Almaci: You my friend are the biggest fucking idiot here. You rarely make a post that isn't some form of a trolling attempt. Hell, it's rare to see you on IRC when you're not talking shit about someone trying to get something started or spouting off my job this and my job that. Your bandwagon political bullshit is the biggest version of that. Your posting's on these boards about politics are absolute undeniable bullshit anti-american regurgitation that you read on some random board on the net. This is not the appropriate forum for this bullshit and anyone who doesn't agree with you is automatically a dumbass because your own fucking ego says so. Someday that bandwagon you cling to is going to knock over your fucking pedastal and run over you. Typing on a fucking message board doesn't change the world. Get out and become politcally active, become a politician, and do something about all the shit you like to bitch about. Otherwise, shut the fuck up and talk about VF.

El Barto: I am a registered voter as well. I vote at every local, state, and national election to let me support be known for whomever I feel is the best candidate for the job. I have worked at various election HQ's, polls, and have several relative who are elected officials. The simple fact is that one voice means shit. It takes millions of outraged/informed/caring voices, a respected risk-taking official in a public forum, or a lot of money to really have your voice heard and have the potential to actually make a difference in our government. Voting and being somewhat outspoken to local newspapers is a start, but do not fool yourself into thinking you are truly making a difference. Your next step is getting more people motivated and like-minded. I wish you the best of luck.

Onistompa: /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif You misunderstood the first point you quoted me on and I guess that is my fault for not making it clearer. The "We" in that sentence was from the viewpoint of the UN-3 (Russia, France, and Germany). Sorry.

The 2nd point about Iraq nuclear capabilites. The US/GB suspected Saddam of having nuclear/biological capabilites that were a threat to the world as our sources within Saddam's regime have reported to us. Basic wordsmithing to use words like "suspect" and "our sources say" to keep from having a firm stance. We knew for sure that he had at least once had biological WMD's due to the incident with the Kurds. However we did not know for sure if he had nuclear capabilities. It was a general consensus that he potentially could have them. So the US/GB decided it was worth the gamble I suppose. N. Korea on the otherhand have had much evidence showing of them creating components needed to assemble nuclear weapons. The most publicized being the depleted uranium reported as of late. There are many people specualting that N. Korea will be the next member of the Axis of Evil (Iraq, Iran, N. Korea) to be attacked in an effort to stop their nuclear program from fully getting operational. We'll see, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon. Right now the UN is working the angle of Pyongyang's Human Rights violations against his people as a way fof getting him out of power. Things are heating up though as the DPRK is calling for S. Koreans to take pride in the fact that they are creating nuclear weapons as self-defense against the US's wishes and evil intentions.

Scaring other nations? While not exactly good international relations. It does tend to draw people closer out of fear. The old adage "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" may be appropriate here. The UN is afraid of another failed League of Nations so they will probably overlook some of the current problems. Most governments tend to be more worried about imports/exports and the bottom-line than there own peoples voices.

Part about talking: Talking about issues and intelligently debating issues is fine. The thing is this is not the appropriate forum for such issues to make any sort of difference. No internet forum is going to make any issue. The problems in the world today are not going to be fixed by a 26k word document put up by some media-fed internet monkey. It will take people who are very politically active and knowledgable about various world governements to actively seek a change in the political norm. As I have said time and again. If you aren't out there actually helping make the changes, then you're not doing anything. You're making your voice be heard and that is a start, but you're not really helping anything until you have a position of power or influence.

About the dumbass thing. Let your ego and pride guide you all you want, but if you aren't doing something to change the world or specific events then you allowing shit to happen. That makes you guilty by default. Ignorance is not a defense.

Dixie Chicks didn't do shit, but make arrogants statements. They used all of this shit to gain some publicity and it worked for them. They lost a few fans, gained some new ones, and end the end made their money.

Bill O'Reilly is a fucking schmuck. His political jargon is used soley for DA points and to garner ratings in a business that sucks for catching people attention by reporting the news. He's another idiot in the long line of Limbaugh's and King's.

Whether you like my opinion or not doesn't make a difference to me. You have freewill from birth and 1st amendment rights for a reason as a US citizen. Just don't pretend you are doing shit to save the world if you're only posting other peoples words on a fucking messageboard. Anyone who doesn't work to save themselves, the people they love, and the world around them are just fucking victims. Plain and simple.

I've said my piece and you can agree or disagree. I'm done posting in this waste of space thread.

Hey, I don't watch tv that often nor do I read as much online as I should. But exactly did that one Dixie chick say to cause such an uproar? I am just curious.

Im unemployed at the moment and at the last elections one of my sisters ran for senate.

I suggest you check some of the older threads to see exactly where saddam got his weapons from in the past(intresting detail, when saddam gassed Kurds in the north the US came to his aid and claimed it was iran who did that).
Do a google on what US ambassador to Iraq April Glaspie said to Saddam when he asked her if it was OK to invade quwait, look at the history and affiliations of Wolfowitz, rumsfeld, the Bush family etcetera.

Then come back and claim this was about liberation with a straight face.

Everything starts somewhere. Great men come from slums, God's from stables; it is not unreasonable to assume that a webboard can be an appropriate dialogue spot where some one expresses an opinion and someone else forms one.

Everything that has a beginning has an end and no one can positively say where or of what import that end will be.

Replicant: Keep in mind a majority of people are "media-fed", its the only way anyone can get any information in most cases.
As far as any media event goes, if you want to form the most accurate opinion possible I would suggest visiting several sources, since imo most news sources have a certain slant. Don't think the left and whoever else is bashing this war (which I did oppose btw) isn't putting their own spin on things. This is part of the reason why I quit following politics as closely as I used to: Spin is everywhere, and you can't trust any sources 100%. Another is that I tend to see "political action" as mostly whoring your beliefs out on others and them blindly following what you say. I think for any kind of real change to occur the "people" themselves are going to have to become stronger individuals, which may or may not ever happen.

The issue is not about liking or disliking your opinion, you're totally entitled to it but I think you could've expressed yourself differently. In your first post you came across as Mr. my ideas are superior to everyone elses so shut the fuck up. Sorry for calling you what I called you but I felt insulted (and still do) by your statement.

    No grudge tho, we're cool.

While I can understand you not agreeing....what's with the claim that "this isn't the forum and you should keep quiet"? That's not true... and if it were, why aren't you practicing what you preach?

Being belgian and not wealthy, Almaci's ability to help the situation is limited pretty much to expressing his opinion and trying to inform people. You might feel that if almaci's motives aren't strictly helpful, then his efforts are wasted or detract from the debate. I disagree. By telling him to not discuss it and encouraging others to stop the 'wasted typing' you are actually making the problem worse. That actively encourages ignorance.
