This video is distrubing... so Kage gets Ken's hcbx2+k super, and Akira gets 100 points of damage of basically nothing... and Lau more damage... Brad is a button mashers heaven.. and Wolf gets yet another useless roar stance.
WTF is wrong with the picture? the Strong gets stronger and the weak gets a fucking football helmet? Final Tuned has finally tuned out any skill required to play Akira/Lau/Kage!!

Look closely shang, that Akira combo is wall only...kage hits a wall.

i saw the video at least 20times.

    FINAL TUNED = FINAL PWNED

    if you don't play akira/lau/kage.

consider they were fighting on blank backgrounds, can we safely assume there'll be new stages? I'd bet some $ on it...

It seems Lau is weakened. At least the [9][P] --> [3_][P][P][P][K] is gone since [9][P] doesn't float opponent anymore. I love Lau's [9][P] and [8][K] in Evo. I hope they don't take away his [8][K], too. /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

    OMG /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif!!! I LOVE THIS!!

    Now to play devil's advocate:

Akira: So finally a better use for that [P]+[K] Sabaki from [1]+[G]+[P]+[K]!! Ok so I can't say anything here, +1 for Akira. But the [P][K] > dlpm after the crumple.... Seems OK! Like what the other guys said, it's a wall-combo. Maybe it doesn't lift that high without it. EDIT: I forgot to mention the [1]+[G]+[P]+[K],[P]! Executes faster + recovers faster? *WooT* .... /Looks at Akria haters and balance doubters..... What? Those moves gotta have some more uses, yeah? /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Brad: Sway after multiple punches = nice... In both cases it's done after 3 punches. So maybe you can't sway after those unless you get 3 punches in first. If that's the case, it's not THAT bad to deal with /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

As for that crumpling kick after the sway, notice Brad does some sort of taunt afterwards (like Jackey), meaning it could prolly be punished if blocked (If it doesn't block-stagger or something; maybe an even situatoin after block).

Jackey: No complaints, nice kicks /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif!

Kage: Now what's wrong with those kicks after the shoryuken? 1st one seemed just like a new variety of a TFT combo; prolly around the same damage too. The catch is that it seems TR just-frameable; which can prolly rise you right next to Kage with either an even situation or maybe rising attacker has small advantage. 2nd combo was ok for me too, slightly more damage than his 3 hitter (in that situation) in Evo?

Lau: I have no idea how this works. Both are hit throws? Are they just showing the new jumping punch before both throws or does it give Lau a small advantage or something to make landing a hit throw easier? There was a small guaranteed combo in Evo for that; maybe it's a guessing game here? Again, no clue.

Wolf: Maybe that back throw is only guaranteed if screw lariat hits as counter (Akira was shown at disadvantge, then evading to eat the lariat). Maybe it can be escaped as a special case (seems unlikely though)? I like it actually!

So yes, I am defending everything I saw. The reason is that I have complete confidence that they won't screw up the balance of the game. They've been refining it with each installment and upgrade, and there is no reason for us to think otherwise for this one just because of this footage (with no move damages or anything). It reminds me of the Evo footage with a tiny bit more flash; also most of the combos shown were quick and nice. More speed in combos = more fun IMO. I'd rather eat that flurry of kicks after a TFT than wait for a normal TFT combo to finish (ok I am exaggerating here but I do like the kicks /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif).

Also remember, for anyone in doubt, there is always VF4 FT Version B /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Edit: Sorry if I used incorrect move-names; never been good at it!

it's not a roar stance thing. if you look closely, akira's P is guarded, followed by an evade. wolf does a NEW semi-circular attack into what i assume will be a hit throw.. it's NOT screw lariat, he spins the wrong way and hits akira with a backhand, not with a fist. so surely that's GOOD news? certainly more useful than a simple changed PK animation, anyway.
i agree about the stages though.. notice how the background to that akira picture was animated? very interesting..

oh and lau doesn't have 2 hit throws.. that's the same one from 2 different angles.

    looks good /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Great movie, FT looks pretty hot to me so far.

