    Hey all.

    -I usually start a match by doing a [6][K]+[G] or [7][K]. The 1st one starts you doing a flip right at them and does pretty good and the 2nd one gets you further away from the opponet and/or hit the opponet.

    -During the match, i do quite a few of these, ([7][K],[6][K]) and then if you hit them with the forward flip you can pull off a floater and my floater move is usually [P][P][P][7][K], which backflips away from the enemy so you have time to start off another combo.

    -I just started doing [4]+[P]+[K]+[G] then [P][P][P] together which is a cool lookin move but altogether does a lot of hits so your opponet will block a few but might not block all of them.

    -Along with those I do a regular [P][P][P] with a backflip([7][K]) which is my floater move also but I use it for attacks in the rounds too.

    -I do some [K][K] too but not too many because the opponet can counter your attack easily if he blocks them.

    -I havent been doing these lately but [P][P][P][K] and [P][P][P][2][K] hurt pretty bad but usually the last kick doesnt hit them and they counter attack.

    -Hope I'm helping some Pai users and if you have any other combos, tell me and everyone else /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

    That's great that you're playing Pai. I'm assuming that you're playing in Kumite on the PS2. You may find that against human opponents, some of your tactics may become not so useful.

    Anyway, I'll list some of my favourite Pai combos.

    She has a number of float starters:
    1. [2_][6]+[P]
    2. [K]
    3. [1]+[P]
    4. Circular stance (from [4]+[K],[2] or in Evo [3]+[P],[4]) [P]+[K]

    Keep these in mind as good float tools, Joespeed. They're very useful.

    Possible floats - this is just a few, for more Pai combos, I highly suggest you read the Ultimate Combo FAQ that CreeD has been putting together. It's in the Junky's Jungle thread at the top (sticky).

    [2_][6]+[P] --> [6_][P] --> [6_][P] --> [6][6]+[P][K]
    [2_][6]+[P] --> [6_][P] --> [2_][6]+[P] --> [6][6]+[P][K]
    [2_][6]+[P] --> [6_][P] --> [2_][6]+[P] --> [9]+[K][K] (Evo)

    The above combos can also be started with either a MC [K] or a MC [1]+[P].

    Anyway, check out the combo FAQ. Try and get some human competition, too...it will improve your game tremendously.

    cheers,

    Hey thanks for the new floaters /versus/images/icons/grin.gif ! I'll try them as soon as possible. You play as her too or do you just know most of her moves?

    Yeah...Pai is my main character. There are few people who play her competitively. At NYG3, I saw Stompoutloud play with her a bit, CreeD also plays her, and I think Ninjinsan plays her from time to time as well. I was very happy to walk away from NYG3 with a 58% win rate with my Pai. She's tough to win with but a blast to play.

    cheers,

    Yeah shes fun but what do all of these NYG3 things mean??? Is there somewhere I can go to find thses abbreviations? Pai has this [8][K]+[G] which gets her really high and lands on them but I never do this unless I want to get over there head /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

    hmm, some of your stuff I would never use. The summersalts for instance, I have always been slaghtered when I tried those, with the exception of [6][6][P][K] which hits lightweights somewhat in the air, and they can be followed up with a quick [K][P][K].
    I also like to use [9][K] to do one sissor kick. When the other person realizes that I am not going to finish it, they usually try for a throw or a somewhat slow, powerful move, so after I land I hit [K] pause for a bit, and go [P][P][P][2_][K], while they are in the air.
    [K] is the only move of hers that will float with out a counter(that I have found anyway), so I like to use it a lot. A [K], pause, [P][P][P][2_][K] is very nice feeling. And her back throw leaves the opponant open to this as well.
    I like her [4][P] that will crumple on counter. I usually follow up with a [9_][K][K] sissor kick. And I tend to use her inashi [6][P]+[K] typw counters more than the others, so I can try to follow up with some kind of float, but at times it seems to put the opponant too far away for me to do anything.
    I also tend to go for a quick attack and back out of range using a [4_]+[G]+[P]+[K] and then attacking from that stance.
    I am courious to know how others think I can improve upon this...I know there are more damaging air combos, that I should use, but anything else I could do in terms of mind games?

    hey... nyg3 was a recent tournament and gathering held in new york.

    Pai's u+K+G is pretty risky, but has its uses. It will squash anyone trying to get up off the ground with a rising kick for example.

    The combos llan listed work pretty much just like they look, the "FC,f+P" means do a from crouch f+P. To do it quickly in a combo... enter [3][3] to get into a crouch faster then usual, then [6][P] once pai is ducking.
    I've found you can also pull this off with a sort of dragon punch motion... [6][2][3][6]+[P].

    Probably the easiest pai combo you can do for big damage is any combo starter (like standing kick) then
    [P] -> [K][K] -> [3][P]
    ... the two part kick combo slams them to the ground, which guarantees you the df+P, a ground punch. If your opponent is not good at struggling to get up off the floor (which most people are not) you can do this instead:
    [P] -> [K][K] -> [8]+[P]

    Also, a useful trick for all characters, and especially pai. If you a single punch in a combo tap punch, then guard. That makes sure that when you press punch, then K,K you get what you wanted (a punch, then the double kicks) rather than pai's basic punch-kick combo which is much different.

    Also, with practice, you should get into the habit of holding forward on the stick or pad after you float the opponent. When you hold forward and press punch your jabs have longer range, which makes sure your combo doesn't miss.

    Good luck, and have fun.

    F][P][K][G]---[3_][3][6][4][K][P]---[7][P][K][6]----[9][6_][P][G][K][8_][K][P][7][8][9]----[K][P][4_]---[G][2][3][4][K][G]When the [K][P][G] hits it will combo your opponent it will float them high into the air and continue the combo from there. Someone told me that this was a good pai combo it will kill ur opponent no matter what.
