Damn that sucks, hopefully 2011 or something has final showdown in WCG.

This was inevitable. Tekken is huge in Korea and it's no secret that WCG is based out of Korea. Pad players will have to get an adapter or switch to stick though.

That's disappointing. I had a lot of fun at WCG last year and I'd have liked to go again. But, not for Tekken. I just don't enjoy that game enough to put the effort in. Still, I'm happy for the Tekken community that they snagged this one. Hopefully the US Tekken players can bring home some gold.

Its a good year for Tekken fans with the MLG announcement as well.

What I don't understand, is why not run 2 fighters. Super Street fighter 4 is the elephant in the room.

Hopefully there will be another Fight Club to cover the history of WCG fighters including VF and DOA as well as newer titles Tekken and SF4

I've heard from many sources that getting TV rights for SF is difficult. I know both WCG and MLG are having issues with that.

Also, it's unlikely USA will bring home the gold. We have a very hard time taking down Korea in Tekken.

That is unlikely as its WCG, pads were allowed during VF time but however shortcuts P+K etc on a button werent, despite them being the default buttons. :S We shall see.

I would pick VF first over anything, but I have to say that Id rather play tekken than sf4.

ps. what you mean difficult to get tv rights for sf? Thats the first I hear of such thing.

Drdogg considering Tekken is quite popular do you think they would change Tekken to a team based thing at WCG?

I don't think so Jide. Even with the popularity of Tekken Crash the game is generally a singles game.

It would also be harder to run and manage qualifiers for countries.

What I meant by the pad comment is that the 360 dpad is horrid for Tekken (just like it's terrible for pretty much any game). Pad players will have to get an adapter to use a PS2 pad or switch to stick if they want to play at 100% on Xbox.

As far as TV rights, I just know that talking to the correct people at Capcom and then relaying the message (request) to Japan and the other higher-ups, and then actually hearing back and getting a "yes" out of them is a long and often times difficult process. It's not just Capcom, many Japanese companies are this way.

WCG has never done a team tournament with fighting games, and the US rarely sends more than one player for fighting games, so I would say it's very unlikely. On the bright side, since the Grand Finals are in LA this year, we'll probably see up to 3 US players sent for Tekken.