    AKIRA

    <ul type="square">[*][1][P]+[K]+[G][P] (guarded) - (new) Sabaki against mid - [6][6][K][K]
I'm guessing it's a mid sabaki because it animated like one of his middle kick reversal. So if it is indeed a mid sabaki, then he's got all levels covered now.

    <ul type="square">[*][4][P]+[K]+[G][6][P] - (new) [P][K] against wall - DbPm
I don't know what the big deal with Akira's new [P][K] is. So it's has a new animation, big deal!? He can already crumble - [P][K] (wall) - DbPm so there's nothing new there. From the way it animates (looks similar to Lei's [6][6][K]) I'm going to guess that the new [P][K] is linear, which isn't good for Akira since it used to be half circular.

    BRAD

<ul type="square">[*](new) Triple Upper (guessing [3][P][P][P]?) into Sway Back(!), making Lau's elbow whiff then immediately into a new [P][P][K][K] type combo.
This new combo looks very interesting. The two middle kicks looked pretty fast and the knockdown on the last one looks like it can't be teched. Seeing as he went straight from Sway Back into this combo, then it's probably only available from this stance. I also wonder if it's guaranteed on minor counter.

    <ul type="square">[*][6][P][6] - (new) Ducking Sabaki - [P] - [P] - [3][P]+[K][P]
This is the one I've been waiting for! This Sabaki is exactly what Brad needs to protect himself during Ducking, especially when in a disadvantage.

<ul type="square">[*](new) Triple Upper - Sway Back - (new) Low kick
We see the triple upper into sway back again, but this time Lau's [2][P] whiffs and the new Sway Back Low kick scores the minor counter and foot crumble! Don't know if the little animation after the kick is actually in the game or just there for the presentation.

    JACKY

    <ul type="square">[*][6][6][K] (guarded) - dodge - (new) double kick
Looks very flashy, very Jacky! I like it!

    <ul type="square">[*][3][3][K] - [P] - [K][P](new)[K]
A middle spin kick followup to the [K][P] combo.
Edit: just read spotlite's post, and I made a mistake here. Looks like a new combo after a mid kick ([3][K]?).

    KAGE

    <ul type="square">[*][4][K] (guarded) - (new) back turned cartwheel - TFT - [2][P]+[K] - (new) Dragon Punch combo
Two new things here. The back turned cartwheel was fast enough to dodge Akira's DbPm when he was disadvantaged, so that's good! And the new 4-hit DP combo looks very hot, very ninja! /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif The 4 hits are two punches, two kicks, and last kick still slams. Though I wonder what the recovery is going to be like, especially if someone techs the slam.

<ul type="square">[*]JM mid kick reversal - JM dodge - (new) Dragon Punch combo.
Another use for the dragon punch combo. Looks handy if you need that sideways RO.

    LAU

<ul type="square">[*](new) Jumping Punch combo - (new) back turned hit-throw
This looks weird to me. After the jumping punches, Lau doesn't appear to be back turned, but it seems that he immediately does the BT [P]+[K] into a hit-throw. Any ideas? I don't think Lau players should worry so much about losing the old jumping punch (assuming it's even gone?), because the [8][K] will probably be there still, and it's just as good at beating low attacks.

    WOLF

    <ul type="square">[*]Screw Lariat into a hit throw
Was it a hit-throw or did the screw lariat go into the back-catch? Both would be interesting, and scary, options.
Edit: just read Onny's reply and indeed it's not his Screw Lariat! Looks like a spinning back hand attack similar to Jeffry's [4][P]+[K].

I love the new sabaki. The old [1][P]+[K]+[G], [P]+[K] move sucked.

This new flowchart in the vid looks like Akira's starting off with standing palm, so:
    [4][6][P] (blocked) -> [1][P]+[K]+[G] [P] (blocked) -> sabaki -> [6][6][K][K] means Akira is even more vicious now.

