Shun Basic Combos

    So I don't have time to do the Black book combo list justice (as the information in the descriptions requires some extra experimenting to be really informative), so I'm gonna just go over a few of Shun's basic all-round combos.

    My main aim here is to go over combos that will give the best coverage

    From Chou Wan (236P):
    (<6 drinks) 236P->6_P->6_KP works on all characters
    (>=6 drinks) 236PP->KK works on everyone except closed stance heavy weights and Lion (use 236PP->46PPPP+K instead)

    From stomach crumple:
    KKP works on all characters, and when you have more than 16 drinks, KK2PK seems to work on all characters (I just checked and it's not listed in the black book... I can't figure out why...)

    From Ryuu Bi Kyaku (8K+G):
    (>=8 drinks) 3PPK works against all characters
    <8 drinks you have to use different combos for different charactesr:
    Against Sarah/Vanessa/Lion/Goh/Brad/Kage/Lau, use:
    8K+G->(1 or 7)P+K+G (to opponent's back)->2P->6_P->KK
    Against Akira and Jacky use:
    8K+G->6_P (whiff)->6_P->KK
    Against heavy weights, use:
    (open stance) 8K+G->OM to opponent's back->KKP
    (closed stance) 8K+G->6_P (whiff)->KKP
    Against all others, use:
    8K+G->OM to opponent's back->6_P->KK

    P+K followups that float on counter (i.e. after 46P... and 6P...):
    Against everyone but heavy weights:
    ...P+K->43P
    The following are stance dependant but do more damage:
    (open, >=8 drinks) ...P+K->3PPK
    (closed, >=6 drinks) ...P+K->46PPPP+K

    After Ten Shin Sou Ko (3P+G):
    3P+G->236P->PP->43P works on everyone except Aoi and DS Vanessa
    If you have 6 or more drinks against Aoi and Vanessa use:
    3P+G->PP2KK

    After Ten Shin Sou Kei Kyaku (>=6 drinks, 43P+G):
    (<8 drinks) 43P+G->236P->KK2P
    (>=8 drinks) 43P+G->236P->3PPK]

    Hopefully after some testing and damage comparisons, I'll have time to write up an extended version of the full black book combo list. Hope this helps in the mean time.

    wow, it looks like damage from every combo situation has been increased pretty significantly.

    66K launches now but, all i've ever done off it was the 3ppk combo.

    Yeah, 66K is one of the combos I ended up skipping, because the followups are all stance specific (I didn't have much time... hoping to finish all the combos sometime soon)

    Here are the standard 66K combos:

    (closed) 66K->KK2P
    (open, everyone but heavy weights and Shun) 66K->6_P->6_PK
    (open, heavy weights and shun) 66K->6_P->46PPP

    Also, if your opponent misses the tech roll, you can do:
    6KK->236PP->43P
    for more damage

    if a combo starts with like one of the stun moves that u need to move back and forth the joystick for, do they count as real combo starters? cuz i heard that combos that are escapable from the ground with tech rolls dont really count. I have a few really good combos for shun, that begin with the stun moves, but do a lot of damage.

    one is 4k,p as the starter, k,k, 2p, and if u have 16 or more drinks, u can add the last kick, as the juggle kind of move. without the drinks, it will do 94 damage, and with the last hit, it will do 105 damage, on normal hit.

    another one is:
    43p, 236pp(second punch if u have 6 or more drinks) kk2pk(last kick only if u have more than 16 drinks)
    without any drinks, this combo will do 97 damage.
    with 16 or more drinks, this combo will do 115 damage on normal hit.

    ai at least isnt always smart enough to get out of these, i dont know about versus though

    Yeah stun moves if it's possible to struggle out of them doesn't count. I know that in Evo you could set the AI to struggle as fast as possible, so you could test to see if it was a true combo or not. No idea if the feature is still there though.

    That feature is still there in vf5, and I believe nothing is guranteed after 43p. It's a good setup move, but can't be considered a combo starter.

    yeah i kind of thought so, oh well. theres lots of other combos that don't require those kinds of moves, so whatever.

    1. I think this is universal though I think heavyweights might be able to tech the kick.
    2. This nets less damage than combo one and works up to Akira. I use it when I'm stuck in a limbo between 6 and 8 drinks or sometimes I do the combo without the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif when I don't have the drinks and combo three won't connect.
    3. This works on Brad, Lei, Goh, Jacky, Vanessa, and possibly others. I saw this on a Youtube video and in the exhibition matches on the disc. It is easiest to time on the characters I mentioned but the players on the exhibition matches could pull it off on other characters. You need to evade to the opponents back to get it to work and OM doesn't work because you're not as close to the opponent as /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif brings you. This will always do one more point of damage than /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif so I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble, it nets stylish points though.

    I'm sure you guys could pull these off just fine. I can't because my joystick is crap and diagonals come out as /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif instead of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif so I do weird moves I don't intend to.

    4. I think this works on all characters but the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif sometimes whiffs, so it's probably stance specific on some characters.
    5. I think this works up to Akira and is stance specific. I'll test it out some other time, but this is another max damage combo under some circumstances.
    6. Max damage up to Akira, I haven't tested on heavy for some reason.

    Please respond because my list sucks and I'm sure there are mistakes in there.

    Embarassingly enough my combos have already been posted on the first post! Anyway, I did testing on his combos and found out a few interesting things after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif

    The combos in the first post all do the same damage except the ones used on heavyweights. Furthermore a failed evade to the opponents back followed by /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is the easiest combo to do (in my opinion) and does the same damage as any combo in this situation. This works up to Akira and I think it should be used for advantage against tech rollers.

    I'll need to test more but I think a second /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif after a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif will always do max damage. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is also a good option.

    Above means: hold stick forward while doing the previous move, and just roll the stick to downforward and press punch for the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif uppercut. If you allow the stick to return to neutral you will get the ground attack.
