I think it's a good idea that the game should be brought to the PS3 especially setting up the trophy system in which you have to complete certain quests on quest mode or gaining a rank or a certain item in order to get the platinum trophy for that game.

I'm confused about your post. VF4 Evo is out on PSN but only in Europe. Correct me if I am wrong.

I don't know if there are trophies available.

Some people have stated that the port wasn't perfect if I recall.

I looked for that, but I couldn't find it. I guess I have to be in Europe. I'm assuming it was just a straight port and not like an HD remix of some sort?

An HD port of Final Tuned would be pretty sweet...

If you have the will, i would recommend getting the PCSX2 emulator,
and "make a backup-disc image of your old VF4 and VF4Evo discs, and of your PS2 bios"

Not only can you have fancy internal HD-upscaling, much more involved then the PS3->PS2 emulation
    - you also get a lot of other fine-tuning options to have the nostalgic re-living of VF4.

Then again, showing support in some small way buy also buying it on PSN can be a positive thing. The former does not exclude the latter

You don't have to be in Europe per say. But you will need a European PSN account.

I've been told that the port isn't great. Can anyone who has it say one way or another?

Yeah, I have it too and it's not good. I knew that from the very beginning, but when it comes to VF, I just couldn't resist from buying it :p

What is not good about it? Frame rate drops? Color palette screwed up? Sound?

What? VF4 evo is on psn? I did not know this even though I have it on disc. How much is it? Does it have online play?

The L3 and R3 buttons were evo's Training Mode. So you could reset training and the combo counter or something I forget now. It was to basically make sure in tournaments you never pressed a random button too. I had two of those but they sadly broke down to wear and tear.. :(

Most ported PS2 games on PS3 tend to be bad. The CvS2 port suffers from 3 frame delay with smoothing on, but has 1 frame delay with smoothing off. You'd be best off just getting a fat 40 or 60GB PS3 and just buying the PS2 disc of VF4EVO. The single player experience alone is worth the investment.

Yes. PS2 version of VF4 Evo is on Euro PSN for 9.99€. Frame rate issues, stretched image. It's not a remake, it doesn't have online features.

I'd still recommend emulation, and if that is not available to someone, the original game on the original console (PS2) :).

Hmm, i should try recording a VF4/VF4Evo session sometime, for fun and science! or so.
