IGN has just put up the latest interview I did with them: A Virtua Fighter 5 Primer

It was written in mind to help introduce new players to the series, which I know there's a lot of around here recently.

I'd appreciate hearing what you think.

The Matrix reference made me scratch my head/chuckle. Overall, I think the advices were good.

Well written. Anyone new to the series or fighting games in general would benefit greatly.

That was excellent. Really helpful and easy to digest, you didn't make learning the game seem like a daunting task, which most people do.

    Great reading material for newcomers!!

I am sure that any soon to be Vfer have many questions and I see that some important ones are answered in this article.

    Now the real question is:

If I translate the article to spanish, pointing out to the original location (of course) and not taking credit for the article creation, Am I breaking the law?

There are many people in my country that don't speak English and might be asking these same questions about VF5.

Heta_Akira, provided you don't do this for profit then I'm sure it'll be OK if you credit/link the source, and shout me a couple of beers should our paths ever cross. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Yeah, how to break rules in VF like Neo in Matrix? What tricks have you been hiding in your sleeves? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Knowing so much stuff in VF can be a real pain when you want to teach some1 totally noob to the game. You really manage to explain it short and simple. Nice job!

I think Myke meant that the better you become the less you play by the rules sort of thing?

Either that or he was smoking that sweet aussie erbs(Yes not Herbs)

He refers to being textbook to being fluid and reacting to your opponent.

    DON'T THINK, FEEEEEEEEEEEL!

Yeah, by following the rules I'm talking about textbook (or moral) style. Only attacking when you have advantage, not disadvantage. My hope was to introduce players to the natural rhythm of VF style gameplay. The psuedo turn-based exchange of attack-defend-attack, etc.

But of course, there are times when you can attack from disadvantage, such as when you anticipate a throw, or if you use a move that has special properties (evasive, sabaki) to beat the opponent's attack.
