Yeah brillant. Hum. Btw. What's the point of your post ? Or, you just came to say you beat me, that you're good and that I suck ? Congratulations !!! You should open a thread for that. (Un)Fortunately, you're not the only one.
Thanks god, everyone isn't as arrogant as you are around here.

    Wow.
I was merely sharing my experiences with the topic at hand. Take it whatever way you chose Starnab, I'm not here to make you happy.

Fuck people, we get it, you don't enjoy playing against Tsua and his dmp+k, come back and post again when you have a new complaint against him. same thing with starnab.

Starnab: quit doing that stupid cartwheel forward on every waking opponent. mix in throws and sweep kicks and you'll have a solid wake up game. Be a little less predictable with the 2p---i'm not throwing you bad games, in fact, i didn't mind at all, they were good games, but after losing an undisclosed number than beating you an undisclosed number (not on here trying to brag) i can safely say that at the end it was rather simple. you kept cartwheeling in and i would avoid and go for a quick ppp string. The trick to progressing further in the game is having a myriad of "flow charts" use your favorites, but if its not working be able to analyze why its not working and switch to one that involves the key to why your first isn't working. If you have 2-3 flows avialable with diff strengths and weaknesses, you can learn to quickly recognize which is correct and implement = more wins = more fun = higher rank.

Ex) flow chart 1 = come cartwheeling in on waking. it worked, you beat me. i adjusted and started standing and blocking, found you could still beat out alot of my attacks with quick attacks following block, so i started standing and evading. (you see where i tried 3 things, 1st rise and attack didn't work, second rise block and attack worked okay but still failed 50%, 3rd rise and evade worked everytime. never had to readjust because you never adjusted, just kept coming in with cartwheels and giving away free damage.)

The point isn't to hate on your game at all. With your wins and rank and lack of adjustment it shows you have a decent flow chart, but only ONE. Work on having a few more on tap, and then integrate them all as necessar (you'll get better at this as you go) and you'll be a more complete player. (for your own sake, not for the sake of any elitists on here who want to bemoan you play style).

Note the points in this post are oversimplified and exaggerated for the sake of brevity.

Long Rant about lag and lag complainers. Please read no farther if you wish to avoid a rant.

Moving on to a discussion about lag.

Lag is a very real and undenaibly strong force in the world of online gaming, it can deform or (in worst case scenarios) even retard the gaming experience. Fortunately, with notable exceptions, in most instances we see a simple augmentation of our gaming experience with XBL VF5. There is, of course, the extreme outlyers where you feel like you are playing underwater, or where an unsafe move CANNOT BE PUNISHED IN ANYWAY, but these are generally rare and avoidable.

The majority of our gaming experience falls into the category of good-great, but not near the perfection of inputs you'd have offline. Its a fact, and one we must all deal with.

However, I think lag has become a crutch that sustains bad decisions, and becomes an excuse rather than a reason. Yes, we will all have multiple matches a day where we lose "b/c of lag" and in a sense this is accurate on a micro level. 2 players 1 hit away from death, player A uses move a which should be block punishable by move B, but due to lag thats not the case, and player A goes onto win the match. VERY FRUSTRATING, but realistically, you probably win just as many matches this way, or there were other mistakes that occured during the fight that were COMPLETELY UNDER YOUR CONTROL.

It is each individual player's responsibity to recognize, analyze, and adjust to the lag factor. If this makes one charactar or one move OP is not the point at issue, and one that has already been debated to death. If you consistently choose the wrong move (wether by theoretical frame data it should work or not) then you are playing at a substandard level, and that falls on you. To consistently do a 8 frame move in what should be a garuanteed 9 frame window only to fail becasuse its closed to 6 frames due to lag, is no better than to consistently do a 9 frame move in a 7 frame window offline. IT IS THE SAME AND SHOWS THE SAME LACK OF ADJUSTMENTS. You can argue that its suboptimal and therefor its lag fucking up the game, which is true, but your decision making would be suboptimal and you fucking over yourself, equally as true.

Its no different from when I play gentleman thief and he beats me 15 games in a row using less TE inputs and going for more risky set-ups than would he against someone of his own caliber. The essence of competition is you find what works and exploit. some do this to varying degrees of INTEGRITY, but this is VIRTUA FIGHTER 5, not INTEGRITY FIGHTER 5, or THEORETICAL FIGHTER 5. It is upto each player to find what works and use it until it doesnt, just as it is up to each player to realize what works agianst them, why, and how to fix it. Absolutely this is frustrating when you know how to counter somethign but it doesn't work b/c you are online and not off, but you signed that contract when you hosted or joined an online match, so you have forfieted your right to make that claim (unless you are playing in an underwater bout with 100 frames lag or whatever).

