I'm trying to learn the intricacies of option selection, however I have yet to figure out precisely how it works. Could someone kindly explain the system?

And yes, I've tried searching and I can't find a thread that explains the system, just tips on EDTEG and RDTEG etc.

Bring on the "Use the Search" flames....

Basically, it is when you know you are in a spot where you think your opponent has an equal opportunity to attack or throw and you are trying to protect against both. So, in essence you whiff an attack and he comes in for the kill you input we'll say [P]+[G] and [4]+[P]+[G] to escape his 2 most powerful and common throws, then you press [G] at the end and you have done a G-DTE. You have effectively set-up to break 2 throws and stand guarding. I think Bungle did a Option faq for vf3 and GLC might have covered some of this in his vf4 general faq on the front page.

i just started doing thingsl ike that and i use the evading throw escape guard. i find this more useful then the double throw escape evasion. Because my opponents usually only use the basic throw in these quick situations and i'm safe cuz i'm guarding. Also the double throw escape evasion leaves you wide open to a strike, doesn't it? like if someone is doing a combo and you evade the first strike the next few will still track you and all you'll be doing is a throw escape...

Double throw escape does not leave you open to strikes. You can still hold guard after the last throw input. However, to do an EDoubleTEG is difficult.

Thanks, that is much clearer. Is it possible to buffer in a reversal during recovery?
