Quickest Way to get out of Stagger

    Quickest Way to get out of Stagger?
    Someone told me the best way to is to do a 360 on ur pad,, and then press G?
    Another person told me to toggle back n forth then G...

    can someon confirm how to break staggers? what is the best input and quickest way. I cannot seem to break staggers for some reason.. I am on pad by the way, maybe thats why

    we discussed this a little over the mic mackfactor, but i feel strongly about this so i will put it in writing. Struggle recovering is like many things in vf5. There is a way to do it, and perhaps even a best/most effective way to achieve our goal. In this case the way to struggle recover is to wait until the joystick turns red and rapidly input buttons/directions (not positive, but read the link akai gave for more info).

    Now i know this may sound philosophical, but like i said i feel strongly about this: the best way is not so important as "what is the way YOU can CONSISTENTLY do it fastest". The only way to find this is in the dojo with practice.

    For me, on my joystick, i do left,right, then down while simultaneously pressing (drumming one after the other very quickly) k,p, hold g. I only do this sequence once, ending in holding G.

    This has a few tangible point that are essential to what i am trying to accomplish.
    1. It seems to work well.
    2. It leaves me ducking and guarding (theoretically i could fuzzy from here)
    3. Most importantly, i can CONSISTENTLY do it for some level of stagger recovery (at least when i'm practicing it, say once every couple weeks). Sure i can sometimes recover quicker by spazzing out on the controller and buttons, but using the above method i can commit it to muscle memory and have it as a tool waiting when i need it...in theory at least.

    Keep G pressed, and then do 360. If you manage to press P and K as well thats good too. But the important thing is to do it in correct tim,e that is, when the stick icon is red.

    I do what Manji says except that I piano K,P,G once or twice depending on the stagger and in the end leave the G pressed.

    For me on a 360 pad i'll rotate the thumbstick a full 360 degrees and hit both g and p by slidin my thumb like g,p,g,p,g,p then hold g. Using an arcade stick i move tne joystick left and right while hitting pkg pg gg hold g or if im lazy hold g and just mash p. u should start staggering once the icon turn red

    Yeah, everything you need to now is in the link Akai posted.

    I repeatedly input /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif on the stick, i can repeat these inputs way faster than I can a full 360 motion so I find it works a lot better.

    Inputting /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is definitely necessary too.

    EDIT: I actually tried using /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif cause I noticed that's how a lot of the jap players struggle, they was struggling stumbling trip with it easy so I had to check it out /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

    Hold /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, rotate stick and alternate /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif repeatedly works best for me.

    If you do circles, there's a chance you will end crouching and get hit by whatever you were trying to guard. If you do back and forth, not so much. If you do back and forth at the top of the gate, like feck mentioned, there's even less chance of crouching.

    Just about everything anyone needs to know about stagger recovery was, I thought, uncovered by KoD some time ago with use of his programmable controllers.

    Your blog entry seems to imply the stagger icon colour doesn't matter ("not overtly important"). It does matter. [​IMG] I highly recommend you, and anyone else unsure about stagger recovery, read KoD's findings.

    KoD (btw where has he been the last half year) clearly says in his blog post that you are not penalized for struggling too early. So, following that line of thought, it's not that important whether the joystick icon for wriggling the stick is green or red, as long as you don't stop struggling after green...

    I think the point is more to do with losing an input.

    A lot of people hold guard the second a stagger begins which ultimately causes you to lose an input the second it turns red.

    From rough testing against Eileen's 3P+G throw it would appear that 10 inputs are needed to break the stagger when the stagger turns red. If someone would like to see if this is consistent for all staggers that would be great. I would do it myself if the dojo mode would allow for you to make the CPU do shoulder ram.

    I've been busy as fuck with work, now managing several programmers in addition to trying to get my own work done.

    Most people cant struggle at full speed for very long. Watching the joystick icon to get the timing down definitely helps IMHO.

    Regarding hazzerone's question, different staggers are definitely harder to struggle out of, they're not all the same.

    Akira's stumble trip in VF 4 EVO, I believe it was near impossible for Jacky and Aoi to struggle out the follow ups.


    Also Wolf's 270's had a bigger active frame window than regular throws?

    Do these this still apply in VF5?
