Those Vanessa clips are PAINFUL. Ow. Seriously, boy, learn some combos that actually WORK. 2 low punches after a crumple? There's no way that second one's gonna hit, even a basic [1_][K] or [2][K]+[G] after LP should be a gut reaction, if you miss the timing on [3][K] of course.

Well Zero when you put up your video's of your vane playing your imaginary friends out there in crazy people land maybe then you can be critical.

STFU. I'd glady load up some clips if I had the equipment/competition around here, which I don't. When you put up your own media (or writing, or whatever) in a public forum, you open it up to any sort of commentary from onlookers, be it good or bad.
I do have a right to be critical (as does anyone else), I've lived in Japan (and should be going back in the future), I've seen the best at play and still have a lot of contact with high-level players. They would have the exact same reaction, if not worse.

Not to say that Matty didn't have problems vs. him, I found myself wanting to scream "You could have stopped THAT so easy!" several times throughout. I remember there was a point where Matt tried whiffed lighting kicks, and then went into a (easily) whiffed kickflip where I was just "WTF? Why would ANYONE do that?" There charge/windup moves are simply used to often and eventually one should attempt to take advantage of both their slow windup and and recovery

No reason for you to be so bitchy, not everyone spend 9 months in Japan playing against the likes of Chibita and Heruru.
Show some consideration woman, you couldve said the exact same thing in a less confrontational way.

I agree but you had such a snotty fucking attitude with your criticism i had to tell you to can it. You aint that good hell your not even average.

How does knwoing people give you the right to talk? I know Earnest hemmingway can i know call Kurt Vonnegutt a hack because his stories lack structure? Answer = hell no i cant i can talk about the rules of writing but i cant write therefore i dont have any damn right to say anything about a novel or work of words.

Sigh, time to move some stuff.

Guys, in case you hadn't noticed:

    Goh and Shun = primaries
Vanessa and Lau = secondary fucking-around characters
Everyone else = wtf am I doing wheeee characters

I'll admit that while I was fully expecting people to think "man those clips stunk"... I didn't expect anyone to outright post it /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif Usually when crappy north american clips get posted, people just don't reply.. except to say [pat pat] 'heh that's nice. keep playing'.

Anyway I'm moving the flame part of this into general. It's an old favorite argument of mine. If you can't do it yourself, are you qualified to criticize it? A while ago I'd felt the answer was "Sure!" and posted some comments about a korean vanessa player. Later I wished I hadn't made them. It's everyone's right to post what they think, qualified or not, but if the post isn't made with an eye towards helping someone, what is it's purpose?

Well, seriously, how many gaming magazine writers/editors can actually make games? How many film critics can make movies? We all criticize things we really don't have that much understanding of... but considering Vane-chan is a character near and dear to my little heart, I have some expertise as to her use. I don't think I would piss and moan about a crappy Akira AS MUCH, since I have no freakin' clue how to use him.

All I can say is that for some strange reason LF has gained a vendetta against me (check out any of his responses to my posts) for some reason which I cannot fathom, as he met me once at Tyson's tourney almost a year and a half ago (when I admittedly wasn't half, nay, a quarter of how much I have managed to advance today) and didn't seem to have issues with me until I returned.

I'm admittedly only average on a Japanese level, but the fact that I could hold up so well against people who played devotedly for years beforehand made me feel a lot more confident about myself and my improved play.

Is it wrong to point out another person's obvious mistakes? Sometimes learning is a harsh teacher.

As if you've never been confrontational in your writing? XP Not just here, either...

Your first question is easy to answer reviewers do not say if something is good or bad. I mean how would they there is no technical chart that says what makes a game good or bad is there. They tell you if they liked it or not and for what reasons. Well atleast a good reviewer does. Then on that opinion of theirs and based on how you have agreed with them in the past you decide if you thinks you would like the game/movie or not and proceed from there. If you would of came on and said i didnt like the play in these clips as it was not my style or what not I would not of posted. You on the other hand came on and said they were bad clips and the vanessa player was wrong and how in the world was it possible to make such mistakes. There is a large difference between the two.

I have nothing against you in person zero-chan you seemed nice if a little akward. You made good progress that day at tysons tourney. On the internet however you come off as some sort of more hardcore than though gamer and i and some other people were tired of no one saying anything so i just took it upon myself to comment when you do this type of thing.

heh a minor quibble lonelyfig, reviewers say if something is good or bad all the time. They're giving their opinion on whether they liked it or not, sure... but they imply that something is bad if they hate it and good if they love it.

Very often, they come right out and say it. "This movie is 1 star. The acting, directing, everything about it is just plain horrid." ... or "I give this game a 30. The control sucks, the design is weak, it's too short, and it's not fun".

Nowhere in those two statements is "this food is not my style" or "this type of game isn't my thing".

Lonelyfig also has a point about you coming across as harsh zero, but I personally haven't been offended by anything yet. Josh might have, since it's his vanessa. Josh is pretty tough to offend in general though. Just last week someone called him a queer /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Also, for the record, if you DO plan on criticizing and want to say your vanessa is decent by japanese standards, you should post specifics... like what combo josh should be doing when he gets a crumple in that stance, or what I'm supposed to do to destroy those slow windup vanessa moves. It'd be quite helpful for those of us with less experience.

Well, for starters, an instantaneous reaction for a crumple against Vanessa should be to enter the two low throw escapes (for you). He was majorly abusing the low throw opportunity there. The most common and effective crumple combo is [2][P] and then [3][K]. Sometimes you can tell if you mistimed the [2][P], in which case the sidekick won't hit, so go for a low kick or sweep. If the sidekick hits and the opponent doesn't techroll, you can get in the low kick/sweep as well.

Vs the charge moves, low punch stops the running tackle (the one that goes into the mount), a simple dodge avoids a [4][K]+[G], and a [6][6][P][K] can be nailed in windup with anything decently fast, or blocked high (don't duck) for an easy throw. (I've managed to nail somewhat slow-reacting opponents after a whiffed [6][6][P]+[K] with a low punch, though. I guess it depends on what they try afterwards.)

There's more but I bet it'd be more effective to talk on IRC. :3

Thanks for the tips. I think my big issue is being too aggressive in trying to stuff these. I want to b,f+K (sabaki kick) all of them, especially the charged lunging kick. I fail to recognize the difference between a tackle and the lunging punches during their exe, though I know the tackle has the sound effect. Practice is the answer I guess.
I didn't study the movelist so I didn't know the escape for the new knee low throw :p Whenever josh asks me how to escape a throw I'm always like "that's an ub+P+G escape". Sometimes I'll say "b+P+G" with a straight face when it's f+P+G /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
    It's a guy thing.

Actually, OS low throws are the same escape commands as DS. D'oh.

Uh, it's not a stupid mistake, CreeDo mentioned not knowing the command for the throw escape, so I was informing. It's just [3][P][G] like it would be for a DS throw.

    And now, I sleep.
