I guess I am in the minority with my hatred of DMPK. To me it is the most egregious design flaw in VF5. It beats attacks and throws at many disadvantage situations and requires no skill to execute.

Ex: Oh No!, I am at dis. I fear that my opponent might throw or attack me since that is what you are suppossed to do in VF when you have advantage.

Boom! My DMPK connects. Now he is taking damage and more importantly losing initiative.

Ok, so in my mind it is a stupid design choice that rewards spamming or, on the other end, backdashing or otherwise playing defensively when at advantage.

Yes, I know circular moves work most of the time, but those moves are excessively risky to have to use at advantage IMO.

Since I bitch about this more than most, I assume that others do not mind DMPK OR they think VF is handed down to us from on high and to criticize the design is to criticize that which is not to be questioned, OR that it just takes to much energy to complain so just treat it as an annoyance which must be dealt with at any rate.

As for me, I will complain about it from time to time, and I take pride in being able to win the matches I win without using one of the most powerful moves in the game.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I use the move by accident sometimes when I dodge and try to use the regular P+K move, and I do it to mock my fallen opponent if he uses it.

BG's to whoever at AM2 invented DMPK.

Happy_Friend, there's a lot of moves that can be used to beat both attacks and throws from disadvantage, for example somersaults or shoulder rams and shun's moves in general. Hell, against some characters i'm actually glad when my opponent does evade p+k.

Except for Kage, his evade p+k is imba.

DM pk sucks. My biggest problem is that adjusting against people who do use it makes me worse at the game i feel. Most anyone i play, win or lose i can work on improving some part of my game. Against dm pk'ers i actually just develop bad habits that make me weaker. It doesnt help that these guys also, usually, love 2p lol.

Also i find it annoying that some characters (at least shun) are encouraged to whore out the move by allowing combos on it. Almost every good shun i've played does dm pk 1-3 times a round. Which sucks, cause most other characters, as the skill level increases, the dm pk frequency decreases.

I realize this, but these moves typically do eat up or avoid as many attacks as DMPK and put the user at prety high risk of eating a counter hit.

Ok, this might not apply to Shun the Magical One, but he alone warrants a thread just to gripe about...

Look, I'm gonna say it like this: I'm with you in that DMPK DOES suck in that it can be abused so readily (except for Aoi, whose DMPK absolutely SUCKS!!! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cry.gif) and anyone whose been in an X-Box party with me knows I've had quite a bit to bitch about. Yeah, a move that 1. Kills linear attack and throw attempts (which I've found out firsthand, many times -_-) 2. Turns a complete scrub to a near unstoppable force (just refer to AdruptAddyPaddy and Darthminion :p) 3. The perfect panic move if you're on the receiving end of an ass-whooping, combined with 2P makes for a long and boring day.

I don't even think most of the DMPK-ers know what advantage or disadvantage is, all they probably know is that DMPK is the Easy button/Panic button.

I should get back to dinner, got some leftover Church's Chicken waiting for me :p later...

Remember DMPK is just one option, and I don't think that's too over during the match. But I have to confess some DMPK are really strong and doesn't make sense....

Even though most people complain about that damn DMPK, however I think it makes VF more vivid actually. If you DO realize your opponent is going to abuse DMPK, why don't you just delay a little and change your tempo? No one can only rely on DMPK to get win.

    Re: DMPK
One thing that irks me off and on is whan low attacks are blocked, (or hit in the case of most low kicks,) it used to be you would counter with a fast mid-level attack. But almost everyone evades after they low attack causing your elbow to whiff. (Not necessarily using DMPK.) So it ends up being that the proper response to someone low kicking you is to try and throw them? If you block someone's low sweep, and you don't have a low throw, your best chance of hitting them back is to sweep back. "sweep the sweep" That just doesn't seem right to me.

Most sweeps are still elbow counterable and some are knee counterable. If you're experiencing the whiffs online, then that's the problem.

If Shun players get a Free pass with DMPK im using on safe moves that are spammed constantly followed by 2p.

    FUCK THAT OFF!!!!!

DMPK is not that cheap adapt to it and stop being abare. Now
    Wolf DMPK is some bullshit

It has actually always been that way for any low-hitting move where elbow or low throw is not guaranteed. They can dodge that fast mid, so predict this and throw.

And SDS, DMPK is not what you eat for being abare; it is an attack that you eat when attacking or throwing at advantage. And it is easy to beat the full on DMPK spammer but when it's judiciously used by a player they become much harder to beat than they should be given their overall VF-skills (or at least what be traditionally considered VF skills, since I guess DMPK is now a VF "skill").

Ok you insist but for certain character you can Sabaki or counter at disadvantage i guess it even itself out. Sometimes Less is more.

Bad games to some whack ass Godoku No Dan dude. This guy comes in my room wins a round and starts jumping all over my body. I don't know this dude, so I'm like okay, it's on. Beat this guy to death 3 matches in a row, and he wins one finally. Starts spurting shit on the mic and quits. I was fine at first, until I got some message about me being a ring out winner faggot blah blah blah. So I start hunting this dude down, cuz I'm really about to enjoy beating his ass, but this punk bitch pulls everytime I get in the room, cuz he KNOWS he doesn't really want any of this. So if you happen to come across this Godoku No Skills, quit being a puss and get your ass beat like a man. Phew! I'm done venting now.

Wow, you played him!?!? He pulled twice when I just joined him in player match. He said some shit on the mic, but I was listening to my ipod so I didn't hear him. I think he knows I woulda beat him handily so he pulled to save himself the embarrassment.

Is he the idiot meathead who made an ass of himself here a while back and rung himself out offline in a funny way after talking a lot of trash?

I think he just got on XBL recently.

    Another reprobate on XBL! YAY!

Godoku no Dan AKA ZenTou AKA Honto AKA The Wraith AKA probably several others?

I think I remember him revealing himself as Mobsupreme ages ago, only to get laughed at for being a retarded puller who screams down the microphone when things go wrong for him and sends angry messages to you when he loses or pulls.

Some people never change. I think most people agree that there is something wrong with him in the head.
