does anyone know whether or not the USA version will have Japanese commentary or not? Also, whether or not they will include japanese characters for your name entry.

I do not want to buy the USA version if they have some terrible English commentary. Does anyone know the deal? Thanks.

For all you know, the English commentary could be awesome.

Granted. I still want to hear the crazy japanese shouting though.

I think the commentary gets boring/annoying no matter what language it's in, nothing better than live commentary and/or or just hearing the actual games bgm and sfx imho.
    Pre scripted cpu voices= meh

Chances are slim to none on that one, from the looks of it. Faring only slightly better is the chance for special characters that can be used, but since names are limited to only 10 characters (just like Evo), I won't be holding my breath for either of those.

ah, thanks. I might just order the japanese version. I guess it doesn't really matter since we might not be able to play our "own character" against someone else on their console.

If it (English commentary) sounds like Stephen Hawking: another reason to buy VF5 the day it comes out.

    For realz.

They already used the Stephen Hawking voice in a fighting game: CvS1.

I don't see why they can't give us both. It is going to be on Blu-ray after all, so it's not like space is an issue.

Both of them will be on the disc.
If you change your ps3 to japanese it turns the game back into the japanese. So JP (Commentary)

As long as there is an option to turn it off I'll be happy. I expect that, for myself, the novelty of the commentary won't last past the first day.

So the commentary switches language but what about the character set, like will menus, quest missions, names change to Japanese/English when you switch the PS3 or is it just the commentary? I mean why doesn't Sega just release one version of VF5 where the only difference is whether your PS3 is on English or Japanese to tell the game what lanuage to display?

Why would you want commentary? It'd take one hell of an AI program to give a *good* commentary on what each player did or didn't do, move for move -- I don't want to hear "nice-u combo!" over & over!

Better to break out that mike & make 'em laugh! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Just a word of warning to people...

It is possible that different regions will only contain the language option for that region ONLY, despite that it is confirmed the game will be regionless for all regions.

If you want to be on the safe side, I suggest you wait until people get a hold of the JP version if you are considering importing but do not want to read Japanese.

Yeah I agree. Though if you always keep commentary off, then turn it on for say... a money match of finals at a house tournament, it could be kinda cool lol. Add to the hype of it all a bit. But yeah, have others announcing it would be far better/more fun fosho.