Kage, Lau, and especially Brad seem to have improved also. I hope that's a [2][P] inashi from ducking. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Too bad there's no Goh in the clip.

My impression was that it was a new elbow that shifts into BT and executes the hit-throw. Can't figure out how that is related to the air-double-punch. Maybe it is the second part of a canned combo?

God damn Brad looks upped imo.

Sway back to a knockdown lowkick = pure gold (a real thai lowkick, really hope you can follow it up with something and not always animation). And is it just me but did that [P][P][K][K] combo look enterely garanteed if first hits as MC (kinda like Jerkys [9][P][P][P])? Sway back will be fucking enormous now so Onistompa - cheers man /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Being able to go into ducking from a diss now with the sabaki added? I just hope they haven't taken away
[6][P]>(duck)[P][P] uppercut or something like that cause if they haven't this will be mad guessinggames from hell. The Sabaki is also big pay of with Combo after [P][P][3][P]+[K],[P] against lau and it doesn't seem to be as hard counterable as I thought it would be (not TC atleast).

Now show me a new throw, something new from clinch and upped circulars (or just better stats like knockdown on normalhit / less counter / more speed on low / whatever) and we're good to go.

Btw; I find it hard to believe that they've redisigned ducking back and forth so much and left the slips untouched so looking forward to more as it comes in.

But this is fucking GOLD and I'll be beyond pissed if it doesn't show up on my PS2 (who wants to play Brad in Evo now???) before the end of the year.

The 3 body punches is the one I'm thinking about - is it truelly a combo or just the punch and then keeping yourself in stance and going on? If so, can you stop and play throw mixup games etc and lots more? Perhaps you can play this in combos like Jins Tekken series (pretty fast)?

Edit: Btw can't wait to see Goh. I've always felt he was being introduced as a counterpart in strenght to Akira (one a striker, one a thrower) and that Sega wanted him to be up there in the top so I have a feeling that he will get really powerful tune ups in FT.

Btw Myke, somebody: Can't FT get it's own thread gathering? It's kinda messy jumping forums for info and later on it will be confusing discussing moves of FT as opposed to Evo probably.

    wow...

can't wait for this game and I can't wait to hear AA's word on Kages Uppercut kicks, lol. Thats funny. As for the rest of the characters, nice lil touches. Akira looks eviler now, the dark hadou is consuming him!!!
Brad looks hella better now, I'm sure onny will rinse off those new moves /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif.
Lau looks the same to me, lol. Jacky has a double dragon kick rip off from Law in Tekken, lol. Wolfs new move looks SWEET!!! backhand into suplex = GOLD!

I'm sure this is only the first part of the video, I mean they couldn't of left out Goh, Aoi and the rest. Goh needs more stuff man! I'll be watching this space or the web for the next clip, I know there is one....there has to be... *hopes*

I'm sure it isn't gonnah be that bad, damage wise either, I'm sure they toned down the damage rate for Akira and Co.

Balance does not exist, there's only degrees of imbalance. Don't kid yourself thinking this version is about tuning, it's all about keeping the money rolling in for sega until vf5. That means: keeping the popular characters strong (akira/lau/jacky/kage), giving the rest of characters some candy and attracting new players (come and play brad Tekken players, come and play kage sf players). Tuning = fixing existing moves, not adding new ones. If they want to tune, they should nerf most of the characters in the video, not giving them more asskicking moves. Nothing is gonna be different, but i do hope they fix the fucking save system, and give us VF2 music back. How many revisions do they need to realize the current music sucks?
VF4FT, you are gonna die to 2 sdes, or 1 sde at the edge of a ring. not tuned.. pwned~

now that's something to "oooh~" about.

believe me, shang...I have no illusions about the road Sega is on; and for myself it will likely be the one less travelled on.

FT = Barf. I'll wait until December when they announce the "super hyper re-mixed special edition arcade classic" to get excited.
