Right Now, Today, as you read this post RGG/Seiji Aoki is asking themselves:

    • How can we turn the Virtua Fighter IP into a live service without investing any additional capital?
    • How can we monetize Virtua Fighter without suffering the same backlash as Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat ?
    • What can we do to charge more for Virtua Fighter without adding new moves, new characters or rebalancing?
    • Which characters can we take out of the game, so that we can sell them back in the new Virtua Fighter store?
    • Whats the most we can charge for a base game with a starting roster of 10-12 characters?
    • Is there a way that we can sell a battle pass, a season pass, DLC and still have in-game-currency for the store?
    • How can we use AI to balance the characters, create new art work and animations without paying for Motion Capture?
    • If we have to spend money on roll-back, can we just drop the Arcade Mode and Single Player altogether?
    • Can we use generative AI to replace programmers, and UI/UX designers?
    • Can we use AI to do all of the pipeline graphics , rendering, and scaffolding and get rid of the graphic designers?
    • Is there a way to charge spectators for watching the game even if they don't own the gameo_O
    • How can we simplify the game play, reduce the move list to draw in more casuals and spectators?
    • Isn't there a way to have the AI create all of the new stages without having to pay the graphics designers?
    • What can we do to make the game fun and easy for casuals while not pissing off all the old VF gamers:cautious:
    • Does anyone on the team have any ideas how we can quadruple our profit and revenue with no additional spending?
    • Can we use gamification to squeeze $1,500 - $2,500 out of the players for each copy of the Virtua Fighter reboot
    • Which form of grinding and in-game-currency can we slip into the Virtua Fighter reboot that will net us about $500 per copy?
    • Is there a way we use all of the customization from VF5FS to sell loot boxes:D
    • If we lose all of the old VF fans, won't the increase in new players be worth it?:sneaky:

Questions RGG/Seiji Aoki Should be asking themselves as you read this post:

    1. What new 3D fighting game innovations can we bring that will distinguish us from Tekken , SF, and Mortal Kombat?
    2. How can we update the sense of realism in the game without removing the fun from the game?
    3. What new authentic martial arts styles can we add without creating duplication of the styles already in the game?
    4. What can we do to expand and improve our defensive animations?
    5. Is there a way to top the Tekken, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat tutorials, training modes and practice dojos?
    6. Who are the best Motion Capture actors that we use to update the motion capture in the Virtua Fighter reboot?
    7. Can we invent new mechanisms that we can use to stop Cheaters, Pullers, Boosters, and Smurfing online?
    8. In addition to adding Rollback and Crossplay , what Single Player Modes can we add to keep casuals coming back?
    9. How can we take 3D fighting games to the next level and take back our rightful position as the best?:ninja:
    10. What kind of new realistic, fun, exciting but believable contact, finishing, knockout animations can we add to the game?
    11. What can we do to create a new generation of loyal Virtua Fighter fans that will ignore Tekken, Street Fighter and MK?
    12. If we invest a few million up front to create new fighting game concepts how long will it take to recoup the investment?
    13. How do we MVFGA (Make Virtua Fighter Great Again)?:ROTFL::D
    14. How do we make the characters exciting and the game play dramatic without pyrotechnics, fireballs, and animals?
    15. Is there a way to periodically add new stages, and new customizations that the fans will appreciate and welcome?
    16. What can we do to avoid just being a clone or cheezy rip-off of Tekken, Street Fighter, or Mortal Kombat?
    17. If we could introduce 10 new features into the game what would they be?
    18. How can we add better and more player statistics to versus mode and single player?
    19. Is a 8 man tournament for versus mode and single player enough or should we go to 16?
    20. Would the fans go for a "Virtua Fighter Complete Edition" that includes remaster of VF3 & VF4EVO?

