The Joystick Test

I've just started playing VF4E and I want to get good enough at home with a joystick so some day I can kick butt in the arcades. So I bought a cheap joystick (Reflex Gamester Arcade) and it was freaking impossible to do diagonal commands consistently, [3_][3_], etc...so in the training mode I checked it out and sure enough, when I pressed the diagonals it would catch the horizontal and vertical directions as well, no matter how precisely I pressed them. Needless to say I don't recommned this joystick at all, and I was wondering about buying a good one that doesn't have this problem. I'm thinking about getting the official VF4E joystick, even though it will make me look like an uber-dork. Could someone confirm if it hits diagonals well? Thanks in advance.

best choice would be -- sc stick /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

SC stick? Is that the Soul Caliber version? Why would that be any better than the VF one?

More buttons so you can play Metal Slug 3 with it and Soul Caliber 2. Get the Hori one, order from Play Asia.com do it now.

I think I need to rephrase my first question, so here goes: Do the Hori (VF, SC) and/or Sammy (SNKvCAPCOM,GG) joysticks hit the diagonals well? My problem was that the joystick I was using "catches" the horizontal/vertical directions when attempting a diagonal motion. I'm considering buying a Hori or Sammy type so any help is appreciated, Thanks.

Every Hori stick I've used and owned has never had a single problem with any direction.

I have tested Hori SC2 sticks (I have two) and they are just perfect with any direction. Let it be noted though that one of these sticks I bought from a local retailer didn't work at all at first, so I had to order a replacement from Hong Kong.

Also, I heard some rumor somewhere that Hori VF4Evo sticks had had occasionally a problem with unintentional commands, like hitting just joystick and getting button presses as well? I think there was some talk about VF4E stick getting interference from a GSM cellular phone? I have not heard about any problems with SC2 sticks though..

With a SC Joystick, you aren't just limited to playing SC.
You can use it to play many other games, and its not THAT expensive when compared to VF Hori version.
