November 16th, 2012 Update: Model 2 Collection will be released on November 28th, 2012. Based on the Japanese Official Model 2 Collection Website and was confirmed all 3 games will be playable online.

As has been leaked last week, Sega released a youtube video confirming five games: Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers, Sonic the Fighters, Virtua Striker, and Virtual-On will be available on the PSN and the 360 as part of the Model 2 Collection. In the video description (rough translation):

    1. Virtua Fighter 2 - The 3D fighting game phenomenon, you can play Version 2.0 and Version 2.1
    2. Fighting Vipers - A flashier 3D fighting game introducing armor and wall breaks.
    3. Sonic the Fighters - An unique game within the Sonic series of games.

The above three games will each be available for 800 YEN or 800 MSP in Fall 2012. For the Playstation 3, there will be a bundle deal of all 3 games for 1500 YEN.

    4. Virtua Striker - 3D football (soccer) game that will be released on console for the very first time.

    5. Cyber Troopers: Virtual-On - another revolutionary game that influence the control scheme of other robot games, the game will feature online play. You can also pre-order the Hori Twin Stick peripheral to replicate the arcade control scheme

The price for the last two games are currently not set. Both games are expected to be released early 2013.

According to a Siliconera article, all three games--Virtua Fighter 2, Fighting Vipers, and Sonic the Fighters--will have an online mode. Spectator mode will also be available fof Virtua Fighter 2. The Youtube video from Sega does not mention anything about it though.

Akai you forgot to mention that VF2 will have online multiplayer as well as spectator capability. I heard this on NeoGAF and this sweetens the deal alot.

cobratron - I just saw info about it from siliconera. Strange the youtube video from Sega does not mention it...that would actually be a big draw for classic gaming enthusiasts.

YES! I hope it comes out this year, if it is next year i could understand since that would be VF's 20th anniversary. As I stated before in another thread, i never really got much chances to play VF2 in the arcade nor the saturn version.

Love VF3 even the crappy DC port. Arcade perfect port would make me go nuts. So this has to be leading to an inevitable Virtua Fighter 6 release. I can smell it.

In the Sega youtube video, it only mentions Virtual-On to have online mode (from my rough translation). Anyways, I put that info about the online mode to the other 3 games citing Siliconcera. Thanks for the info ^_^

SAME! Sega is really catering to us fans with this nostalgia. And the fact these games are rare (or so I think) and now presented to us in HD, less expensive than price of original version when first released plus trophies/achievements as well as online play.

      Most excellent collection.

I was more of a playstation guy back in the day, even though I owned a Saturn as well.

VF2 and Virtual On were games I owned and played..the others, not so much, but they still look like awesome games.

I consider this to be pretty awesome but I can honestly say that with no online mode for VF2 I won't purchase it. I can play all by myself on my own with emulators.

This is great! Do we have any plans on updating the system guide for VF2? I would like to understand the fundamentals of the game!

      What's the difference between VF2 2.0 and 2.1?

In arcade, you could pick Dural with 2.1. And the most noticeable change was you couldn't easily back or forward dash in 2.1.

float bugs were fixed (some 2p characters couldn't float as well), senbon was tweaked to not be as powerful (didn't work), Kage's TFT combo was tweaked to make it harder, PK didn't knock down, Sarah's Shun Puri was fixed so she no longer had the instant turn around bug. ... I can't remember others

One other thing I remember about 2.1 is that the character buffer was much smaller, meaning the space in which you can run up to someone is almost nonexistent. For example, it let's you get so close during running that I remember seeing a character still in run animation even though he was as close as he could be to the opponent.
