Announced during the Exhibition Match at Tokyo Game Show, there will be an Open β Test for VF5 R.E.V.O. World Stage from October 1, 8 PM to October 6, 7:59 PM PDT (October 2 12 PM to October 7, 11:59 AM in Japan). So if you missed out on testing the cross play in September, you have another chance in October!

Closed β version of the game lacked many features and was intended to just test cross play. Maybe Open β will have more World Stage features for people to test out.

There was an issue in the Closed β where some arcades stick-type controllers did not worked on consoles. It is confirmed that PS4 licensed arcade-sticks should work during the Open β.

      Open Beta -
Day 1 Tests- I had a positive experience with Closed β (below opinion copy/pasted) and the experience with Open β is similar with 42 matches played--16 on PS5 & 26 on Steam. Majority of matches were cross play between platforms. Hopefully those that had a bad experience with Closed β will have a better one this time around.

I was expecting some additional features to test out during Open β, but so far it seems to have the same exact features as Closed β and none of the new features seen in Tokyo Game Show.

      Closed Beta -
I was late in providing feedback for Closed β, but never hurts to post it (Open β is this week). Closed β focus was to test cross play. I could not feel any differences when playing against people on the same platform versus cross platform. I played equally on both Steam & PS5 console-61 matches on each platform. Matchmaking found 48% of my matches versus players on different consoles (On Steam 58%, on PS5 35%).

I had 3 network connection issue, all 3 when playing on PS5. 2 of the errors on cross platform, 1 of the error on same platform. These errors did not seem to be very common, and overall the game experience seems fairly stable. Even though majority of my matches were played at default delay setting 2 (I had it set on delay setting 3), I was able to play comfortably those matches at ~30-80ms pings.

Since only online rank was available to test net code and players are forced to play on the lower delay setting between the two players...I do think there will be more negative opinion on net code during Closed β, especially those players not familiar with how delay settings work for VF.

If net code remains unchanged, I suggest a more detailed guide/explanation within game to assist people to make the best choice on delay setting (very important on how the game plays online). I see a lot of different opinions on the net code. If you did not like VF5REVO net code, you most likely will not like World Stage net code. If you were happy with VF5REVO net code, World Stage is on par or maybe slightly better.

There is the halo around the opponent.
Most visible: PS5, take Jean Kujo as an opponent, choose River or Statues stage, side walk around the standing still Jean = you'll see the halo , especially round his metal chain.
I am sure it is barely visible on all other stage but especially good on River and Statues (Akira's) stages.
Again, this issue is not existed on prev VF5US!

If you are agree with this issue, could you create a bug report too plz.

I noticed that crowd on El Blaze's stage has weird effect. I think @Combolammas has already mentioned that?

I play on the lowest settings and Blaze's stage is an absolute buggy mess on the background on the beta version. I think other people have also mentioned the graphical quality on other stages background on normal settings being different from the current version.

Here's what it looks like if you put everything on low

EDIT: YT compression makes it even worse than it really is. It's not like the healthbar is also glitching or there's giant artifacts in front of the screen but you can see how the background is all messed up on this stage.

Has anybody managed to play a decent match online? as soon as I enter the online mode the game starts moving underwater even before matching an opponent. I don't understand it, single player modes run flawlessly with max settings.

So, if anyone has given it a good try, how's the netcode of the beta? I joined the European R.E.V.O. tournament today after many months not fighting any other player, and I was shocked by how terrible it still performs online, even with players in the same region and wired by ethernet.
Recently I had the chance to play Guilty Gear Strive and BlazBlue CentralFiction against a friend in Canada, and it's crazy how silky smooth they work, I can barely tell the difference from local multiplayer.

R.E.V.O. on the other hand just isn't in an acceptable state; it's a pity because it's the best fighting game ever made, and it was supposed to be the whole point of this release.... I really hope World Stage brings massive improvements to online performance, but maybe they haven't promised anything of the like and I'm just daydreaming.

Wouldve love to play this beta vs some one… But too bad 3rd party arcade sticks didn’t work except Sony’s. Probably some exclusive rights bullshit they did for the beta to promote their controllers. Sega Already starting off on the wrong foot.

Open beta has the same BUG with halo:

BUG: Halo around the character model!
There is the halo around the opponent.

People are still having arcade stick issues in the open beta? I'm using a Brook Wingman FGC and my VSHG works on the PS5 beta.

      Beta PS5.png
Beta Steam.png 3 Days of Open β World Stage. I played 74 matches each on PS5 & Steam. Same as Closed β, I could not feel any differences when playing against people on the same platform versus cross platform.

Majority of matches I played, accepting only matches less than 100ms ping, felt fine. I set delay at 3 (most matches were played at 2). The matches with issues (uncommon) or of special note are highlighted in red in the images. Also playing with fiber optics connection.

Reading social media & directly asking people their feeling of the game's net code is quite varied! So hopefully the rough edges can be smoothen out so more people can experience the game as it was intended to be played!
