1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Versus play on PS3

Just thought of this as I was looking over the PS3 specs. The premium (60GB) version of the PS3 exclusively has memory ports - the basic (20GB) does not.

Does this mean that, whatever memory card support VF5 has, only those with the premium version will be able to transport their saved character data around?

Maybe. 20GB-Version is crap, you dont have HDMi etc.
I'm waiting till PS3 is cheap enough. I'm buying it for sure not before december 2007.

You could still use a USB device to do the save transfer.

They have ones that are also pens! /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Other than that, you may be able to transfer your saves online (PS3 online, not PC online). Like if you're talking with a friend (again, via PS3 online), you may be able to send him a file (a.k.a. your VF5 saves).

I'm kind of behind on the console info. The PS3 is still backwards compatible right? If not me making a PS arcade stick would have been in vain. /versus/images/graemlins/tear.gif

PS3 can play PS1 and PS2 games. It'll actually be able to download PS1 games and have a higher ratio at playing PS1/2 games than the PS2 had with PS1 games.

For memory cards, you'll have to buy a separate adapter (which Sony will be selling) to transfer your PS1/2 saves to the PS3 (or, you could transfer your PS1/2 saves to your computer and then to your PS3 HDD). From then on, all PS1/2 games you play on the PS3 will save on the "digital memory card" (i.e. HDD).

For old controllers, I'm guessing you'll need a PS2-to-USB adapter since PS3 doesn't have the usual PS controller inputs but has made the switch to USB (they also have wire-less bluetooth, but I'd rather be connected physically for playing something like VF so no one has any excuses like "oh no, my battery died, etc...").

Hope that cleared a few things up.

Ah crap, I just made a stick for this game and now I got to get an adapter.... this is what you get for not keeping up with info I guess. Thanx anyway. /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

don't hold your breath on the adapter idea. People talked about adapters for the 360, I have yet to see one surface. to use a stick on the PS3, there's a 90% chance you'll either have to buy one or tear apart a PS3 controller to make one.

Well, they already have PS2-to-PC adapters I think (a.k.a. make you use a PS2 controller on your PC via USB), so chances are very good that they will work for PS3 as well (since PS3 will also use USB). If Sony doesn't make them, 3rd party companies will.

Also, Sony has confirmed that the memory card adapter will be available. I would provide a link, but I'm too lazy to search for it.

Microsoft uses some sort of authentication system which only enables licensed third party controllers to be used on the 360, wouldn't be surprised if Sony adopted the same strategy. Meaning, something as simple as a PS2 to USB adapter probably won't work.

There's no gurantee that'll work, so save your money for a new stick :F
