Less than two hours ago, Sega live-streamed an announcement and in depth look at the upcoming Virtua Fighter x esports (Or Ultimate Showdown, as it's known outside Japan). The full stream lasted just over an hour and we have an in-depth breakdown of the main points covered.
We're finally ready to announce VF Global Showdown, an international tournament taking place during Q4 2022. The tournament will feature a top 8 from EU, NA and Japan. Those who qualify will be going to an offline final which will take place in Scotland at the end of 2022. Read on for all the rules for qualifying alongside clarifying any questions people have about the event.

The winner usually accepts on good faith terms, indulging the loser's chance for redemption with a quiet confidence that it's all in vain. In the Japanese #VirtuaFighter scene, a similar concept exists by the name of the Sendai Rule.

The 2nd Ankoku Bujutsu-kai (Darkness Martial Arts Tournament) will see its final 8-man tournament held Sunday 23 August 2020. As a result of major offline events being cancelled due to the pandemic, this online-only event in being organised and hosted by Tetsuko and Homestay Akira. On this day in 2010, SEGA released Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown for Japanese arcades, followed by a international console release two years later for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Fifty one Sake brewers from around Japan will come together at the Tokyo Sake Festival 2020, held on August 11th to 16th. Part of this year's festival is a 'Game Legends Sake Series', which features collaboration between various video game series.

On 25th January 2020, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown was held as a Side Tournament at Evo Japan 2020. This community event was organised by @Tetsuko_Yamada and saw entries capped at 64 players, comprised of Japanese locals and a few international competitors as well.
