Problem with Arcade Layout

In my country (Dominican Republic) is very strange to find an arcade machine with its original cabinet. Most arcade owners get the board and locally build the cabinet so there are times that a machine comes with the wrong buttons layout.

In the past, there was a VF1 (Local Cabinet) and VF2 (Local Cabinet) and VF3 (Local Cabinet) and for all 3 machines the layout was like the one that I see in VF4 Hori Joystick (VF3 with one more button at the end). This layout was of course on both players sides.
Now we got an Evolution Machine, but instead of a locally build cabinet we got what it seems an old VF1 or VF2 original cabinet. The cabinet was repainted.

    Now the problem:

I was SHOCK to see that player one and two had different layouts. After looking carefully, I noticed that the layout are like made for point, middle and ring finger use. I changed to 1P side and try to play like I play and it was terrible!!!

    a) How was the layout arrange for all VF machines?
    b) Japanese machines are same layout as americans?

    hey miguel...

A lot of american cabinets have pointer, middle, ring finger layouts.

Japanese layout is made for the thumb, pointer, middle.

It's pretty much just bad luck for you if you prefer one way and get the other. You can ask your arcade operator to get out his drill, or you can try to learn the other layout... it's not bad when you get used to it.

I use pointer, middle, and ring on JP cabinets and it works spiffy for me... to each their own.

Ha, too bad. We could have hosted the first Dominican VF gathering /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

Replace the usual gathering food from Dominos with the good stuff from La Casa de Chimi! /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif
