Well i said almost lag free...you can't deny it's the most lagless fighting game of all. I could'nt believe it the first time i tried.

    I understand your point though.

LOL!! I was the exact same! My brother and I would play vf since part 2 on saturn for hours and hours!! My jacky vs his wolf over and over and over and over! And we never got tired of it. When live came, I got destroyed by every other character because I was clueless and their properties but could hold my own against wolfs.
xbox live is a blessing. And this is coming from a 29 year old fan of the series.

Haha /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif that's awesome...we have the same VF story...i'm 31 myself and we are still doing it from time to time. We just can't get tired of those endless nights. We love that game.

In terms of "Annoyance" I've never really encountered that much lag. Once every 100 fights or so I will have an ultra-laggy match- but I look at it as some time kind of crazy "conditional challenge" like a Nascar race with iced roads or something.

Once I first started playing VF5 online I was like man, Lei Fei is tough. Then I was like man, Shun is tough. Then I was like man, Kage is tough. And so on. Eventually I realized every character in the game poses a threat if they are played correctly. Suck it up people!

I've also played and beaten a Defender before, and immediatley afterwards played a 9th Kyu and lost. The Kyu was using ultra cheap tactics--- but nevertheles he beat me with them. You know what I had to say about that? Good Games! In my book as long as you are not using Game Shark or something it's a fair fight! (The next time I played that guy I was ready for his "tricks" and stomped him)

I hear what you are saying. The lag is lame, but it doesn't ruin the game. Online VF is still totally fun. I am more annoyed by recent quirks in game design, like the lame Vanessa stuff I mentioned earlier. The fact is, it is way easier for the Vanessa player to dish those three movves out than it is for a player to deal with. I am not saying those guys are invincible, just that VF5 extends and amplifies the lame stuff from 4 to create some silly situations.

IMHO 12 frame punch & the lack of an elbow means lag hurts DS vanessa more than any other character. The opponent can abare in my face with elbows and knees and there's not much i can do about it. I can't just block and punish, the sabakis don't come out right, i get hit out of the "omg broken DM attack", nothing works. When there's lag i personally switch to OS cause i need /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

If there's lag and you're willing to give DS vanessa space to use her /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, well, it's not the vanessa's player fault.

By offline I meant actual players. Over here (the Netherlands) there is a small scene of serious players but we do get together for a whole weekend about once a month to play the game.

As for online, I love it. Some things really do annoy me but if you stick to the best connections it's a great learning tool. But I also made it a point to know the system, so when something happens due to lag I know it was lag and I know the right answer for my offline game. I won't change my gameplay for online either.

The excuses I hear over "lag" is ridiculous sometimes. Some things might not come out(Combos)but the core basics still works. Is amazing on how every player uses their character very different to others. Most of the game is played by performing simple tasks. Like for example, Jacky's elbow to a throw setup, or two straight elbows, then up K+G(Denkai special) if they think your going to dodge. That's usually the way the game is played. Messing with your opponents blocking, and once you have a hold of their defense, is PARTY TIME! SEGA gets props for doing a great job. And is great for people not having a VF community around their town. Lag, is a issue of course, but is still playable.

Well, lag is actually much more an handicap for particular chars. I had no real troubles to play my Brad or Lau with some lag issues, but Akira is simply unplayable. Even against abare scrubs@PPP mashing with eileen/pai or whatever, I can't even land a single hit.
So, playing in ranked is like russian roulette, of course u can chose your opponents by joining but well ...

I've never encounter that problem at all. But, if that happens to me, my joystick will be flying across the room. "HULK SMASH!"

yeah. *looks at location* Be thankful that you have lot of competition near you. About 9/10 people I see when doing match search have lag such that after me blocking their LP they could propably interrupt my elbow with their own elbow. Or worse.

No offense toward you in particular but I hear so many americans think that some problem doesnt exist just because it doesnt happen to them.

I just lost to a Kage player last. I guarded, 6K+G...I did 1PK...I got counter hit by standing knee /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

That's the last straw for me, no more ranking matches. I'll just play invites and such.

I've had shit like that happen to me in ranking all the time, even with people having green bars.

    It's jawsome.

edit: so that's why just like Oioron, i stopped playing ranked, but this was back in january.

When enough people are online it's pretty fun to play ranked. You get a variety of characters and styles to fight against. It also builds character to deal with the BS frustration.

I don't find that the missed inputs happen THAT often. I am as likely to make a mistake on a guaranteed follow-up, though I don't like to admit it. I actually have been messing up more as of late. I need to get my stick modded.

Lag sucks and I won't play with it period if I can't help it. I don't see why you guys even put up with laggy matches especially when you know the other person is using it to their advantage.
