The video in this scenario involves the Dell 2007WFP monitor (20" widescreen). I suspect it applies to other DVI flatscreen monitors.

    Video Problem:
I run component or composite out to my SD TV (480i) from the PS3 A/V port. When I unplug that cable and connect a Dell DVI to the PS3 HDMI out via an HDMI to DVI cable - I get a black screen. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

    Solution:
Leave the A/V cable plugged into the SDTV so you can see what's going on, plug the Dell into HDMI port, go to video settings on PS3 and select HDMI out. Do not change your audio settings. The picture switches from the SDTV to the Dell and displays as stretched 480i. The audio stays on the SDTV. Go to video settings, 480i is permanently selected, check only the 720p box and then confirm. Your Dell is now displaying at 720p and the audio is on the SD TV.

    Audio Problem:
OK. Now I have a pretty picture and I'd like to move the PS3 and monitor someplace other than right next to my SDTV. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

    Solution:
You can run your audio through computer speakers with this handy box from Logitech. Just use the red and white composite cables in your PS3 A/V out.

Now you have an easily-portable 720p VF5 machine with sound. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

In a few weeks, I'll update this with info on how to run dual monitors (provided that what I'm going to try actually works).

Thanks for helping people out. Also note VF5 is in 5.1 surround so you can hook it up for surround sound double palms and the like :p

You guys know that if you turn on the PS3 and hold the button down, it will reset (auto detect) the connection that you are using on your TV. So you don't have to plug both cables in to switch the resolution.

Ah ha! Now I do. Thanks, Keenan. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Well, just to verify, then: Turn PS3 off. Remove A/V cable. Insert HDMI cable. Push and hold power button. PS3 detects new display. Correct?

Oh and actually srider hijacked my account and posted that info :p

I know a lot of other neat things about PS3 though. When you dig through the options you find a lot of cool stuff.
