OMG, people who have bene to the MoAT!!!

Any chances to get a hold of the videos of the tournament?

Who were the six tetsujins again? I'm sure about these 4.

    Ikebukuro Sarah
    Shinjuku Jacky
    Bunbunmaru (Wolf)
    Kashiwa Jeffry

But then not sure about these other fours:
    Yukikaze (Shun)
    K.K. (Shun)
    Kyasao (Kage)
    T.S (Kage)

I thought they were elected already during VF1, so there shouldn't be any Shuns...

    It's in the Jargon file:

Tetsujin•The top players in Japan... the original six were: T.S. (Kage), Kashiwa Jeffrey (Jeffrey), Bun Bun Maru (Wolf), Ikebukuro Sarah (Sarah), Shinjuku Jacky (Jacky), K.K. (Shun). •Some of the names come from the area where that player comes from or dominates (eg. Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Kashiwa)

They became a big deal during VF2, VF1 was a much smaller scene but the guys like Sarah and Jacky were probably already known at that time.

Joji Suzuki I think was the guy who kept us all posted on what was going on over there.

We never took any videos of ourselves in our little group, we just knew each other from USENET postings or from local play (I met BigCat Jon Takana in an arcade).

Shinjuku Jacky and Ikebukuro Sarah and all those guys wouldn't even know who we were I'm sure. They also seem to still be at it:

I did the jargon file, but I read a report of Maximum Battle 2 in which Kyasao and Yukikaze were mentioned as tetsujins instead of T.S and K.K.

but yeah, Ikebukuro Sarah is still about

Yeah, Jo-Shun rented that house and his girlfriend imported the VF machine so that we could have that tournament. Pretty amazing dedication!

Good news is we're in the process of getting the MoAT tapes captured! Bad news is that we still don't have MoAT2.1 which showcased all the improvements in playing.

Colin was great fun and had a scary scary Lau. Took Lan's (our homegrown Lau) to pieces.

    Ah memories.

This tetsujin stuff sounds like some fairy tale. That was quite the cool thing for SEGA to do by making them icons.

    VF's history seems really cool.

Does anyone remember the recorded matches for the PC version of VF2? Most, if not all Tetsujins were featured in the matches. I'll NEVER forget one of them. It was BunBunMaru vs. Ikebukuro Sarah. It came down to the last hit of the last match. The way it ended was awesome!

Sarah had her back turned, she did /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and BunBun reversed the kick with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (Wolf's only reversal, and to make it worse only for side kicks). The amount of Yomi (reading) there was incredible, as long as it wasn't staged, but I doubt it.

    Crazy stuff!

I read some reports of a a VF3 tournament where Akira Kid participated. Reportedly, he reverse boduchecked an opponent and when this tried to interrupt (with a low backfist) the follow-up attack of Akira Kid, the latter hopped over the low backfist and, as he landed, punished with a SPoD...

well I have the PC version of VF2 (online play, anyone?) and the replays were decent. I can look at getting some of the better ones fraped and uploaded onto youtube.

The Yomi is great in the upper players but you need to realize that Option Select plays a huge part as well. db+P gets you a sidekick reversal or a low punch and in VF2 low punch is a really safe bet.

No promises though about fraping, I'm pretty lazy right now. If it isn't work or laying about, I'm not interested /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

great post... this would be a great idea.

Hardcoregaming.com definately needs to be in VFwiki mainly because it was the one that helped link the VF community in the beginning when the internet gained momentum... I hear ed cruz, hg.com creator, is still active in VF,, but is also now a family man with 2 kids. dont know where Travis is ,,, game411 ,, but Shota is back in japan at least and is a microsoft man.

me ,, im still missing taka /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I think you missed Segaru(wolf). Daimon Lau is not a tetsujin though, so replace him with Segaru and the list should be correct.

It turns out Yukikaze and K.K. are the same person. Therefore the only remainign doubt is between Kyasao and T.S.

Sources are the VF3 jargon page on harcoregaming and a report of Maximum Battle 2 from vfdc.
