I play Kage and I wanted to find videos of the best Kage players in the world to see how they play and to help improve my game, I know Ryan Hart is a good Kage player but can anybody tell me some other people who are the best with Kage so I can search for clips with them in it. Thanks.

The most famous kage players are yoro and kyasao. Skeleton also plays a great kage, and minami kage is famous too (for low punching too much). Search for those names on this board and you can get maybe the filenames of movies featuring them. Once you have a list of filenames, drop by irc and see me, I can send you those movies.

I think Minami's the best, because he developed the Minami Steps, which is used by advanced Kage and Akira players

Minami Kage & Minami Akira are two different fellas. Minami Akira is the mad stepping fella while Minami Kage is the infamous [2][P] whore. But hey, whatever works, right?

The best Kage players imho are in this order:

1st: Skeleton: This guy has dominated the Kage scene from the vf3tb days, I remember Chibita once saying that Skeleton was perhaps once the very best player on VF3tb. When I was in Japan I remember people steering clear of his machine as he was sooooo strong. He is very feared even still, I even heard about Yoro and Jin trying to ring themselves out faster than the other in a quite recent tourney cos none of them wanted to face Skeleton who was the waiting winner on the other bracket. Kinda funny :p

2nd: Yoro: I think he is second, his mind works very well during matches and I can see he has done his homework. I don't see any other Kage topping this guy apart from Skelebones.

3rd: Jin: Dont really know what to write about this guy, me and him had a little rivalry when I was in Tokyo, He was okay then but I can see that he has gotten a lot better since I was there. Good luck to him.

4th: Kyasao: Fast, aggresive, strong and precise. Nuff said.

Even though I wrote ranking numbers next to them, it doesn't mean I think the other one can't ever beat the other. Maybe these gaps are tiny but I do believe they exist. I haven't seen some of these guys play in a while but I reckon the ranking won't have changed.

I rate these guys over me cos of their in-match experience.

The one on one percentages with me Kage.V.Kage is something like this:

    Ryan . VS . Kyasao - 50/50

    Ryan . VS . Jin - 60/40

    Ryan . VS . Skeleton - 40/60

    Ryan . VS . Edo - 60/40

    Ryan . VS . Mukki(Kage) 50/50

Ryan .VS . Yoro - Sorry, never played him

Ryan . VS . Minami Kage - Sorry, never played him

    Ryan . VS . Ice 9 - 50/50 (I'm up,oh no I'm down,yes I'm up,oh no I'm down again /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

    Ryan . VS . IMF - 60/40

Ryan . VS . UK guy - Sorry, haven't played a Kage session with him for ages, can't remember who wins and by how much.

    Ryan . VS . Myke - 60/40

When I was in Japan I saw loads of good Kage players, as good as all these guys so maybe trying to find the best Kage player just isn't gonna work. Good luck anyway though.

Can't think of any other top Kage players. All the above results are from the very last time I played that particular person. If I played all those people today, I think all the results would be different but anyway.

    Laterz, Ryan

    Probably 60/40 to you /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Is it me or is Kage vs Kage just so BORING, I mean two Akira's (i.e. Mukky vs Ohsu on the green book DVD) can be well fun and I do like a good double Jacky fight, but anytime I see two Kages I get sleepy...unless one of them is Skeleton /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My top 3 favourite Kage players to watch at the moment are:

    1. Yoro
    2. Ichirouta
    3. Jin

I have to also mention the other well known Kage players:

    - Kyasao: a pioneer and legend, though doesn't play as regularly anymore and his game somewhat shows it.

    - Skeleton: Idon't like his safe/defensive/machi playing style but his solid play sometimes impresses me.

    - Ed: I don't see anything remarkable about him in videos I've seen, but his performance kind of speaks for itself. Solid player, but you'll rarely see something new or unique.

At Evo2k3, during a conversation I was having with Yamagishi (Beat-Tribe) we talked about who the current best Kage players are in Japan. We both agreed that Yoro was currently the best and I still feel that way.

Internationally speaking I have to give props to:

    - Ryan Hart
    - uk-guy
    - IMF
    - ice-9
    - danny13

If I had to put money on any Kage in a tournament, it would be Yoro's.

    1) He's remarkably consistent. He always qualifies for major tournaments and frequently places quite highly.

    2) He has an adaptable style. He can play ultra-machi or he can be uber-aggressive. Whatever he needs to win.

    3) His reflexes are amazing. Just watch any of his vids.

    4) He has nerves of steel. His mental concentration simply doesn't break down that often.

That said, I would have to say that Kyasao's Kage is probably my favorite. It's just so stylish, fluid, and fresh, and he plays with the confidence of someone who knows he's good and can win, but doesn't play like he has to at all costs. But, I agree that his Kage is probably not as strong in tournament play as some of the others. (This thread mentions four, but in reality there are sooo many strong Kages in Japan. Just look at KSII).

Skeleton was simply awesome in VF3. Watching him play was inspirational. But I think his style is more suited to VF3's system than VF4's. While he is still dominant today, personally I don't think he's as jaw-dropping as he was before.

As for me...I am waaaay at the bottom of the food chain. Too damn inconsistent, and still vulnerable to certain styles that I'm not used to.

You gotta respect who got you into the game, and Kyasao did that for me. I've seen a number of his matches, and I think it's like ambrosia. However, if you want to talk about the Kage with the biggest clanking bronze balls, anyone who was at Evo2k3 remembers:

    [4][1][2][3][6][P][4][1][2][3][6][P][4][1][2][3][6][P]

    and

    [6][6][P]+[K]+[G]

That wins my respect and admiration any day of the week. You're still the man, Myke. Honestly, not enough people judge players on how cool they are. All true VFers should pass out in the bathroom and make fools of themselves in front of large groups of people. That's what it's all about. I think Kyasao is having a blast when he's playing, and so I consider him the best.
