The Kakutou Shinseki IV: Hokuriku Area Championships will be held on March 3rd, 2007 at Sega Arena in Fukui City, the capital of Fukui Prefecture... There are going to be 18 players in the tournament, including yours truly and Namflow...

The character breakdown looks like this:
    4 Kage
    3 Lau
    2 Lei Fei
    2 Blaze
    2 Jacky
    2 Eileen
    1 Akira
    1 Shun
    1 Jeffry

One of them is Uraohsu (裏大須) Lau, an apparently killer Lau player I haven't heard of before...

The two Blazes Nam and me...

2 players from the tournament will go on to the national tournament in Tokyo... That means Nam and I are each about four wins away from a trip to Tokyo!

If you check out this page you can see a list of people who have already qualified for the main event... They have pictures and a small interview with each of the people who qualified... You'd think the lot of them would look happier after winning the tournament! Most of them look like someone just shot their dog...

Anyway with any luck you'll see one or two familiar faces up there next Monday /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Good shit goldens! I have faith you can get the job done. Best of luck and remember everyone is beatable no matter how good they might seem. Get past the name and hype and break that shit down to the core! One request, when you make it to the finals can you guys sport a navf or vfdc flag item on your back. Let them know it's just business.

    Peace^-^

Fuudo has already qualified. he's one of the best lion players in Japan. It might as well be a Fuudo vs Koedo final again.

For some reason, Koedo used Jacky in the regional qualifiers. Itazan was knocked out as well, although he was considered a heavy favorite.

Btw, I don't see Fu~do in the results thus far. Maybe he automatically gets seeded for winning OT5.

I'm no Lau expert, but isn't his weakness obvious?

    Pick Kage! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    im no lau expert either

but i noticed heavy 3p useage to start flow charts, and lots of sidestepping in minor frame situations, and susceptible with throws when posed with an attack situation. Thats just my take on it

That Lau has an insane rank!

I notice that when he goes into Tiger stance he heavily favors /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. So I would advise crouching under it.

Against Jin's Kage, at least, he kept trying to catch an MC with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. He also did a lot of guard -> notice Kage was closing in -> tried to attack to interrupt. I don't know if that's a thing specific to Jin's Kage or his general gameplay, but I'd say that crouch dashing briefly (to get the delay, and duck the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif if he tries it) and then attacking/throwing might be a good strategy.

He doesn't seem to throw escape that well relative to his rank (in the clip at least), so go for throws!

Err play him with a really low winning percentage and low rank card so he's underestimate you and do stupid stuff. Eg, 5 dan with 1000 wins, 5000 loss.
