1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

VF5US was insanely popular on release and sold like hotcakes initially, but the longer the game was out, the less people stuck with it because of exactly what you said.

Actually, on the Playstation if you had PS Plus VF was free. You only had to purchase DLC:oops:

Yea, under those conditions all kind of people tried it out. And the hardcore were extremely excited after waiting so many years for something, anything new from VF.

But the fact of the matter is there was nothing to keep new comers coming back. And they would just get massacred by all of the seasoned VF e-sports maniacs:cautious: Casuals, noobs, new players, don't have fun in a fighting game they can't win., and the new comers were always up against players who have been obsessing over Virtua fighter for 10 to 20 years. Sometimes new players would have to face off against some VF freak that had been playing the game for almost 30 years:cry: Noobs, casuals , new comers were brutalized and smashed online by players who eat-drink-and-sleep Virtua Fighter. So sense there is no significant single player content, no offline content, rather than throw themselves to wolves everyday online, most of the new players just didn't want to subject themselves to the cruel and unusual punishment so they left:(

Early on, I would be in the VF5US rooms as a spectator, just watching new players get brutalized, crushed, and dominated by the e-sports hopefuls. I'm the only player in the VF community who enjoys losing and have made a reputation for my self as being a master loser. I've proudly lost thousands of matches in the most spectacular fashion. But most players don't find losing fun. So when they get stomped by the seasoned VF players, the new comers never come back:mad:

The best thing that could happen to Virtua Fighter would be to integrate the characters in the Yakuza and Judgment series in single player mode only and leave VF5US as a online only e-sports title. Maybe update VF5US with roll-back release it as free to play with micro-transactions and NFT's so the e-sports, Jedi-Frame-Masters, and the I-wanna-be-a-VF-god hopefuls can support it and inbreed and fight among themselves through out eternity.

I never thought of it that way.

That's not true at all from what I experienced and saw online when it was active. The hardcore outside of Japan is a tiny minority and there were a ton of new or rusty returning players early on. A lot of it was the same as other fighting games - lots of gimmicks, flowcharts and abusing unsafe moves and strings with holes in them.

    Hmmm. That is quite debatable.

Also, there are many other reasons, why many veteran fans, didn't like the VF5 FS game. The game wasn't bad though, but there were fans, who called that game a shell of the franchise.

Probably because earlier games had Korean Boxstepping, Taiwanese Dashstepping, and many other things like that similar to Tekken. VF5FS and VF5US made the game almost exclusively up close with the decisions based off strikes as opposed to movement (even though movement is still powerful and benefits you a ton if used cleverly).
