    I'll be back July/August. I'm still having a hard time adjusting VF5 and so concentrating on Kage. There's a Japanese player here I've only played twice (he lives in another city 2 hours away) but he's soooo strong. He was the teammate of Fummin, the KS4 champ, back when he was in Kansai/Tokyo. Anyway he's making me realize I have a long way to go.

    Wow, who does he plays?

    I'm find the game really unbalance. Worse than FT in my opinon. Maybe I'll get a better picture when I go Japan.

    He plays mainly Jacky. To me, the more I play the more balanced VF5 seems though I agree it is not as balanced as FT.

    What do you think the rankings/tiers are in the game?

    Well I have to agree Shun and Pai are really clearly top tiers or so called 'S' Class.

    Here's what I felt from playing FT to 5 after going through the black book and doing all the combos.

    Akira - Slightly power up. What he lost, he gained in other moves. Btw, never let Akira spod you near wall cos he get a 113 pt combo leaving him with initiative.

    Kage - Slightly power up. Running around in hurricane stance and doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, double sweep or cancel stance to zero frame throws really rules. You should really see Freddie's face.

    Leifei - Power up alot. Stance cancel to zero frame throw rules as this was the problem he had in FT/Evo. 2 more new stance = more confusion but the stagger/float game is still about the same.

    Goh - Power up slightly. Still feels a little weaker than Akira though. Trying to get his knee to hit on MC, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif and turnaround throw or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif seems to be the new direction in playing a strong Goh. Seems more technical now though.

    Aoi - The same. Guarantees knock down after YY reversal compared to double elbow in FT which leaves you at -1.

    Jeffrey - The same. Back throw does real damage but lost bottle neck chop. T.T

    Shun - Because of his new Sou stance, he puts alot of pressure on the opponent allowing him to drink more. Stomach crumbles to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is too damaging. Mule kick to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif->/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is more damaging than /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif so he no longers need to drink 8 cups before he can dish out damage. You also have to worry about escaping he new forward throw which leaves you side turn. Mule kick can't really hop over 2p now but hell, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif combos now. Powered up beyond your wildest dreams. >.<

    Pai - Man I really hate her /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif. Fast, safe and does as much damage as Akira's double palm. Try eating a few on MCs. Her /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif rebound move allows her to do at least 77 pts combos on a side crumble. Surprise exchange forces me to guess back throw, back low throw or a mid attack with of cos her swallow kicks still guaranteed. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif on hit to either turn around zero frame throw or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif hit throw really rules too. Her /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif allows her to combo on normal hit and beats throw clashes. Powered up alot from FT.

    Lau - Still the same.

    Jacky - The same shit with a powered up /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

    Vannessa - Power up slightly. Defensive stance hold /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif lost it's evasive properties but has more damaging combos now on lighter middle weights. They gave her alot of moves for Offensive stance but imo, only /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif are the better new additions.

    Sarah - Weaken in terms of flamingo and serpent sting. Her FT flamingo /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif allowed her to put way more pressure. Serpent sting's 2nd /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif whiffs alot.

    Wolf - Powered up generally alot. With 2 new half circular special high hit throws covering both directions, he can put better pressure on techrolling opponents. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is his best new addition.


    Lion - Slightly powered up all thanks to the new /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif stance.

    Brad - Powered up. Exiting slipping gives him zero frame throws which really helps alot. New side spinning allows him to evade rising kicks easily and has a special high /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to crumble opponents from there.

    Jeff, please give me some chance when we played. I only played VF5 once.

    And Danny, since when was Virtua Fighter ever balanced??? If VF was balanced, the word 'tier' does not exist.

    Danny, thanks for the breakdown! I agree with everything you said. I think Pai is the strongest character in the game, followed very closely by Shun.

    Zeng Zi, once I start working I have a feeling I won't be playing much VF either...

    By the way, in the black book, they were elaborating how to set up zero frame throw by doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif when you have small advantage, the opponent evade(succesful) and when you do throw, it will be a zero frame throw.

    I suffered alot of zero frame throws in such situation initial when I play my Pai friend(/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif to throw shit). I changed to bufferring ECD instead and Pai's throw will always be a tsukami throw instead.

    I've also been fooling around with the OM movements too. After I successful side crumble with an OM/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, I have enough time to OM again to the opponent's back and do a bounce combo. With this, I was able to do higher damage combos with different characters. Looking damn flashy too. LOL.

    Did you know that when you OM full circular rising kicks, you get +14 to +17? I was able to do Yoho a few times. Man, I should work for Arcadia. haha.

    Hmm interesting info -- this sounds like when crouch dash is inputted you get tsukami throw instead of 0-frame throw even though you haven't been considered ducking.

    Thanks for the OM tips -- will test to see if Jeffry/Wolf/Pai have enough time to do a low back throw. And damn boy how do you OM rising kicks?? Pretty good. Is the +14~17 the opponent crumpling, or just counter hit advantage?

    I use OM to totally evade the rising kicks. Its really easy to evade high rising kicks but damn hard to evade low ones. Gave me enough time to do a recovery counter hit.

    OM??? What is OM??? I am totally lost!!! I better buy PS3 if not I will be left behind. But Freddy say PS3 will not have VF5 evolution etc in future because SONY is pissed. So I worried about buying PS3 and then XBOX version is the latest version. So any suggestion???
