonder a little.

I don't know if it's fair to label someone a cable puller when they exit a match early on or before it starts...there is a life beyond VF allegedly...perhaps this person was turned off by the possibility of lag given your gamer tag?

Incidentally, I had a couple matches with the player in question and he/she didn't disconnect as the lifebar drained.

Actually, this problem seems to be getting less and less frequent as (I suppose) those without the stomach to face their shortcomings in the process of learning this game move on to something else.

Sometimes my connection is terrible, I'd hate to think that people thought I was cable pulling just cos I got disconnected as I was about to lose...

Well, for one thing, I didn't label them a cable puller. I left the door open to the possibility that the connection just dropped as the game was starting. Still, consider the fact that this person has played roughly four times the number of games that I've played and hasn't gotten past 2nd Dan. So much for there being a life beyond VF.

If I had to guess, I'd say he's been picking and choosing his opponents rather carefully, but I could be wrong. I should also point out that he's not the first player I've encountered with a similar record that's dropped on me (see my earlier post about UnstoppableDryv).

Also, it's pretty common knowledge that you can't play on XBL with a narrowband connection. Or at least, it ought to be.

However, if you've had a relatively positive experience playing him, then by all means step up and say so. It could be that he's sick of playing against Lei Feis that trot out the same old mixups over and over. I could understand that to an extent, but that's the risk you run when you leave yourself open to challenges.

Agreed. That's why it's my usual policy to send the other player a message letting them know I didn't drop, and maybe to ask for a rematch if the connection was stable enough.

I leave it open to the fact that there is a distinct possibility that a connection could have legitimately failed. That being said...

DontFortWitMe has been mentioned here and last night I was challenged by him. His record was close to like 130 wins and like 30 losses and was already a 5th Dan. OK, someone is certainly capable of getting that rank with so very few matches but I did think it kind of suspect.

Well in the last round it certainly looked like I was going to win. We'll never know though, all of a sudden our connection was lost. I don't want to automatically say that someone is a cable puller, but I can't imagine a more prime example. Dude is on ignore from here on in.

thanameless1- left early right before I got ranking, and before he won me, I lost and at least had the dignity to say good match in a text message all this scum gave me was nothing for winning him when he even tried to low kick me 6 times in a row(haha and he failed that).

Eh, the only way I could tell when someone is a cable puller is when they leave right before the match ends. I don't avoid the player if its in the beginning cause the match never really started to me. And if its in the middle, well it can go either way. The person might have just been kicked off the game. I had that happened to me before cause my connection sometimes kicks me and this guy avoided me and put that I quit early in my rep cause he must have thought I cabled pulled. Now, why would I quit when I was winning? It was 2 to 0. I know I should have sent a message right away but I got distracted with something else. I did send one after though but I don't think he cared XP. Oh well, thats life.

Some whack Wolf player dropped on me, not before the final KO, but after last night lol. I guess it doesn't record it if it happens before that final screen is brought up. Forgot his name, wasn't worth remembering /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif just hope I don't play him again.

Vanessa player named MOBSSUPREME dropped on me today. I could barely hear him screaming about something being bullshit during the end of some of the rounds. Then in the final round when I started winning he stopped moving all together, lo and behold the connection dropped.

This guy is a belligerent asshole. I was trying to jab him and he did Vanessa's weird elbow thing like five times in a row. I deemed this a weak tactic and decided to punish him as best I could. I elbowed and jabbed and threw and uf P-ed him with my Lau and gave him no space to breath at all. Basically I crushed him like I should be able to do considering how much VF I have played over the years.

When I joined his session later, he was babbling about something but I couldn't hear b/c I had no headphones on and was playing music. He dropped out before the game started. I sent a pm that said "dude?" I think. Not hostile at all. He responds with a voice message where he says, "Fuck you and your stupid broken button mashing character...yada yada." He sounded so angry it was hysterical.

I sent him a voice message back saying something like "Why the hostility, bro? Just practice for a good year or two and our matches might be closer. Peace."

What a goon. I hope I play him again just so's I can spank that ass even harder.

One guy accused frank (junosynth) of dropping. The round started, frank dashed in and the guy did splash mountain and the game lost connection during the throw animation. Then the guy IM'd him and called him a pathetic scrub for dropping. Like any dropper is going to pull the plug on 1 throw at the start of round 1. Frank messaged back saying he didn't drop, and challenged him to a first to 5 game if he thinks he's a scrub, which he won all 5 games. Afterwards the guy IM'd back and apologized for accusing him since he knew that he had no reason to pull.

So basically in that case both parties didn't drop, so I guess it's very possible for the game to lose connection near the end of the match instead of right at the beginning, making someone look like a dropper. But if that were to happen to me, and I was on the losing end, I definitely would send a message saying it wasn't me, and I'd probably let the guy beat me for free next time. I think plug pullers are scum and I'd hate for someone to think I'm one.

Chunbelievable needs to be avoided. If you beat him too much, he may just throw the match. He has also pulled the plug on me.
