That book doesn't cover evolution. It was for the old VF4.

Is it just a rehash of the old perfect guide? I was just curious, because I'm still play VF4 anyway. I'm holding out for a Sega announcement at E3 or some sign Evo will hit the states.

There are many publications that make guides. The familular "mook" was usually published by the publisher of the now defunct Gamest magazine.

So you now have publishers such as Soft Bank, Enterbrain,...

But the thing with VF4 is that there were different guides released for different Versions. Off hand, I know there are ver. C and A "mooks."

Plus, the publishers also made different versions for the PS2 version.

Now, with Evo, we're seeing the same thing happen.

The other other white book? /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif Is it any good?

BTW, the "MOOKS" are now made by Gamest startup, Arcadia Magazine and are published by Enterbrain. They made the Red Book, Blue, and Green Books. THEY LITTERALLY HAVE "GREEN BOOK" AS PART OF IT'S REAL TITLE. That has not been given to them by fans.

Those "white" books were probably given the term by fans, and are not published by Arcadia/Enterbrain.

...and here's a link to the available "Guides" for the VF4. I have the first guide that's listed, which coincided with the VF4PS2 release in Japan, and that too is the size of the PS2Evo Guide (Smaller than letter size).

    El Barto,

if you can read some japanese, I feel the book that you showed which is called "VF4: the complete" (not sure if you saw the giant english text on the cover of the book or not), is the BEST book on VF4 as a whole. This book's system section is by far the best, and goes into much more detail than any other book on VF4 I've seen, and I have them all (but one, by Famitsu, whick looks pretty thin).

If you can't read any japanese, don't bother, and the "Perfect Guide" for Evo, published by Soft Bank with Goh on the front is the best, while the Green Book is good if you want to see some video footage (although the videos in the replays included with PS2 Evo are much more up-tp-date, as are any movies online).

I picked up the kodansha PS2 VF4Evo book today too. It's not that great. basically a beginner's book if you're new to VF4Evo and bought it for PS2.
