sorry i hope i wasn't giving the impression that i'm being elitest or anything with my posts because thats not my intention /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif. i don't think anyone here is trying to alienate you or anything, we're just trying to encourage discussion which will hopefully, eventually improve our VF gameplay. towards that end its just that some people here find some of your strategical choices to be questionable. like llanfair pointed out, if your akira opponent missed the second part of SPoD, that leaves them open to a guaranteed throw opportunity so training yourself to respond automatically with a throw in said scenario would probably be the best choice, especially when you consider that shun has two single directional throws to compliment his usual [P]+[G] throw (allowing you to mixup easily).

Cuz: i actually consider shuns Drunken Walk ([8]|[2]+[P]+[K]+[G]) to be one his better moves. what a lot of starting shun players may not realize is that its a sort of inashi against virtually every attack in the game! hence you can use it to evade a plethora of moves, including stuff like akira's dbpm which i'll make an example of:

i'm sure everyone knows that akira players love to dbpm after techrolling in an attempt to stuff your attack attempts every once in a while right?? ok after connecting shun's [1]+[K],[K] do a [3]+[P]. as you probably know, shun's [3]+[P] is his equivalent of the 'low scoop' move (thats the term i use to describe those moves that hit so low to the ground they can keep lifting you of the ground and doing damage till you decide to techroll. other examples of moves like these are leifei's IN [K] or jeffry's [2]+[K]+[G]). if the opponent chooses to not TR/QR, you can do multiple [3]+[P]'s and eventually just finish off with a quick pounce for some good damage. if however they do decide to techroll, your [3]+[P] will have a lot of lag and leave you open to a mixup or probably a dbpm (in the akira players eyes /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif). if the akira decides to dbpm thinking they can catch you in your [3]+[P] recovery, do the drunken walk here (either direction) for an easy evade. because of the dbpm's heavy recovery you'll be ripe in position now for a BT [K]+[G]|BT [P]+[G] mixup! (substitute a BT [2]+[K] in case you don't have 5dps yet but then keep in mind the mixup can be evaded altogether. it hasn't happened to me yet but i thought i should mention it anyway).

next time round if the akira player knows his stuff they'll know that they can just wait out the drunken walk (which you might do in anticapation of the dbpm) and CH you after a slight delay, because the inashi only occurs during the start of the drunken walk animation (otherwise it would naturally be too powerful given that you can evade damn near anything in the game with it). however if you anticapate this slight delay, then you can CH them while they wait to see you activate ur drunken walk.
hence you have a perfect CH chouwan opportunity here. the whole setup is a little risky but if you can anticapate your opponent well, the risk/reward ratio is definitely worth the effort IMO. i use this setup quite a bit now-with quite a few variations put in of course but you can workout further options yourself. i merely posted this setup to demostrate the usefulness of the drunken walk /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

additionally i've outlined a few cool strategies you can use after the second hit of the drunken walk canned followup connects.
they're posted under my name in the big EVO shun thread. here's the link /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif:
