This was so frustrating I felt compelled to post about it and see if others have ran into it....

So I was playing some ranked games and ran through quite a bit of good ones. Then a 7th Dan Vanessa joined my game. I sat up expecting a tough fight, I mean its 7th Dan AND its Vanessa, played right can be devastating as you all know. (note that I know nothing about her move list or what they are called so translate best you can) The match starts off with her kick where she twists and throws her leg up and on to your face. I think it knocks lightweights to their feet, unsure, but it hits me back and leaves me to a huge disadvantage. The person then follows up with 3-4 punches and a mid kick, a very common combo.

From that I get my posture and see that its one of the more defensive players, cool with me thats Vanessa's style, the player is backing up fast. Its at this point I fear the worst, not that I will get my ass beat, but that I will endure a long fight of the same ANNOYING set of moves over and over. Immediately following that thought the combo is repeated. By now, playing tons of noobs and spammers I know the routine. Wait for her to do the kick, let it miss, then juggle her to death. Most spammers are easy to deal with, I find the Vanessa ones more troublesome only because of her fast back walk.

What is most annoying is that fact that she, or the person, has got to 7th Dan, which I find to be a respectable rank. I am 5th Dan and its not easy holding that. Given I am not the best but I am good, but knowing that a player like this, doing the same moves over and over got 7th Dan bugs the crap out of me!!

Before someone counters that maybe it was someone playing an alternate character on their account, I thought that too. But there is no way a 7th Dan playing an alternate forgets tech rolls, blocking, side steps, or any basics.

There really is nothing I can do but rant about it. I know spamming happens and I am not saying its unfair or really even complaining. Its just something that ruined the awesome game day I was having....Forgot to mention the player joined my game 4 consecutive times, me destroying every time. Anyone else on this boat or am I alone?

Things happens and spammers will always be around. Rank in all honesty is nothing. The only ranks I consider to be truly respectable are 9th dan and up for the most part because they for the most part weed out the weaker people quickly and have a higher chance of actually meriting it but there are always exceptions to this rule. But in all actually someone else could playing the character and this person could be playing like crap and didn't get the 7th dan rank themselves it was someone really, one never knows, out of respect for them don't jump to conclusions just because a high rank person is playing bad there might be reason for it. How you choose to take it is up to you.

No you're not alone. I've had matches like that. There was a vanessa I fought that would go for that side kick all the time and if you dodged and tried to punish, she'd just dodge and tackle. It was annoying but then you just learn to to duck the tackles, and that stupid spin kick she does and just throw. I know how you felt though. I've had a few nights like that as well.

Percentages are what counts. Look at the percentages of the player. And hey, you face someone like that again, look for an oppourtunity to study the weaknesses of each move. Just duck the Guard Crush Tornado, never evade, it's full circular.

Thats one of my complaints too, very common with Vanessa, Jacky, and ESPECIALLY El Blaze. There are too darn many 4th-7th dans that have just found a very effective move to spam. Its even more frustrating when you lose to them, lol. What also really bugs me is when someone with a 30% win percentage pulls on you when it doens't even affect thier dan ranking--are you kidding me? You lose 70% of your matches but your going to disconnect on me? Lol, just wanted to throw out some venting of my own.
And BTW, I've played Auvii and he/she is pretty good for a 5th Dan, plays a very respectable, non-spamming Jacky.

Hey guys, I just got VF 5 today, so I believe I'm the noobiest of all noobs. What does "spamming" mean? Just repeating the same move/combo over aqnd over?

    I bet a Vanessa could get up to 10th Dan using only /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and her two DMPK moves.

Two step solutions to all complaints

    1) Get better at the game

    2) Stop playing online. Online isn't real. Online is retarded.

I like online much better than playing the comp--there's not anyone i know who plays, and i'm not going to go out and join some arcade scene to play other peeps, thats why i have XBL.

well for everyone else here offline is where it's at. online is a nice perk but offline is how it's supposed to be played.

how do you actually beat a vane spamming 66K > DMP+K. I find I can rush in fash enough to throw them before the DMP+K becomes active. Is that just me or can I actually rush in time to throw before the active frames of the DM attack

So all of you prefer to just play the computer? or do you mean getting together and playing eachother offline is where its at? Because for me the competition of playing other actual people is simply more fun than playing against the comp in quest mode or arcade. My remote area of Oklahoma isn't exactly teaming with people to play, so xbl it is.

Oh come on guys...the game is more then playable online. You know how the game has a tough time earning new blood because of its steep learning curve. You are alienating futur serious players with that online phobia of yours. Sure, sitting next to your opponent is the best option but Sega did a damn good job at giving us an almost lagfree online mode. I bet that the majority of people don't have access to good competition around them and even if they do, you won't find the diversity that you can get on xbox live. The only way you'll play againts all characters on a respectable lvl is online.

The most fun i have with this game is playing all night against my brother...we did that for years...shun vs wolf....but guess what happened when i went online....i was destroying every wolf in my path and was getting destroyed by everything else that was at least intermediate lvl. Online helped me to learn to play againts other characters and i'm a better player today because of it.

So now stop ditching online...it has is place and is helping the game to get a larger fan base. More power to you if you have access to unlimited competition offline but you are the very tiny minority. You should stop going elitist with it...it makes us feel dirty.

I'm not being elitist. It's people complaining and basing their conclusions on online gameplay that are stupid. Of course it's fine to play online, and sure, it can be fun. But lag free? Come on now.

And it's of course never our skill or knowledge that is lacking, it's always the game's fault.

I mean, people complaining NOW about the evade attack when it's the same as it's been for years and years...

    <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">how do you actually beat a vane spamming 66K > DMP+K. </div></div> Block and punish the evade attack.

Direct jab will beat backdash after 66K (unless the move connected at the long, long range) and if he does evade attack you recover in time to block it. If he did just pure evade to your jab you will still be in frame adv.

Try to do direct attacks and see what beats out DM P+K
