WTF is wrong with the Japanese players?!?!?!

Been playing VF5 online for a while now, and it really pisses me off when people refuse to play by walking backwards and ringing themselves out. I didn't really know why they did this, until I noticed that they were all Japanese players, which I've played before.

I read through some of the posts here, and someone mentioned that Japanese players don't like ground throws and pounds? WTF? Then learn to tech-roll or throw escape, damn it!!! It's not that hard!!!

I think it's ridiculous that they "don't like" ground throws...well, I don't like being hit with low punches, being thrown, getting juggled, staggered, crumpled...but I deal with it!!! I thought the whole point of the game was to learn to deal with different attacks, so why are ground throws any different? Especially when you use a throw based character like Goh, Aoi or Jeff, where ground throws are another dimension of their arsenal...I mean, Goh's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is useless if they don't tech roll, and they're not going to tech roll if I don't pound/ground throw them a few times. You're basically getting rid of a subset of a character's moves, which punishes these characters and rewards the strike-based characters.

Anyway, what do other people think about these "etiquette" and rules? The reason why I am so pissed of is that I was unaware of "polite" ways to play VF5, and nobody every told me I wasn't supposed to ground throw (especially since it's so easy to tech-roll or throw escape from them). And I think it's especially ridiculous that it's a "Japanese thing", since we're playing a Japanese game! If it's so rude in Japanese culture to ground-throw or pound, why did the Japanese devs put them into the game in the first place?

Also, are there other "rules" which I'm not aware of that pisses people off to a point that they stop playing you, walk backwards and ring themselves out?

LOl, 3 reasons why they might be quitting:

    1) you suck (to them)
    2)lag
    3)japan only please!

that rule of stomping, grabing....there is no such rule, what you read was about stomping AFTER the round ends, when the opponent is on the ground ..dead. this was considered MANY YEARS AGO to be sorta rude, but nowadays noone cares, even the japanese. if there is still people that get annoyed at being stumped while dead, please do it MORE! its a very childish thing to be annoyed at...

Here's what I think, everyone has things that piss them of. But if its in the game use it. Goh has these moves for a reason, its part of his arsenal. Its not like he has a plethora of offensive combos. Once youre on the ground its your responsibility to get up withought taking damage. Now personally I dont like Lau or Lion jumping on my dead body repeatedly.

    I thought about these...but

    1. I beat them when I played them before, and they were trying. In one instance the person played for one round, lost that round, then stopped playing after that round, and I was ground throwing that person in the first round a lot because he refused to roll away or TE. But it also wasn't I was beating them *badly* either, they were all fairly even matched fights.
    2. There was no lag, at all.
    3. Ok, I didn't know about this one. How do they know where I am from? And more importantly...why does it matter?

And no, I don't pound on people after the round is over...

The Japanese are very racist from what I've heard(heard not know, don't jump on my ass and give me a cultural lesson). At least the ones in the arcades anyways.

It's possible it was laggy on their end, and they stopped playing because of it. I've had many player matches where the person said the match had really bad lag, but it was fairly smooth on my end.

It's still one of the things I'm not sure about though since I don't know what other people define as lag. Every game will have lag, but I don't really mind unless it's like a slideshow and moves start coming out seconds after you input them.

i haven't been playing that long, but from the few
times i've noticed a few things [by the way, i'm
    an average player]
    1) unranked battles - people don't really care
where you are from, and will play you, going all
out....in fact, i sometimes like watching them beat
me, because they do some amazing combos

ranked battles - this is more serious, and if you
are ranked low, they may want to skip you, and get
better competition (up their rank) etc..

    2) dont send comments, etc, obviously english replies
    are usually ignored

    3) i didn't notice any lag on my end, even with the
gray box, but i don't really know what the other
user is experiencing, so i give them benefit of the doubt

    4) if they're not fighting, ring yourself out (if you can),
and move on to another player

    5) i saw something about player reputation, where if you
give them negative preference (no pun intended) they will
not be matched up with you in the future..

    6) some players identify themselves with their country
in their username, ie : [akira1] jp , so this could
tip you off should you decide to match up against them

    7) unless EVERY japanese player is doing this to you,
don't pigeonhole all of them, like i said, i'm no
match for most of the ones i've played, but i still
try, and can hold my own given the right characters

    8) don't take it too personally, theres always other
players, make friends, do private invites, set up
custom matches.....honestly, even with the 70-80%
connecting rate that i had, i NEVER had to wait more
than a minute or two at the most to get another player
(this is during weekdays, evenings though)..

    later

WTF is wrong with the American/European players? They always try to join me with the gray box when I'm hosting, wtf.

I find it hard to believe that America to Japan can have 'no lag, at all'. I find Japanese players pretty laggy sometimes, thats why I generally avoid playing ranked. I've never had anyone ring themselves out against me except once when the game was lagging really bad.

The only strange thing that happened to me against the Japanese was a ranking match in which I would get demoted if I lost. This Kage player starts ringing himself out the first two rounds and in the third he didn't even try too hard to beat me, so I won. He basically wanted to save my ass from demotion! I thought it was great. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I also noticed high ranked players have no problem disconnecting if they lost the first two rounds. This happens to me A LOT. I even got disconnections after they lost the first round and my matches with them are as lag-free as you can get online.

And by all means, after the round ends save the stomps and kicks for when you're playing Quest mode.

i play with some of them and they are fine to me.

Wow, this is interesting. In all of my matches, I have only had one guy ring himself out and no one has ever dropped on me. Since I only play Japanese players, I always check their profiles afterwards to look for additions to the friends list. I have found a large number of them that say they only want to play people in Japan and they will sack the match if it is laggy. Of course, this is all written in Japanese so it probably doesn't do most people a hell of a lot of good.

I played 3 player matches with a japanese player despite the lag, i quit after the 3rd and supposedly that warrants a negative review stating that I quit early.....

    hmmm

The guy who rung himself out on me "avoided" me. I think a guy I demoted "avoided" me too.

Yes, stomp him. It is a stupid stupid thing to get pissy about.

    Nice picture.

After a million matches against the cpu in VF3 and 4 and Evo and 5 on PS3 I get used to seeing which moves hit a KOed body and then I use them. It's hard not to do it against people. So what? Do it to me if you win. I don't care. Jesus, what is wrong with people?

I have quite a few friends on my list that are japanese or oriental and I had an easy time getting them to honor me as a respectful foe. I don't jump on them at all during the match and just back up after the match even though they go after me on the ground the whole time and I never complain about it once. I even had the number of people that ring themselves out reduced dramatically as well even though by avoidance rate that as 50% jumped to 58% of all a sudden but I just laugh at it all. If they hate being stomped on after the fight is over too bad they should learn to get up faster but have a few of them on your friends lists helps to bring other like them to you. That is what I am playing nice for the time being and limiting my stomping of grounded foes.
