The ten foot toss...realistically?

People always talk about how every move in VF has been motion-captured. Well, what about this, arguably the flashiest attack in the game?

So, maybe they exaggerated the throw, I'm willing to believe that something similar was performed or even that there is a way to kick a person some 10 feet into the air. But what about the followup mid-air takedown? If anyone can perform something even remotely close to that technique, I will eat my right shoe, especially if said individual is wearing a goofy-looking ninja outfit.

That's just a popular myth - it's not entirely true. There are always certain moves in fighting games that have to be animated by hand. Otherwise, Daiichi Katagiri wouldn't have much of a job...

its possible, look for books about ninjutsu, and although none will contain there moves (as ninja's mostly only teach their techniques to their clan members) but you will have knowledge about their training kernel and then you yourself maybe able to judge if it is true, note that i didn't say its a move any normal person can do but that the move is possible there are so many amazing things about martial arts that they become unbelieveable, well some are and some are not anyways that's all i really have to give yah, i would've given you a book title about samurai's and ninja's but i lost the book and can't remember what its called or the name of the author sorry /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

IGN posted an interview with Yu Suzuki some time ago, and asked him about motion capturing. Not everything in the game is motion-captured, although it's apparantly a big part. They said something's are possible, or easier to do by hand.

what about jacky's [7][K] or [7][K]+[G] in kage's case does anyone know if this is motion captured, coz i've actually seen this done before just really wondering if they took the time to do that motion capture thing on the move

For a clearly motion captured version, just see aoi's b+P+G, which doesn't seem fake at all.

Of course the followup is a little fake /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif
But anyway, it's no matter. VF doesn't pretend to be just like actual combat, the motion capture just happens to be the cheapest and nicest-looking way to create moves.

But aren't most of Lei Fei's moves real? Those Shaolin monk's are supposed to be Nsane at jumping high.

I didn't mean to imply the majority of the moves weren't real. A lot of them are. but I doubt anyone can get a nice jump crescent like lei fei can... 4 feet off the floor and 5 forward /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

The actuall motion for the throw is probally motion captured in that it is a fairly common throw in martial arts, esp judo and karate styles. Sega then just decided to make it throw people 10 feet into the air. So the effect is obviously not motion captured, just the motion of the throw. If it was done realistically, they would be thrown to land on their back, most likely the head facing your head, or some variation of that.

This is also true of Lion's Seven Star throw (b+P+G). It is 100% on the money Mantis. For players like mukky and chibita in Japan and ShinZ in Korea it must be aweful boring at times not being able to get consistant competition. So chibita-san, ShinZ and Mukky-san /versus/images/icons/smile.gif /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif /versus/images/icons/wink.gif make plans to get to NYC in September for a VF4 experience that will make your pulse pound and heart race like a walk on death row. Muhahahahaha!

I think those guys get ample competition. They have like 90+% win ratios, but 1: doesn't mean they're playing all hard people, and 2: doesn't mean everyone is easy as cake to beat.
