1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

would you say it's the same depth as the vs sections in the blackbook?

Can't really say, because I don't own the BlackBook. But, I take a hunch and say no.

Bought this guide about a month ago and I think it's great. Sure you can find much of the info out elsewhere but it's great to have such a thorough guide to read on paper rather that on a monitor.

I had the VF4 Prima guide for the PS2 and it was laughably bad. Giving misguided advice such as 'Vanessa is extremely weak against low attacks as they are the only ones she can't reverse'. Completley pathetic in comparison to this one.

    I highly recommend the guide.

Ver C guide will say "Now covers Xbox 360, PS 3, and Xbox Live Online Play!" on the front cover.

Why is someone buying this guide when a page like VFDC exists with loads of good players who answer all your questions? Not to mention the fact that gathering everything by yourself is much more fulfilling.

I bought the first one for 3 reasons....

    1. Lots of pictures and a guide to take notes in and always have available if you don't have the web.

    2. Friends can easily jump in and have some fun with a guide to follow right there in their face.

    3. I knew people from here made it and felt good about supporting them.

The BradyGames Guide isn't useless at all, in my opinion. It gives you a quick good wrap-up of the techniques in VF all neatly packed in well-written articles. As well, it clearly explains potential weaknesses (what am I doing wrong) of your fighting style, and gives a great overview of all the characters and how you can approach them in a fight.

i use the guide to learn about half circulars moves 4 each character and it tells u which direction to evade front, back or both and i also read the tactics vs character. its very helpful

I agree this is an excellent guide! Well WORTH the money.

For VF5:R I would like a guide that has an explanation of EACH move for every character with pics and a really in depth analysis of character match ups. Basic strategies and advanced concepts for each character. I would pay mucho for that!!!!

I'm currently looking for a cheap version of the updated (I call it "Red Arrow" because of the cover) VF5 guide, but I'm a bit cautious because of the two versions floating around out there. I've already come across one instance where an Ebay seller had the Red Arrow VF5 guide pictured on their auction, but when I asked them if that was the actual guide they were selling, they realized it was not and changed the picture.

BTW, I love collecting fighting game guides. Not always for the content, but as a souvenir program of sorts for games I really enjoy. I own the VF3;tb and VF4 guides, as well as a bunch of SF/KoF/Tekken/etc. guides, including quite a few Japanese imports.

I LOVE game guides!!! It's like a condensation of all of these super-creative people's work into a book. Shows you parts of the game you may have never appreciated otherwise.
