How do you do the new one in VF5?
It looks like a variation of the old one from Evo combined with the new fast half step dance that Fuumin did in KS4.
So basically it looks like 2 half steps, and then the "HAI!" and then repeated.

Edit: Here's an example of it...

The bald lei-fei does it after he wins first round.

What he did can be done in Evo or FT too.

wow that's neat, i'll have to try it out...
btw is the ":" a typo? or is it for timing?

    no problem

btw, is there any trick to getting this done fast?
i'm assuming just a lot of practice....
...and i suppose on a gameplay note, i've seen lei-fei players dish out 20 moves in a matter of seconds, would this be the same?

i guess what i'm trying to get at is...working it all out, would it be contributed more to
    1)memorization
    2)reaction
    3)variety
    4)muscle memory
or option E, if that made any sense

currently i am only able to play on set patterns (which i understand is a bad habit) while being able to change up minor things if they don't work or for mixups

i also realize that it is literally impossible (for me at least) to be able to use a correct move out of stance changes every time the opponent flinches...
...the point i'm trying to get at is, will dancing hurt my game?
assuming playing is on a different mental level, sorta like the example of patting your head and rubbing your belly
i personally think eating, drinking, smoking, and talking on the phone all while driving is 10 times easier...

I use to play Leifei without dancing at all but imo, dancing is where it makes things interesting! However, alot of high ranking players in Japan play without dancing much(HanabiLei).

Rather than doing a whole set of dance at a go, break it down into chunks. I'm sure you can do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif~/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif without any problems right? Then you try doing 2 sets of it then 3 sets then 4 set etc etc.. Soon you will be able to do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif~/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif x infinity cos your mind has already subconciously break it down into parts rather than a whole chunk of inputs.

VF is about accuracy of inputs so you can't spam.

i dunno if a video will help but if you need i can do one. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

That was good advice. I tried starting really slow and then increased the speed and amount of inputs. It takes a while to get used to, but I think I understand the general idea now.

    That's impossible to pull off with a D-pad. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

That is not impossible. Fact is there is a missing piece to the Dance which is the Bokutai. I can easily do on a pad 2+p+k+g~2~8+p+k+g~2+p+k+g~2 repeat or break as often as I like. I have a double jointed thumb, so that may make it easier for me. And I can pull of his chain throw, Akira's SPOD and DLC, Goh's Basara/Indara, and Kage's DPOD with ease as well. I am sure others are doing it too, just practice.

    Everything is possible /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

It just comes down to practise.

ps. And like AJ24 pointed out, bokutai is missing from Danny's answer. Thats done as additional /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif.

Danny's answer was correct. The original question was asking about a different dance to the standard bokutai hai~hai~hai dance we've all seen a million times.

Refer to the original question with movie link for reference. It's a dance variation which Danny correctly described:

Basically, the bokutai skips every other beat.

Yes, I find the new dance harder due to the fact that the rhythm is a bit different than the regular one. In fact, when I try to go back to the original hai~hai~hai~ dance, it screws up my muscle memory, but that might be just me so...

However, it is nice to see a new variation every now and then. On a side note, I have actually been playing Lei-Fei on a pad these days since using a stick forces me to be really close to my TV, which hurts my eyes. I take advantage of the wireless feature. Of course I have to map buttons for P+K+G and others but it is definitely possible to learn how to dance, pad or stick. It really does come down to practicing as AJ24 and Manjimaru had stated in previous posts.

Apologies, that was me being stupid. Not only did I not check the video, I misread dannys answer. The "HAI" in first question made me think it was the classic dance. I try not to post in a hurry next time.

What Advantage does his dancing have? frames? etc

it looks good, theres no real advantage, it can confuse the other player. You'll see it used at the end of match most likely just to warm up.

I do my own little break dance routine. I got to the

the I shift really quickly to nehan stance, then (again really quickly) tap down 2x to go into the laying down stance. If you do it right it looks like he spins out into the stance.

Dancing, if applied effectively, can really confuse the heck out of the opponent. At the very least, it can invoke a momentary 'mind-freeze' state, just like the effect guard-canceling for Aoi, Flamingo canceling for Sarah, and kick cancels for other characters would invoke. When playing competitively, this brief pause can make a big difference. If they stand there guarding for example, Lei-Fei can press the offense by canceling out of the stance and dash in with a throw.

As certain moves are only available in certain stances, by dancing, the opponent has more to guess (which means buying more time for the Lei-Fei player) which move will come out.

Also, inexperienced opponents tend to think that Lei-Fei is vulnerable whilst in a stance dancing-away, but the smart player is actually baiting them for a major counter.

Another example is in the case of okizeme, Lei-Fei might be dancing half a step away from a grounded opponent, and when they go for a rising kick, Lei-Fei can /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif +/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif to avoid and counterattack their whiffed move.

So, what I mean to say, don't underestimate the dancing! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

None. Apart from confusing the opponent what attack from what stance is gonna come out next. The original Heruru dance was basically a celebration method after the round.

I started becoming a better player when I started using the dances.
Just switching between up pkg and down pkg is more than enough.
You can always have the threat of a large combo with up pkg, and down pkg has alot of different medium range attacks with priority and sets up tons of nasty wall combos.
Also, I've been able to use the upper stance to counter punches quite easily
