    I'm not sure I like the sideguard idea as you described here. Especially if theres no good way to make character turn on its own, it just follows the opponent or turns back to it or doesnt follow at all.

    Im simply hoping they standardize the movement of OM so we get rid of the seemingly random hitbox issues. Possibly the diagonal dash that you described coupled with hitbox issues is what is behind the current weird behaviour of OM.

    I hope this thread doesn't get locked. Is very interesting on what Sirder and others have mention about the Side guarding and OM's. Throw animations for "Sumo guy" makes alot sense....So, I'm guessing that if you perform a TFT on "Sumo guy" instead of launching homeboy in the air, you get a different throw(Let's say, a link combo throw, like El Blaze, happens)that does the same damage as the TFT. That's what I'm assuming might happen, not the combo throw, but rather the situation on what I might expect from trying to throw "Sumo guy"

    I'm not going into all that shit you typed to defend something I never slagged off as we know that writing one word that you don't like results in a locked thread, but what I will point out is that 1 frame difference may change the flow of the game against those 2 characters, but saying that it's a more radical change than a completely new guard is absolutely preposterous. Regardless of how much the new guard comes into play or how useful it is, it is still a change to the whole system of VF5, 1 frame difference for 2 character's moves is not.

    Note to Sega - don't include side-guarding. Instead just go into the VF5 code and make all throws 5 frames slower. That'd be a far better update.

    The only thing I'm going back on is this I wrote:
    "This looks like a better update than even Evo was"

    What I should have said is
    "From what I've heard so far, this could be a better update than even Evo was"

    This is essentially the same sentence but is less likely to be jumped on by VF4Evo fanboys who are so desperate to defend it from supposed "shit ons".

    Not kept up with the new additions so pretty ignorant, but just noticed 'breakable wall' in the info thread;

    just wonder if the game will evolve into something too complex to be broken down in the way it's done now, I mean, surely the number of potential mathematical situations will go through the roof?

    I'm not getting into the whole Evo/R discussion, as I'd just prefer if you could drop the subject already.

    I am however curious... Why would you want throws to be 5(!) frames slower Lemmy? I mean, they are slow as it is, with 5 frames slower throws you'd have 17(!) frames throws. That'd IMO make them more useless then Tekken's throw game (mind that it's not a flame starter, Tekken's just for comparison).

    I may be wrong, and you might have just used a tiny bit of sarcasm with the throws idea... in that case, the joke is stupid /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

    Ok, side turned guard can beat nitaku ETEG fuzzy cancel. Except Taka and Jacky/Vaness/Shun in open stance, everyone else close stance light/heavy weight. Aoi can reverse it also, so it's useless to do it except you are at 45 degrees to the half broken wall with 10 seconds left into the match and both characters have 0 pts of health and mmC each other at the same time.

    I usually don't join in on arguments like these but if throws were 5 frames slower it wouldn't be VF5 anymore it would be a whole new fighting game. Frame differences changes the flow of the game dramatically and are not minor changes. Imagine if standing P was 0 frame advantage on block (which is just 1 frame lower then what it was in Evo for Lau and Akria) you would be playing a game where you are supposed to mash buttons the second you block attacks

    I'm 90% sure Lemmy meant 5 frames faster (i.e. he wants 8-frame throws back instead of 12-frame throws)... but apparently his math skills aren't any better than his discussion skills.

    KoD: Good point, didn't think of that. I guess the additional block stun could be an enforced 3-frame turn, counting as additional disadvantage, after you block a move with sideguard? My only issue with that is that if you auto-turn after using it, and the game had so few side turned situations already, then side guard may not get used very much at all.

    Srider: First, your math could be wrong, as Myke said, side guard might not activate in a single frame. Also, I don't know if I like you're idea of OM changes. I actually like the diagonal dash... the ability to end up with your opponent back turned, say for example when wolf gets back-turned DM throw is more interesting than the guaranteed side throw every time.

    Courtesy of Mr.Liv272 on Ruliweb, here is some information on the much anticipated VF5R. I assume some of these infor can be redundant. Please bear with me on that. Information with a questions mark has not been confirmed.



    Offensive moves

    No more OM P or OM K
    There exists two different types of OMs (according to the distance against opponent)



    Throw damage

    0 frame throw does more damage(?)
    Neutral throw damage has gone up (universal change)
    Throws with guaranteed ground throw got nerfed.
    Back throw damages have gone up significantly.



    Wall combos

    When you use a big move during your wall combo, it causes a leg crumple for additional damage opportunity.


    Side guard system

    Side guard makes a different sound effect than regular guard.

    Two common situations:
    1. Guarding short range OM.

    2. Now you are able to guard a canned follow up when being hit by a string move to the side.




    Rising attacks

    Motions have been changed, and now they come out significantly faster. Much harder to guard them.




    Bounce combos

    Ver.C type bounce combos are no longer possible, but there seems to be different type of bounce combos(?)



    Low P

    Motions have been changed. Property changes are being discussed as of now. High P seems slower(?)


    Neutral pose

    Characters have unique pose at the start of a round.


    After rounds

    You can't do a down attack(3P or 3K) on a defeated opponent anymore.

    Stomach crumple on CH
    Floats higher on NH
    Range is shorter


    26P,P
    No more canned follow-up from Single palm. =VF4 ver.C style.


    Shoulder ram

    Command changed to from crouch 3P+K

    P,P

    Not as delayable anymore



    43P+G

    Motion changed similar to that of the catch throw 2 or 8 P+K.
    (e.i. 43P+G, 66KK combo)


    64P+G 2 or 8 P+K

    Motion changed to that of 43P+G in VF5


    46P+G combo

    46P+G,P,43P,Dbl palm combo damage has gone up. Dbl palm has to be
    buffered now by doing 1146P or 3346P.


    P+K6P

    Command changed to P+K,P


    New moves

    3P

    An elbow that Looks simliart to Kazuya’s 3RP in Tekken---??


    1P
    A double palm like move


    4PP

    A new move that hits high, high


    6P+K
    Slow but causes crumple on hit
