Shinz follow-up to Lei's DF+P+G

    Hi,

I've dabbled with plenty of characters, but I was eventually hypnotised by watching Shinz' Lei-Fei on a couple of TBZone clips. So I'm making my best attempt at picking up this 'advanced beginner' character - but here's a question.

The Ultimate Combo Guide suggests following up a [3][P]+[G] with a dodge attack, [P] canned thingy. But watching Shinz.. he never does this. He usually seems to go with some kind of fancy kick that looks mid or high and I think takes him into [IN] at the end.

Now I've spent ages in Free Training trying out all the different kicks I can do, and none of them seem to catch on the bounce after the throw in the way I saw on the vids. /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif Can anyone tell me a) What is Shinz using to follow up, and b) Is it better than the suggestion from CreeDd's Ultimate Combo Guide? If not.. why is such a good player using it so consistantly?

Disclaimer: I have looked all over this site for the answer or any other follow-ups and I can't find any. I tried, guys! Don't hurt me! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    Welcome.

He's using [6][6][K]. If you hold [K], it goes to [IN] stance. The [2][P]+[K]+[G]~[P] after Lei's [3][P]+[G] throw can be techrolled now, so that's probably why ShinZ doesn't use it. Against certain characters, you can follow the throw with [3][3][P][P], [K]+[G]. After watching a recently posted clip, it looked like ShinZ was doing:

[3][P]+[G], [6][6][K] for some decent damage.

Thanks, DRE. I'll give that a try. It looks more dramatic than [P]+[K]+[G] ~ [P], anyway. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

(Is still in slack-jawed awe at the mad twitchy dancing lei-fei of Shinz. That guy must be on a pure caffine diet...)

    If you think thats impressive,
Try to find some recent RealMazing clips from korea. I dont know if he has any recent clips, but he has the fastest leifei out there. He impressed a lot of japanese people at the recent TBzone tournament and I hear hes faster than Heruru now. o_O

But if you want some good leifei clips, look for heruru, considered the be the best leifei player due to his nonstop creativity.

the [3][P]+[G] ~ [3][3][P][P] ~ [K]+[G] can be done even in ver.c (and the rest most probably) and is atleast 10-20 pts more damaging than [6][6][K] (which is around 54 pts if i'm not mistaken where as the first one is around 70 odd) probably the only reason why the [6][6][K] is used is because unlike the other variation, it can be performed on all weights where as i think the [3][3][P][P] ~ [K]+[G] can only get a high enough launch on lightweights or mabye a few (or all) midweights, the heavyweights can TR / QR.

either way, they both finish with the [8]+[P]+[K]+[G] stance for the information of the original poster.^^

The truth about Lei Fei is, there's a LOT of ways to follow up everything - including that throw.
[6][6][K] is the safest and has good damage
[3][3][P][K]+[G] is the most common for a bit more damage.

The sad thing is, there are LeiFei's out there that are flat out amazing. I've not seen the clips of the Korea guys, but I'd bet money that I know a few people that could hang with them. I had a guy on my team (Ice-9 has seen him in action) and I swear he could give Heruru a run for his money, if not beat him, and he's not a 'famous player' if you will.

One of the guys in C-Chaps (Joe I think) has a pretty frickin' strong Lei Fei as well.

a great show of joe's lei-fei is in CreeD's movies-of-the-week thread: joe (lei-fei) vs segaru (wolf)

lol, if you want to refer to some joe action, point to best bout 30 disc of the green book where joe only loses to chibita i think, he even defeats heruru in a close turn-based round winings.. the guy just seemed to dominate that disc!

i think joe is very nice with fast reaction and mind games, but heruru is definatly better at smart play IMO, he makes very sensible flow charts and wise desicions. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif
