Tomorrow, June 10--today, by the time you read this, no doubt--is the birthday of both Yu Suzuki of Sega and Yoshiki Okamoto of Capcom, according to this fine famous-person birthday database. Yu is 45 while Mr. Okamoto is 42. Both became huge names in the early-to-mid parts of the 1990s (though their biggest contributions to the industry arguably occurred far before then), both got involved in high-risk, high-hype projects around the turn of the century, and both ended up shunned within their own companies when said projects failed.

Mr. Suzuki, of course, still runs AM2 and managed to keep a seat in Sega's recently-shaken-up boardroom, although how much power he has within the current Sega structure is something I'm not privy to.
