NAMCO copying Sega/AM2 again.

Since so many people like to keep tabs of "potential" ways that NAMCO continues to copy Sega/AM2 I have came across 2 more to help fuel the fires of suspicion.

1. The New Ridge Racer game coming soon.
Name - R: Racing Evolution
Hmmm, kinda like VF4 Evolution /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

2. Soul Calibur 2 game covers. Take a look at the new game covers for SC2 on the GC, X-Box, and PS2. You will notice the layout is extremely close to VF4E. 3 main characters faces, brighter colors, game name/logo in bottom center of picture, etc. /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Well, I wouldn't put it past Namco to introduce character access cards for Tekken 5.

 

The first SC had a story mode where you searched for pics and other stuff, AM2 used the same idea for Evo but but gone a step further, Its only fair for NAMCO to copy their cover colours (Poor Guys) /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

 

Actually, Evolution is a popular subtitle for games nowadays, like EXTREME was (and still is). Only one example immediately pops to my head right now (Shikigami no Shiro Evolution for XBox), but I know there have been plenty others, some even before VF4E.

What I'm waiting for is a member of the Religious Right to attack a game with "Evolution" in the title. With their track record for idiocy you KNOW it's gonna happen.

Oh, boo hoo Llan. Get over yourself. I wasn't trolling about your MoaT vid. I just thought it was kinda pointless. A highway drive with medicore music, some character intros, and B/W is considered artsy, but I didn't find it motivating in the least. people are coming to MoaT to compete and that competitive edge mixed with meeting new/old friends is what has them hyped. Whether mature gamers care about this kind of stuff isn't the issue. I have seen here several times people talking about this so I cited a couple new observations. You came here and read it, then proceeded to troll yourself. You are no better than those you mock.

 

I thought the music was pretty killer.

Speaking from the perspective of someone who's had his efforts crapped on before, I have to say the way you went out of your way to express your disdain for the clip was pure ass. No doe-eyed innocent "what did I say? It was only four letters" defenses either.

If you didn't like it why not offer something valid and constructive or just shut up? It's rare that one-liners are worth a click, but "um ok" was a complete waste except obviously to needle llanfair. There's a more concise term for a post that accomplishes nothing except to irritate others.

I hope they fix the gameplay before introducing character cards in T5. I'd love to see an Evo-style quest mode in future Namco console fighting games though. Copying can be a GOOD thing. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I dont see you trying to organize a tournament, I dont see you trying to do anything to progress and grow the VF community in the US. hell there was a tournament in North Carolina not even a month ago, where you there??? If you liked it, then hooray for you. I personally found it rather pointless and didn't really convey to me anything dramatic enough to warrant being "pumped up" about. Some people disagree, some agree, and others don't care. I obviously cared enough to type 6 letters worth of "WTF?". If it had showed white-knuckled victories at previous MoaT's, people with their game face on or heavy concentration, and anger/disappointment at a hard fought loss then I could see the drama. An artsy representation of locales and character intros did not purvey that to me. Sorry my standards aren't as low as yours. I didn't want to write a critical evaluation to Llan on it, since I wasn't that interested and knew he wouldn't care enough to consume it's contents.

I guarantee that I could not have offered anything to Llan in a "constructive" way that wouldn't have ended in this same argument. If someone spends time working on something that they find cool and their friends continue to reinforce them at how good it is, then they are not removed enough from it to accept critique. Now this is an assumption and not purely based in absolute truth, but with friends who were in media and art schools they usually act the same way. Llan came across in this with the "artistic" flavor in mind and that is how I viewed it. The B/W film, emphasis on environments, and calculation of musical crescendos and decrescendos are classic Indy work. Lie what you want to. hmmm. repi, I don't think you get it. You want to talk pointless, it was your response to Llanfair. personally, I think you were responding to everyone else enjoying it. and you make a really base assumption about llanfair when you say he wouldn't have cared enough to digest the contents of an actual critique. What was that you said about assumptions in an earlier post?

By the way, the BW choice was primarily because of the video format. Llan and I talked and decided BW would not show off the imperfections of video cam footage; further Llan decided to cap the intros in BW to keep in step with the cammed footage. As far as I know, he kept color in the end because it was a nice counterpoint and he had made that first.

but anyway, I think most people have you figured out by now.

Why haven't you added anything to the US VF scene? Simply, I haven't had enough ideas or knowledge to really do anything of true merit. I have been trying to incite more questions of moves and move properties, creating threads about evo specific characters to get people to spread info around, and help anybody here with answers to questions that I know or have figured out. When I gain enough ability to compete at a higher level I will journey to contests to test myself, but with no competition in my area that will be awhile. Bu and the guys in Charlotte are the closest I know of who play in NC and they are over an hour away. None of my friends like the game enough to play more than 2 or 3 games at a time.

Oh yeah, when did we have a tourney in NC?
I'll use that VFDC search function and see. According to the search last month was in South Carolina and not in North Carolina. Common mistake I suppose. I didn't go, because I don't have enough confidence in my skill level yet. End of subject.

Why didn't I give a long drawn out expose on why I disliked the video? Mainly because I didn't think Llan would listen to it. This point is addressed above in a reply to CreeD.

The crap at the end of your paragraph was just that, "crap". I purposefully withheld saying anything strongly critical of Llan's efforts to keep from this very thing happening. He took exception to my comment and came here to yell about it and then you stick your nose in it. The simple fact is that I did not like it, didn't think Llan would accept critique, and therefore made a smaller less inflammatory comment which has now been blown out of proportion by friends trying to defend him. People have differing opinions and you should get used to it if you're going to continue breathing.

If you dislike my opinion enough, then maybe you should heed your own words.

Not at all. Llanfair and I have had some blazing arguments ourselves. differences of opinions happen all the time. Like how many people consider you a troll and you think you are not. maybe if you include a breakdown of all of your word and phrase choices it might lend a different point of view but obviously content stands on its own.

I actually think its funny that you consider this place to be full of brothers arm in arm. most of the people involved in this thread have, at some point, been yelling at another over something; we only really band together over someones naked attempts to be an asshole. you just happen to be 'it' a lot lately.

You sort of missed the point. We don't need our feelings defended. I Wasn't offended by your post. I've made videos before and had them criticized and never took it to heart. I think what don't understand is why you replied to llanfair but responded to people enjoying his movie ("Was just saying in little to no words that I didn't get what people were enamored by")
