1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. here's the link, the specs should be comprehensable to all since they aren't translated into Dutch but are written as specs usually are in plain Chinese (to me that is anyway /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) The rest of the text just states that an Insider CLAIMS to know the specs of the Naomi 3 board.
He also CLAIMS that besides VF5, Daytona USA 2005 will be a launch titel. Start the dreaming....

i'm gona bold out the stuff that looks fake to me.

60GB HDD (What the hell do you need a 60gb hdd for??!)

(DVD optional) why DVD? SEGA's GD-ROM has proved rather effective. it still can be used.

PowerVR Series 5 GPU*** this one, could be, it. but nothing needs all those pipelines, and 800mhz is overdoing it.

i say this "insider" is full of it. from how i see it, most of it is just guessing. the only certian things we know it'll have, is a new SH, and a new PowerVR, and'll be backwards compadible with Naomi 1, and Naomi 2, and the GD-ROM system.

A hdd will allow further storage of arcade etc.. Statistics playing time etc.. Not only this but games would load even faster. Imagine just putting your vf.net card in and bam the stage has loaded without even seeing a black screen.

60GB HDD is dirt cheap now. US $50 will get you a single 60GB HDD, and they're going to be buying in bulk. As for DVD, everything is coming out on DVD. It's cheap to make, has immense storage, and is fairly resilient. If you're going to have the hard drive there, possibly you can read the DVD off to the hard drive and then store your DVD media somewhere else, although I think that would be inviting massive title 'sharing'. The saved game thing is much more likely. Neither one of those are going to bump up the price much more than it normally would be, maybe $60 or so, and it makes many things viable that a straight 'slow media' or dedicated eprom system wouldn't.

As far as 800Mhz, nothing now may use that, but games are one of the cutting edges in fast rendering - it's a contest between displaying stuff ASAP and quality, and the faster your video shunt process is, the more calc time you have. Game companies have found out it's better to overdesign base boards than to underdesign, or you end up replacing the system cards the very next year when your competitor suddenly starts putting out stuff that takes advantage of their 'overdesigned' boards and you're left offering people a game that may have superior mechanics, but just looks bad.

Sounds like a common sense architecture to throw together. It's probably what a Dreamcast 2 would have sported. In fact it could be based on the R&D Irimijiri oversaw before Sega pulled plug on hardware (he worked on a DC successor for over a year).

Only thing that has be suspicious is that the Super H series 6 CPUs have not been announced yet by Hitachi, and may not even exist.

yep its is, you're not the first one asking me about it.
That's where it all began long ago, my friends brother even had to to play the "platform" parts cause we couldn't do that. It's my retro favourite /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Glad to see this topic still had some use /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Double Dragon 2 was my favourite game of the 8-bit era. At the time there weren't many co-op games and we used to play another scrolling fighter on the Amstrad called Target Renegade all the time. When DD2 came along it was a fantastic upgrade, and even today it beats scrolling fighters in some areas.

The way the platforming element was integrated into it was the stand out thing, it kept the game fresh and interesting throughout as opposed to something like Final Fight which gets repetitive quickly.

It's a real shame the co-op scrolling fighter has almost dissapeared from the scene.
