3rd party controllers: Madcatz pad vs Hori pad

Hori Pad has the best D-Pad of all the 3rd party 360 pads, but if you are a light button flicker (press buttons ultra fast with little pressure) than the buttons may cause you trouble, you must PRESS the button... this is not a problem for people who firmly push down buttons.
As for the non-fighting game stuff such as the Analog Sticks, bumpers and triggers... the bumpers are decent, the triggers are crap, the Analog sticks are 3rd party average.

Madcatz Pad's is better than the 1st party D-Pad but its not a good as Hori's/ The face buttons however r are very good and the button presses are better than Hori's.
As for the non-fighting game stuff: The Triggers and Analog sticks are very good, you can easily play FPS's with it, the bumpers are better than MS's but not as good as Hori's bumpers.

I desperately need an alternative for my 360 controller, i'm currently playing analog (because the Dpad is made of suck and fail) and it's a nightmare because i'm used to the ps2 dual shock dpad. The madcatz pro pad seems to be getting good reviews but I read some posts on different forums that madcatz controllers tend to break rather easily or that the rubber from the analog sticks come off easily. Doesn't sound like real Quality.
I know one place that sells hori pads but I haven't read much about those aside from the above post by wasted.

Wasted can you recommend the hori pad as a good alternative for the normal 360 controller? I normally bash my buttons pretty hard but i'm afraid (based on what you said) that the buttons on the hori can cause unwanted or delayed input.

noob to the virtua series here.

What is the reason I don't see anyone (save for spoon) saying they use the analog stick because of the bad dpad. I've always used it for doa and now for VF5 (got it 2 days ago) and I'm okay with it.

And I see some a lot of people badmouthing the hori arcade stick. Is that because they are demanding a lot on account of being high level players? Or does it just suck that bad? I am just a noob who learning, but mostly playing for fun and I've never had a arcade stick before. Would anyone recommend it for someone like me?

Alright, so I may just go with the Madcatz pad. It's pretty cheap, d-pad's decent and it saves me from having trouble with face buttons. Which one do you think you'll be using most, warped?

I will start with the Hori because the d-pad is better, another thing i forgot to mention about the Madcatz is that its d-pad is slippery and polished.

I tried some Akira in the demo with both controllers and I managed better with the Hori pad than the Madcatz, that`s my impression.

Use the normal Madcatz pad if you can, mate. There's some nice, large soldering points on it to work with. I can't speak for all the 3rd party pads, but it's far easier to work with than the official MS one. It's far too easy to pull the tracks from the board with the slightest pull.
It might be worth spending a little bit more, just to know that it's going to be fairly sturdy.
I used one when I built my stick and even though it was my first attempt at soldering, it went really well.

I bought this stick knowing that I have had issues with a stick in the past. Of course the issue remains! I just don't understand how people use it. The buttons of course are no issue, its the damn "stick" its self!! I am practicing though but only in quest mode. I can still own with the 360 controller just have to be a little less greedy with the thumb on the Dpad.