In the end, we are all playing under the same governing body of lag, and it does disturb the peace and tranquility of frame data, and alters the balance on the charactar level, as well as on the move level within each charactars move lists. Some moves become more than they were intended, and some moves become less than they were intended. However, the human player has the advantage of rational thought, and is not locked into algorithms of frame data to automatically make thier decisions for them. We all have the ability, again in varying degrees, to observe, analyze and adjust. To limit yourself to applying this only to the internal factors of gaming and not to the external factors is a conscious decision, and if you make that decision it is incumbent upon you to accept the consequences. Good OR bad.

    End Rant.

    Your welcome /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
I know you do have mix ups, and i wasn't trying to be condescending by any means, thats why i put in teh disclaimer of over simplification at the end. I just wanted to make you aware of that one glaring weakness in your game (not that you don't mix it up, but I was defintely able to win rounds and ENTIRE FIGHTS, b/c of the cartwheel kick.) Its very possible you've already made the adjustment, or possilbe that it was a bad night where you were pressing, lord knows i have my bad nights where i end up doing that stupid arrow punch as if it were lei fei's only option at mid, long, and extra long range. We all have nights were we suck and fall into predictbale patterns (not saying you sucked :))--coulda just caught you on a couple of those nights. Anyways, look forward to playing you again in the future..CHEERS.

lol, i've been away for a week now, i can't wait to go home and play in another weeek now, its killing me /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
hopefully the time away will prove to be a blessing and i can come back with my good habits and shave away my poor ones. only time will tell.

This thread is mainly for players to call out opponents who pull the plug right before they are about to lose or end up doing stupid things that hamper out the fun. Me hitting people w/ DM p+k is not doing any of that...if they are prone to getting hit with DMp+k, why stop doing it? My goal is to deplete their health bar so why should I stop? Because they don't like getting hit by it? How else are they gonna learn? It just shows their inability to adjust and deal with it so really, it's not my fault. VF is considered one of the most balanced fighting games so why is everyone complaining about such a simple move that's there for you to use in the game? No matter how balanced a game is, I swear someone will always have something to complain about seriously.

StarNab, last time I checked, you're actually supposed to "fight" in fighting games. What you're doing is just staying back until the timer runs out and refusing to engage in combat. That's pretty pathetic b/c before you used to actually fight. It's pathetic b/c I can totally sense that you're doing it out of childish spite and anger. Oh wells...I'll be more than happy to adapt to your new fighting style though so game on! =]

Saying that people are calling bad games due to losing to DMPK seems silly.

People are calling bad games because it's boring.

I'm sure getting hit repeatedly by DMp+k gets boring but maybe they should learn? Getting tossed out of the ring from one simple move is boring too but guess what, it's part of the game. Deal with it.

I was playing Madden with my older brother about 5 years ago. I was using the Falcons (Vick) and he using the Packers (Farve). We went into overtime and I got the ball on the coin toss. So I made it into the redzone and it was 3rd and inches. I dropped back to pass (dont ask me why) and got nervous and decided to run with Vick. So yeah I fumbled the ball and he was running the shit all the way back. So I decided to toss my dualshock right at his nugget. And then I got my ass kicked...

    = LEGIT BAD GAME.

I've learned not to let things piss me off so much, especially online. It's just not worth it. If lag is an issue, just chill out and invite one of your buddies to some player. Bottom line is: Don't win. Improve. Playing ranked really does bog down the value of battling w/ someone. You got dudes like Templario getting to Warrior by pulling the cable 24/7. That shit is just sad. I'm glad that Yosuke shut us all down. I'm the first guy to admit I suck... I can spot out my mistakes better than I could back in my Lei-Fei spamming days. I was fairly shitty when I started playing online and I'm souped that I keep getting better.

Your Glad that he shut you down cause im not. This is what make me better is that i will not let it happen again worst than before. Atleast with me i shoot for goals. IF i lose 20 out of 20 my next goal it to lose 15 out of 20 untill i close the gap especially against a Top (real)ranking opponent.

I don't mean being hit with it, I mean having only to wait for it and punish round in and round out.

It becomes very boring, especially as the people that seem to keep trying the same flow/move over and over have nothing else to fall back. That's boring.

Pretty much /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif I should rephrase "Don't win. Improve," as "Don't worry so much about winning, worry about improving.

Let's say for example: I keep using [Offensive Example #1] and you keep falling for it and then we start cursing @ each other, you call me a noob and tell me to stop doing it, I tell you to stop falling for it; the whole process isn't isn't helping anyone get anywhere.

SDS you got skills. I know from playing you the few times I have (DAMN NIGGA YOU INTENSE). But im saying, VF is a hella complex game, but there IS a rooftop. Just winning isn't gonna get anyone there.

WTF though lol i play for thrills and i try my best to get better. Playing too serious can get dangerous.

If I was disconnected, it was because of some connection issue.

Also I joined your sessions at least 4-5 times tonight and before the game even started you kept disconnecting.