Sry mate for the bad impression, I am a joyful person. I just got done playing me some VF5FS and had a blast. I enjoy AM2's Virtua Fighter series (i.e. Classic VF). The direction that RGG/Seiji Aoki wants to go will end in a cheap knockoff of Tekken 8 mashed up with Street Fighter 6, devolving into nothing more than a shameless money grab. I don't have to wait until the game exists, I can make my determination based on RGG/Seiji Aoki's current resume with Virtua Fighter Ultimate Showdown. In VF5US RGG produced:

    • The weakest arcade mode of any VF game
    • They added Tekken Skins
    • They added a Tekken UI
    • They added Tekken Music
    • They removed major customizations that had been in the previous VF (First Time in VF History for that kind of removal)
    • They defaced the Virtua Fighter presentation by adding Tekken Style Hit Sparks
    • They dumbed down the game by adding Tekken Style Hit Sparks

And imo Tekken 8 is a gaudy, rambunctious excuse for a fighting game with maximum monetization as its only goal. RGG wants to desperately imitate and follow in the tawdry and garrish footsteps of Tekken. No doubt about it, team RGG/Seiji Aoki have a dramatically different vision for Virtua Fighter than AM2 the original team had. I truly hope they name the new game something else, anything else but Virtua Fighter:whistle:

"Money grab". Games NEED to make money, champ. They cost a lot to produce. They are not our slaves and have no debt to us. Buy if you want. Nobody forcing.

    :ROTFL::ROTFL:

champ, that's what the $69.99 per copy is for. To make money;) All this season pass, battle pass, in-game micro-transactions are just greedy money grabs

I'm a developer have been for a couple of decades now., I have intimate detailed knowledge of the game development process and toolset. The most expensive aspect to producing a video game is

    • Executive Salaries
    • Toll Road Fees to Microsoft and Sony
    • And Server Hosting Fees to keep all of the wannabe e-sports hopefuls playing online

The basic game engine for Virtua Fighter (and for that matter Tekken too) was developed 20 years ago. The core stage ideas, character ideas all developed 20 years ago. Virtua Fighter 5 was ported to PS4 etc for the Yakuza series 8 years ago. The actual game development costs at this point are minimal. "All that games cost a lot to produce stuff" is just 'pimpin' and is a myth. The fact of the matter is the graphical editors, the animation editors, the programming tool chains have never been more powerful or easier to use:LOL::LOL: Now game development back in the mid 80's or 90's that was a bitch:holla: There is so much automation, scripting, templates, libraries, and frameworks these days that true development professionals have never had it easier from a work required to get the job done perspective.

The problem comes in when the executives that are being paid 10,20,30 times more than the developers try to force one developer to do the work of 10-15 developers, in half the time that it would take 10-15 developers and for a tiny fraction of the pay that they would have to pay 10-15 developers. And then when the few developers that are left get the job done, they get a lay-off notice as a thank youo_O

Advertising/marketing used to be a major cost for game publishers, (but not anymore) With all of the shills, content creators, tubers, and twitchers giving the fighting games 100's of hours of free advertising and marketing, they've cut game publisher advertising /marketing budgets down to a 1/4 of what they used to be.

Yea they are, yes they do. They are not doing us a favor, we are doing them a favor to pay these outrages prices for the bull$%iy games they've been selling over the last 15 years. Without our money they go out of business today:holla: There are far more games being made than there are people to play the games. Champ, people can pick and choose these days and can decide not to give Bandai-Namco, or Sega a penny. They need us far more than we need them, they are in debt to us for shilling their games, for spending 100's of hours on youtube training people how to play their games, promoting their games, apologizing for their games, etc. Sry champ, we don't owe them $h#t , on the other hand they owe us everything.

Champ I paid $29.99 for Tekken 4 for the PS2 when it first came out. Ok things are more expensive now so the base price for Tekken 8 is $69.99 and the deluxe price for Tekken 8 is $109.99

Okay, inflation, the cost of things is higher in 2024 for Tekken 8 than they were in 2001 for Tekken 4 23 years ago. So that's why instead of selling Tekken 8 for $29.99 like they sold Tekken 4, they sell Tekken 8 for $69.99 up to $109.99:X3::LOL::ROTFL: But where does all the money made from season pass, battle pass, in-game-store, DLC bull$#it go?

Did you know Tekken 8 has less content than Tekken 4, 5, or 6 :holla::ninja:

Maybe all that extra money the game publisher makes goes to give you back the characters that they've already developed but took them out of the game at launch so they could sell them back to you later as DLC?
