Vancouver, BC - Where the hell did the scene go?

With the advent of VF5 in the VF series, it has peaked my interest in picking up the series...and so, I was hoping to find some players to play against. Though, it seems like a hell of a long shot as I found no threads mentioning Vancouver at all, and there hasn't been a touranment over here for VF in 8 years....

So I'm hoping that possibility of us getting VF5 would at least getting any ex-VFers that still live here or any players at all, to come out of they're cave and play. I think there's a good chance that we might get VF5, as Lester's has already a Lindberg system (they'd just have to swap House of the Dead 4 ;D ), but our best shot is CHQ in Metrotown, as they also have House of the Dead 4, but more because lately they've been buying a lot of new arcade games. So it seems that CHQ has money to throw around.

And of course, Lion's Lair arcade has two VF cabinets, one of which is VF4, and I'm not sure, but I think the other one is VF4 EVO. So.....there's still some lifeform signs that VF is still in Vancouver, but I'm just wondering if it's the same for the players.

 

If any of the Vancouver crew are still around and playing, I'd love to visit sometime in the near future. My last trip to BC was wonderful.

I went to Lion's Lair today and it seems that they only have one VF cabinet. It might that they moved the other one somewhere else in the arcade cuz I didn't look around much for it.

The cabinet is VF4, but I have no idea in knowing if it's EVO or anything else, cuz I didn't play it. Just watched some chick playing it, but didn't challenge her cuz she looked like she knew what she was doing, and I didn't want to waste a buck a game.

 

I went there again yesterday and I did actually play the cabinet...and unforunately it's just VF4 and not EVO. And it is $1 per play....

Got my ass handed to me by a chick playing Shun, and she actually knew what she was doing....It's amazing over there. Everytime I go to check out the cabinet, the only players that I see playing the game are mature women....too bad they don't play 2D fighters, heh.

The videos certainly don't do justice to display how fast the gameplay really is.

 

Hehe, Lion's Lair. One of the arcades Moby took me to when we played VF4 while I was in town. And yeah, I believe that machine is VF4 version B.

Actually, I think that's the arcade we mainly played at on my trip. The owner was nice enough to offer us a deal where we paid him each a bit of downpayment and he gave us a whole night of tokenless VF4 play /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif
